Battersby Hats was the trading name of Battersby & Co, a hat manufacturer of Stockport, England. The firm once had a capacity of 12,000 hats per week but it declined in the second half of the twentieth century and merged with other hat manufacturers in 1966 before hat production ceased altogether in 1997.

Offerton Park is an estate and former civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Stockport town centre. The parish boundaries exclude the area of Offerton Green further to the east. At the 2001 census, it had a population of 3,762.

Pear New Mill is a former Edwardian cotton spinning mill on the northern bank of the River Goyt in Bredbury, Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.Pear Mill was one of the last cotton spinning mills to be built in England, commencing production in July 1913. The architects were A.H. Stott & Sons but because of difficulties in financing, it was completed by P.S. Stott. The building is typical of their work, with concrete floors and meticulous detailing. It was designed as a double mill, but the second mill was never built. The power was provided by a Manhattan-type steam engine by George Saxon & Co. Transmission was by rope drives. The mill had 137,312 mule spindles which remained until the 1950s, when they were replaced by 33,636 ring spindles, the mill being electrified at the same time. It ceased operation as a textile mill in March 1978.

Offerton School was a state comprehensive secondary school located north of the A626 road near the River Goyt in Offerton, a suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester. The school catered for pupils aged 11 to 16 and was maintained by the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Due to a forced closure issued by the government, the school ceased to function in 2012. The school was originally known as Offerton Secondary School for Girls, Curzon Road, which was the first school to be built on the 50 acre campus in 1955, built by Stockport Corporation. it has 600 Girls. The second school to be built in 1960 was Goyt Bank Technical High School for Girls. It was a two-form entry grammar technical school, with girls moving there from the former Greek Street High School for Girls in Stockport. The third and final school to be built on the campus in 1964 was Stockport Technical High School for Boys. Stockport Technical High School (a boys' technical school) moved from Pendlebury Hall on Lancashire Hill to The Fairway at Offerton. It had 400 boys. It became Goyt Bank School in September 1972 when Offerton Secondary School for Girls, Goyt Bank High School for Girls and Stockport Technical High School for Boys merged on the Offerton Campus. It had 1500 Girls and Boys. In 1983 Goyt Bank merged with Dialstone Lane, and was renamed Offerton High School. Later it became Offerton School. Today, part of the former school site now houses Castle Hill High School, a special school that was relocated from Brinnington.

Founded in 1487 by former Lord Mayor of London Sir Edmund Shaa, it is the second oldest in the North of England, after Lancaster Royal Grammar School, and a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference.

Welkin Mill, Lower Bredbury is a cotton spinning mill in Lower Bredbury/Portwood, Stockport, Greater Manchester. It was built in the early years of the 20th century for ring spinning. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production ended in 1967. The 162,000 sq ft (15,100 m2), four-storey mill occupies a 5.15 acres (2.08 ha) site on Welkin Road.

Portwood is an area of Stockport, England, just east of the town centre along Great Portwood Street. The part closest to the town centre contains Meadow Mill and is mainly given over to shops (including The Peel Centre); the outer part is residential. The River Tame and Goyt and M60 motorway run through the area. The site of the former Stockport Portwood railway station lies under the M60 motorway.
