University of Winnipeg Collegiate

Wesley College was a college that existed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, from 1888 to 1938. In 1924, Wesley College became part of the United Church of Canada. It was one of the University of Winnipeg's founding colleges.

The University of Winnipeg (UWinnipeg, UW) is a public research university in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, that offers undergraduate faculties of art, business and economics, education, science and kinesiology and applied health as well as graduate programs. UWinnipeg's founding colleges were Manitoba College and Wesley College, which merged to form United College in 1938. The University of Winnipeg was established in 1967 when United College received its charter. The governance was modelled on the provincial University of Toronto Act of 1906 which established a bicameral system of university government consisting of a senate (faculty), responsible for academic policy, and a board of governors (citizens) exercising exclusive control over financial policy and having formal authority in all other matters. The president, appointed by the board, was a link between the bodies to perform institutional leadership.The university is a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate (CUSID) and a member of U Sports.

Gallery 1C03 is the University of Winnipeg campus art gallery in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It opened in September 1986. The gallery has hosted more than 100 exhibitions and had over 125,000 visitors. Gallery 1C03 engages diverse communities through the development and presentation of contemporary and historical art exhibitions and related programming initiatives. The Gallery is also responsible for the development, preservation and presentation of the University’s permanent art collection. Gallery 1C03 shows a variety of subjects and media. Paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, sculptures, textiles, ceramics, furniture, installations, performances, and videos have all been featured. Art that deals with questions of history, politics, technology, feminism, sexuality, ethnicity, and other issues has been displayed to intersect with various programs of study at the University. Typically, the gallery highlights the work of contemporary Manitoban and Canadian artists. The gallery has also exhibited work by artists from the United States, Mexico, Peru, Germany, Spain, Finland, Ukraine, China, and Australia. Gallery 1C03 is located on the first floor of the university's Centennial Hall building.

Menno Simons College is a Mennonite college in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is a college of Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) and is one of CMU's three founding colleges. Menno Simons College, located in downtown Winnipeg, is also affiliated with the University of Winnipeg.

The Duckworth Centre is an arena and gym on the University of Winnipeg campus in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Constructed in 1983 and officially opened on September 14, 1984, it hosts the University of Winnipeg Wesmen basketball and volleyball games and has a listed seated capacity of 1,780 and a maximum capacity of 2,450 for convocations and conventions. The facility can expand to include three full-size basketball courts or one centre court with two sides of retractable bleachers. The Lea Marc Printing Corporate suite oversees the centre court and is used for housing sponsors and VIP seating. Encircling the court is a 167-metre indoor running/walking track. The facility also houses six racquetball/squash/handball courts, change rooms and saunas, as well as administrative offices and athletic therapy services. In December 2018, a new Ring of Honour was commissioned and installed to recognize the important and most successful builders and athletes in Wesmen history. The inaugural class consisted of longtime women's basketball head coach Tom Kendall; point guard Sandra Carroll; longtime women's volleyball coach Mike Burchuk and current Wesmen head coach, and former all-star player, Diane Scott. The Duckworth Centre also houses the Bill Wedlake Fitness Centre, named after the former basketball coach and administrator. In 2019, it will play host to the NORCECA men's volleyball championship tournament.

CBW-FM (98.3 MHz) is a public non-commercial radio station in Winnipeg, Manitoba, owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The station airs the CBC Music Network, a mix of adult album alternative, classical music and other genres. Its studios are located on Portage Avenue in Downtown Winnipeg, while its transmitter is located on the Starbuck Communications Tower. CBW-FM is one of the most powerful radio stations in Canada, with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 160,000 watts, while most FM stations run at 100,000 watts or less. (Winnipeg is also home to the most powerful station, CJKR-FM at 310,000 watts.)

Shea's Amphitheatre, also known as the Winnipeg Amphitheatre, was an indoor arena located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It seated 6,000 spectators. Constructed between 1908-1909 for horse shows, the Amphitheatre was also used as an indoor ice rink during the winter, with an ice surface measuring 67 by 26 metres (220 ft × 86 ft). It was, for a time, the only artificial ice surface between Toronto and Vancouver.Today, the headquarters of The Great-West Life Assurance Company occupy the site.

Booth University College (Booth UC or BUC), incorporated as the Salvation Army William and Catherine Booth University College, is a private, Christian liberal arts university college located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is affiliated with the Salvation Army, a Christian organization presently operating in more than 130 countries.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG) is an art museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Its permanent collection includes over 24,000 works from Canadian, Indigenous Canadian, and international artists. The museum also holds the world's largest collection of Inuit art. In addition to exhibits for its collection, the museum has organized and hosted a number of travelling arts exhibitions. Its building complex consists of a main building that includes 11,000 square metres (120,000 sq ft) of indoor space and the adjacent 3,700-square-metre (40,000 sq ft) Qaumajuq building. The present institution was formally incorporated in 1963, although it traces its origins to the Winnipeg Museum of Fine Arts, an art museum opened to the public in 1912 by the Winnipeg Development and Industrial Bureau. The bureau opened the Winnipeg School of Arts in the following year, and operated the art museum and art school until 1923, when the two entities were incorporated as the Winnipeg Gallery and School of Arts. In 1926, the Winnipeg Art Gallery Association was formed to assist the institution in operating its museum component. The Winnipeg Gallery and School of Art was dissolved in 1950, although its collection was loaned indefinitely to the Winnipeg Art Gallery Association, who continued to exhibit it. In 1963, the Winnipeg Art Gallery Association was formally incorporated as the Winnipeg Art Gallery by the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. The museum moved to its present location in September 1971, with the opening of a purpose-built building designed by Gustavo da Roza. In 2021, the museum opened a Michael Maltzan-designed Qaumajuq building in order to house the museum's Inuit art collection.

The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is a Canadian museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, dedicated to honoring the history and achievements of sports in Manitoba. The organization began in 1980, and then opened a museum in The Forks in 1993. After five years, the museum moved to The Bay store on Portage Avenue. Its present-day location is the Sport Manitoba building (145 Pacific Ave.), where it had its grand opening on October 27, 2012.Exhibits of Manitoba's sports teams and honoured athletes are displayed in the museum. The Hall of Fame inducts both individuals as well as teams.

Manitoba College was a college that existed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, from 1871 to 1967, when it became one of the University of Winnipeg's founding colleges. It was one of the first institutions of higher learning in the city of Winnipeg and the province of Manitoba. The first graduating class had 12 members.

The National Research Council Institute for Biodiagnostics (NRC-IBD) is a research laboratory located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and operated by the National Research Council. It was established in 1992 to research and developnoninvasive medical diagnostic technologies to increase prospects for prevention, earlier diagnosis, improved treatment and prognosis of diseases.Located adjacent to the University of Winnipeg campus in downtown Winnipeg, NRC-IBD also has satellite institutes in Halifax and Calgary.NRC-IBD conducts its research in partnership with medical schools, universities, other research organizations, and industry. Its research projects fall into the following six programs: Cancer research; cardiovascular disease research; IT-based decision technology; medical photonics; MR research and technology development; and neuroscience research.Its impact on Winnipeg's economy amounts to $30 million a year.
