Stevenage Clock Tower is a Grade II listed structure in Town Square in the centre of Stevenage New Town. A panel on the tower records the visit of Elizabeth II in 1959. The queen unveiled it as part of the ceremony to open the first phase of the town centre.Designed by Leonard Vincent, the architect of Stevenage Development Corporation, the tower is 19 meters high. It is constructed of reinforced concrete with granite cladding. The fact that the concrete is not exposed gives the design a modernist rather than brutalist appearance. It has been described as "iconic".In the 1970s a bronze relief sculpture by Franta Belsky was added to the west face of the clock tower. It depicts Lewis Silkin, a Labour politician who served as Minister of Town and Country Planning implementing the New Towns Act of 1946 which set up development corporations to construct new towns.

Stevenage ( STEE-vən-ij) is a large town and borough in Hertfordshire, England, about 27 miles (43 km) north of London. Stevenage is east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), between Letchworth Garden City to the north and Welwyn Garden City to the south. In 1946, Stevenage was designated the United Kingdom's first New Town under the New Towns Act.

Stevenage Bus Interchange is a facility that serves the town of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, with local and regional bus services. These include services to Watford, Cheshunt, and Hertford, within Hertfordshire, Luton, Bedfordshire, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire and Victoria Coach Station, London. There are National Rail connections through Stevenage Railway Station on the other side of Lytton Way. Local Taxi services are available, and rank in the Railway station forecourt.

Hertfordshire is a county in eastern England. It is bordered by Bedfordshire to the north, Cambridgeshire to the north-east, Essex to the east, Buckinghamshire to the west and Greater London to the south. The county town is Hertford. As of June 2014, the county has a population of 1,154,800 in an area of 634 square miles (1,640 km2).Local nature reserves (LNRs) are designated by local authorities under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949. The local authority must have legal control over the site, by owning or leasing it or having an agreement with the owner. LNRs are sites which have a special local interest either biologically or geologically, and local authorities have a duty to care for them. They can apply local bye-laws to manage and protect LNRs.As of July 2015, forty-two LNRs in Hertfordshire have been notified to Natural England. The largest site is Therfield Heath with 147.3 hectares (364 acres). It has some of the richest chalk grassland in England, and it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The smallest is Oxleys Wood in Hatfield, which has an area of only 1.2 hectares (3.0 acres). This wood often floods, and it provides a habitat for a wide range of insects and birds. Several other sites are also SSSIs, such as Croxley Common Moor and Sherrardspark Wood. The oldest LNR in Hertfordshire listed by Natural England is Hilfield Park Reservoir, declared in 1969, and the newest Weston Hills in 2012.

Stevenage Borough Council is the local authority for the Stevenage non-metropolitan district of England, the United Kingdom. Stevenage is located in the north-east of Hertfordshire, in the East of England region. The council consists of 39 elected members, representing thirteen electoral wards; each of the wards elects three councillors. Youth representatives from Stevenage Youth Council and the elected Stevenage Youth Mayor also attend Stevenage Borough Council meetings in a non-voting role.The Council is currently controlled by the Labour and Co-operative Group, who hold 24 of the 39 seats. Labour have controlled the council continuously since its creation as a non-metropolitan district in 1974. The Conservative Group hold 9 seats and the Liberal Democrat Group hold 6 seats. The Leader of the Labour and Co-operative Group and the Council is Councillor Richard Henry.

The Six Hills are a collection of Roman barrows situated alongside the old Great North Road on Six Hills Common in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. They are classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument and are protected by law. They form the largest surviving Roman barrow group in England. Beside their historical significance, they lend their name to an important thoroughfare in the town (Six Hills Way) and are a local landmark.

North Hertfordshire College ("NHC") is a further education and higher education college operating in Stevenage, Hitchin, and Letchworth Garden City. NHC was established on 1 April 1991, through the amalgamation of Stevenage College, Hitchin College and Letchworth Technical College. NHC is graded 'Good with Outstanding features' by Ofsted.

Ditchmore Lane is a cricket ground in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1921, when Hertfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match which was against Buckinghamshire. From 1921 to 2000, the ground played host to 41 Minor Counties Championship matches and 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.The ground hosted a single List-A match in the 1969 Gillette Cup between Hertfordshire and Devon.In local domestic cricket, Digswell Park is the home ground of Stevenage Cricket Club who play in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division Two. The cricket club has existed since 1878 and is the oldest sports club in Stevenage.

Stevenage railway station serves the town of Stevenage in Hertfordshire, England. The station is around 44.4 kilometres (27.6 miles) north of London King's Cross on the East Coast Main Line. Stevenage is served and managed by Great Northern, who operate Thameslink stopping services southbound to King’s Cross via stations such as Welwyn Garden City and Potters Bar, to Brighton and Horsham via central London and Gatwick Airport and to Moorgate via Watton-at-Stone, Hertford North and Enfield Chase and services northbound to Cambridge and Peterborough. It is also frequently served by London North Eastern Railway, who operate fast non-stopping services southbound towards London and northbound towards cities including York, Leeds and Edinburgh. Hull Trains and Lumo operate very limited services from the station. The present station was opened for trains on 23 July 1973. It was officially opened on 26 September 1973 by Shirley Williams, then MP for Stevenage, replacing the previous station, which was 73 chains (1,500 m) to the north, and further away from the centre of the new town. The station was built by British Rail.

The Women's Engineering Society is a United Kingdom professional learned society and networking body for women engineers, scientists and technologists. It was the first professional body set up for women working in all areas of engineering, predating the Society of Women Engineers by around 30 years.

Stevenage mail centre was a Royal Mail mail centre in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. In 2010, Royal Mail announced that a number of sorting offices from around the Home counties, including the Stevenage, Hitchin, Berkhamsted and Welwyn Garden City would be closed and merged into a large mail processing centre in Hemel Hempstead. These closures initiated a protest by the workers at the Stevenage mail centre, and members of the CWU in November 2010It underwent partial closure in 2012, though it remains an active Royal Mail facility as of 2017.

Barclay Academy is a secondary school and sixth form located in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. The current head teacher is Dr. Matthew Laban. Opening in 1949, it was the first purpose-built secondary school constructed in the UK after the Second World War and was awarded a Festival of Britain architectural award in 1951. In May 2019, the school celebrated its 70th anniversary. The school contains a large bronze statue by Henry Moore, Family Group, which was placed at the school's main entrance and is now inside and can be seen in the front of the school. On 22 January 2018, the BBC visited the school to clear up why the statue had been moved, as there had been an attempted robbery on it in 2009. The school was taken over by Future Academies Trust and converted into an academy in February 2019.
