Longport, Staffordshire

Westport Lake is a lake and local nature reserve in Stoke-on-Trent, in Staffordshire, England, about 0.8 miles (1.3 km) south of Tunstall. It is alongside the Trent and Mersey Canal. It is owned by the Canal and River Trust, and is operated by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.There is a visitor centre, with a café and lakeside balcony. The centre has conference facilities. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has two visitor centres; the other is the Wolseley Centre near Rugeley.The lake is the largest expanse of water in Stoke-on-Trent. There is a level footpath of about 1 mile (1.6 km) around the lake. There is waterfowl on the lake, and it is an overwintering site for many species.

Longport railway station serves the areas of Longport, Middleport, Tunstall and Burslem, all districts in the northern part of Stoke-on-Trent, England. The station is served by trains on the Crewe–Derby line, which is also a community rail line known as the North Staffordshire line. The station also has two trains a day on the Stoke-on-Trent to Manchester Piccadilly line. The station is owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway.

Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent is a mixed secondary school located in the Tunstall area of Stoke-on-Trent in the English county of Staffordshire.Previously known as Brownhills High School, the school was awarded specialist status as a Maths and Computing College and was renamed Brownhills Maths and Computing College. In September 2010 the school converted to academy status and was renamed The Co-operative Academy of Stoke-on-Trent (later Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent). The school is now part of The Co-operative Academies Trust - a group of schools sponsored by The Co-operative Group. In September 2012 the school relocated to new buildings.

Middleport Pottery was built in 1888 by Burgess & Leigh Ltd (founders William Leigh and Frederick Rathbone Burgess). It is located at Middleport, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The buildings, which still house an active pottery, are protected for their historic interest. Middleport Pottery is owned and operated by Re-Form Heritage.

Middleport is a residential and industrial district in the city of Stoke-on-Trent, England. Middleport lies to the west of Burslem, between Burslem and the Newcastle-under-Lyme district of Porthill. To the north is Tunstall and to the south Cobridge and Etruria. Middleport conjoins Longport. Middleport is primarily residential, with distinctive Victorian terraced houses. However, it also a working industrial district and contains several potteries: ranging from Middleport Pottery, owned by the Prince's Regeneration Trust and claimed to be the only working Victorian pottery remaining in the city, and Steelite, a large manufacturer of hotelware. The Trent and Mersey Canal and a key path of the National Cycle Network run through Middleport. The line of the canal through the City of Stoke-on-Trent is a linear conservation area. Middleport contains one of the nation's richest stretches of canalside industrial heritage. Since 1990 the canal area has benefited from around £1m of Groundwork funding, and £4m of Townscape Heritage funding. Clarice Cliff's Newport Pottery, where she produced some of her most famous work, was adjacent to the canal and an artist-designed 12-foot steel markerpost identifies the location. Middleport is an area that is strategic to the regeneration of the city, as it sits in the centre of a ring of imminent projects totalling around £250m: the Chatterley Valley scheme, the Etruria Valley scheme, the regeneration of Burslem town centre, and a proposed major "park and ride" interchange and business-park on the site of the old Shelton Bar steel rolling-mill. Middleport piloted a community warden service in 2002 & 2003; as a result, crime dropped by 80 per cent. The service was subsequently extended across Stoke-on-Trent and adopted in other cities. Middleport features in several of the novels of Arnold Bennett, and the film version of his The Card was filmed in Middleport with Alec Guinness. Middleport Park Bowling Club has a national reputation and has won several national trophies. Middleport Matters (founded 2015) is a local community action group dedicated to improving the lives of those who live and work in Middleport and the surrounding areas.

Tunstall is one of the six towns that, along with Burslem, Longton, Fenton, Hanley and Stoke-upon-Trent, amalgamated to form the City of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. It was one of the original six towns that federated to form the city. Tunstall is the most northern, and fourth largest town of the Potteries. It is situated in the very northwest of the city borough, with its north and west boundaries being the city limit. It stands on a ridge of land between Fowlea Brook to the west and Scotia Brook to the east, surrounded by old tile-making and brick-making sites, some of which date back to the Middle Ages.

Tunstall Town Hall is a municipal building in the High Street in Tunstall, Staffordshire, England. The structure, which was the meeting place of Tunstall Urban District Council, is a Grade II listed building.

The Golden Torch, more commonly known as The Torch, was a nightclub in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Opened as a mod venue, it later became important to fans of Northern soul with their all-nighters. Peter Stringfellow was amongst the many DJs who at some time had a residency there while the main soul all-nighter DJs included Keith Minshull, Colin Curtis, Alan Day and Maretyn Ellis

The Pinnox railway branch officially called the Spur line ran from Pinnox Junction to Tunstall Junction which was located just south of Tunstall railway station. The line was the lower of the two branch lines at Tunstall.The Pinnox branch was connected to a nearby Colliery via the use of a private mineral line.The Pinnox branch was originally constructed as a mineral line between Longport and Tunstall. The line after leaving the main line at Longport Junction ran past Westport Lake on an embankment before passing under Davenport Road and Westport Road. The branch passed the side of what is now Co-operative Academy at Brownhill. The junction with the Potteries Loop Line was at Pinnox Junction, Tunstall.

Porthill is a suburb of Newcastle-under-Lyme and a ward in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. Porthill Bank is the main backbone with streets such as Vale View, First Avenue, and Inglewood Drive leading from it. It is a major transport link as the A500 can be easily accessed from the bottom of the bank.Porthill, along with Bradwell and Wolstanton, is represented on the Staffordshire County Council by Graham Hutton (Conservative), as of 2021.

The Duke William is a Grade II listed public house at 2 St John's Square, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, ST6 3AJ.It was built in 1929, and Grade II listed in 2015 by Historic England.
