Breakneck Hill

The Breakneck Road Historic District is a rural agricultural landscape near Flintstone, Allegany County, Maryland. The farms and their associated lands have remained in the possession of a small number of families since the time of their settlement.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Rocky Gap State Park is a public recreation area with resort features located on Interstate 68 (exit 50), seven miles (11 km) east of Cumberland in Allegany County, Maryland. The state park's 3,000 acres (1,200 ha) include Lake Habeeb, Evitts Mountain, and the privately owned and operated Rocky Gap Casino Resort. The park offers water recreation, camping facilities, and hiking trails. The park is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the resort by Golden Entertainment, Inc.

Lake Habeeb is a reservoir of 243 acres (0.98 km2) and is located in Allegany County, Maryland, United States. The lake is fed by Rocky Gap Run, and nestled against the east side of the southern tip of Evitts Mountain. The dam was built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1970 and Rocky Gap State Park formally opened on July 17, 1974, it attains a maximum depth of 74 feet (23 m) near its earthen dam. It offers three public beach areas along Habeeb's 9.4-mile (15.1 km) shoreline, as well as a fishery.The lake is named after Edward Habeeb, a local florist who helped initiate the development of the area. The lake is now situated within the Rocky Gap State Park, also hosting the Rocky Gap Resort and Golf Course.

Pleasant Grove is a census-designated place (CDP) in Allegany County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 353.Pleasant Grove is located east of Cumberland along Maryland Route 144 (Baltimore Pike), the old alignment of U.S. Route 40. Interstate 68, the new highway alignment, also runs through the CDP, with access via Exit 47 at the western end of the community.

Warrior Mountain is a ridge located in Allegany County, Maryland. Warrior Mountain begins 3 miles (4.8 km) northwest of Oldtown, Maryland and runs northeasterly to the water gap formed by the Murley Branch of Town Creek, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) south of Flintstone, Maryland. North of this gap, the Warrior Ridge runs parallel and to the east of Tussey Mountain north past Everett, Pennsylvania until its ridge line merges with the Tussey Mountain ridge line at the Blair County/Bedford County boundary.

Phoenix Mill Farm, historically known as Mill Run Farm, is a historic home located in Dickens, Allegany County, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Flemish bond brick structure showing Greek Revival style influences built about 1845. It has a gable roof and double flush chimneys. On the property is the site of Smouse Mill. The home was erected for John Jacob Smouse, who operated the mill.The Phoenix Mill Farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.Was used as a Bed and Breakfast till 2015 when the owner decided to sell the property.

Union Grove Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building in Dickens, Allegany County, Maryland. It is a one-story frame building, rectangular in plan, containing a single classroom and an entrance vestibule. It is the last remaining one-room schoolhouse on its original site and in unaltered condition in Allegany County.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Martin Mountain Ridge is a ridge located in Allegany County, Maryland lying 3.25 miles west of Flintstone, Maryland and extending into Pennsylvania. Its highest elevation is 1,980 feet. (N. 39°42' W. 78°38')

The name Allegany may come from a local Lenape word, welhik hane or oolikhanna, which means 'best flowing river of the hills' or 'beautiful stream'. A number of counties and a river in the Appalachian region of the U.S. are named Allegany, Allegheny, or Alleghany. Allegany County is part of the Cumberland, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is a part of the Western Maryland "panhandle".
