Ossington Street is a quiet one-way street in London, W2, leading from Moscow Road at its north end to the Bayswater Road / Notting Hill Gate at its south end. Ossington Street forms part of the border between the boroughs City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, with the east side of the street belonging to Westminster and the west side to Kensington. It is possible that the street was named after Viscount Ossington. Despite its minor nature, Ossington Street is one of the more notable 'runs' of The Knowledge in the area, as a route for taxi drivers to get from Westbourne Grove to Notting Hill Gate. The nearest Tube station to Ossington Street is Notting Hill Gate, followed by Queensway and Bayswater.

St Petersburgh Place is a street in the Bayswater area of London, located in the City of Westminster. It runs north to south from Moscow Road to Bayswater Road, close to the northwestern entrance to Kensington Gardens. It was constructed by the property developer and painter Edward Orme during the Regency. As with Moscow Road its name commemorates the visit of Alexander I of Russia to London in 1814 as part of the Allied celebrations following the victory in the Napoleonic Wars. It was originally known simply as Petersburgh Place, but this was later changed to St Petersburgh Place, an alternative spelling of Saint Petersburg, the then-capital of the Russian Empire. In 1818 Orme constructed a Bayswater Chapel for the growing number of inhabitants. From 1823 to 1826 Orme also developed the nearby Orme Square. Adjacent to the street is the smaller St Petersburgh Mews, which runs parallel northwards to Moscow Road. St Petersburgh Place is noted for its two places of worship, the Anglican parish church of St Matthew's, Bayswater, and the Jewish New West End Synagogue, both of which are listed buildings. The street also features Lancaster Close, a 1920s Art Deco apartment block. Unlike Rue de Saint-Pétersbourg in Paris, St Petersburgh Place and Mews both kept their names throughout the twentieth century when the Russian city's name changed in 1914, 1924, and 1991.

Saint Sophia Cathedral (Greek: Καθεδρικός ναός της Αγίας Σοφίας) is a Greek Orthodox church on Moscow Road in the Bayswater area of London. It was consecrated as the Church of the Holy Wisdom on 5 February 1882 by Antonios, Metropolitan of Corfu, as a focus for the prosperous Greek community that had settled in London, particularly around Paddington, Bayswater and Notting Hill. Today, in addition to its regular Saturday and Sunday services, it hosts a Greek polyphonic choir, Byzantine music, and an associated school in which pupils discover the history and language of Greece and take Greek dancing lessons.

The New West End Synagogue, located in St. Petersburgh Place, Bayswater, London, is one of the oldest synagogues in the United Kingdom still in use. It is one of two synagogues which have been awarded Grade I listed building status by Historic England, which has described it as "the architectural high-water mark of Anglo-Jewish architecture". Moscow Road is a street in the Bayswater area of London. Located in the City of Westminster, it runs eastwards from Queensway to Pembridge Square. It was developed by the painter, publisher, and property pioneer Edward Orme in 1814–15, as part of the rapid expansion of the city in the Regency era. It was named in commemoration of Tsar Alexander's participation in the Allied sovereigns' visit to England as part of the victory celebrations following the Napoleonic Wars. An adjacent street was named Petersburgh Place. During the nineteenth century Moscow Road became a centre of the Greek diaspora in London. In 1879 the Greek Orthodox Saint Sophia was opened as a church on the road, and in 1922 became a cathedral. The residential Ossington Street runs off it. Several pubs are today located along the road.

Bayswater is an area within the City of Westminster in West London. It is a built-up district with a population density of 17,500 per square kilometre. It is located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west-northwest of Charing Cross, between Kensington Gardens to the south, Paddington to the north-east, and Notting Hill to the west. Bayswater is one of London's most cosmopolitan areas: a diverse local population is augmented by a high concentration of hotels. In addition to the English, there are many other nationalities. Notable ethnic groups include Malaysians, Greeks, French, Americans, Brazilians, Italians, Irish, Arabs, and many others.The streets and garden squares are lined with Victorian stucco terraces, mostly now subdivided into flats and boarding houses. Properties range from apartments to small studio flats. There are also purpose-built apartment blocks dating from the inter-war period as well as more recent developments, and a large council estate, the 650-flat Hallfield Estate, designed by Sir Denys Lasdun and now largely sold off. Queensway and Westbourne Grove are its busiest high streets, both having many international ethnic-cuisine restaurants.

1–2 Orme Square is a Grade II listed pair of houses in Orme Square, Bayswater, London, W2.The houses were built in the early-19th century and according to rate books No.1 was first occupied in 1826, along with No.3 to the east, followed by No.2 in 1827.There is an LCC plaque on number 1 to Sir Rowland Hill, (1795–1879), postal reformer, who lived there from 1839 to 1842, while he was introducing the penny post.No 2 was the home of George Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood, and his son, David Lascelles, 8th Earl of Harewood, who was born there. When the 7th Earl divorced his wife, Marion Stein, in 1967 the house passed to her for her lifetime. When she married Liberal politician Jeremy Thorpe, it became their London home until Marion's death in March 2014.
