The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is a museum which houses collections relating to the life of Robert Burns, Scotland's national Bard. It is run by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) and is located within Alloway in Ayrshire, the village where Burns was born. It neighbours Burn's Cottage, the house in which Burns was born.

Alloway (Scottish Gaelic: Allmhaigh, pronounced [ˈal̪ˠavaj]) is a village in South Ayrshire, Scotland, located on the River Doon. It is best known as the birthplace of Robert Burns and the setting for his poem "Tam o' Shanter". Tobias Bachope, the mason responsible for the construction of Hopetoun House, Craigiehall, and Kinross House, also hailed from Alloway. Some historic parts of the village make up a conservation area. The village and surrounding areas were incorporated into the Royal Burgh of Ayr in 1935, and the extended village is now a suburb of Ayr.

Ayr Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club. Its professional men's side currently plays as Ayrshire Bulls in the Super 6 competition; and its women's side play in the Scottish Womens National One. The club also runs a "Club XV" which competes in the Tennent's National League 1, a 2nd XV "Ayr-Millbrae", which plays in the SRU West Reserve League Division 1, and various age group teams, from age 4, up to age 18. The Bulls are one of six franchises playing in the new Super6 competition and has a 35-strong playing squad, which includes loose-head prop Gordon Reid, who was in the Scotland squad at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and has joined Ayr, his first club, from London Irish. The team is based in Ayr in Scotland, and plays at Millbrae, Alloway.

The Alloway Auld Kirk, which dates back to the 16th century, is a ruin in Alloway, South Ayrshire, Scotland, celebrated as the scene of the witches' dance in the poem "Tam o' Shanter" by Robert Burns.

Cambusdoon was a cricket ground in Ayr, Scotland. The ground was used by Ayr Cricket Club until the club moved from the ground in 1997 to the purpose-built Cambusdoon New Ground.The first recorded match held on the ground was in 1931 when Ayr Cricket Club played against Kelburne Cricket Club.First-class cricket was first played there in 1958, when Scotland played against Ireland. A further first-class match was played there when Scotland played Ireland in 1974. The ground held its final recorded match in 1990 when Scotland Under-23s played Ireland Under-23s.

Burns Cottage, the first home of Robert Burns, in Alloway, South Ayrshire, Scotland was built by his father, William Burnes in 1757. Burns, Scotland's national poet, was born there on 25 January 1759. It is a four-roomed clay and thatch cottage and has been fully restored to become part of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.

The River Doon (Scottish Gaelic: Abhainn Dhùin, pronounced [avɪɲˈɣuːɲ]) is a river in Ayrshire, Scotland. Its course is generally north-westerly, passing near to the town of Dalmellington, and through the villages of Patna, Dalrymple, and Alloway, birthplace of Robert Burns. The source of the Doon is Loch Doon, high in the Galloway Hills. In the 1930s Loch Doon was dammed to provide water to the Galloway Hydro Electric Scheme, today operated by Scottish Power. The Doon is mentioned in Burns' classic narrative poem "Tam o' Shanter", along with the Brig o' Doon, which spans 72 feet (22 metres) across the river, just outside Alloway. The river is also the major setting for his lesser-known poem "The Banks O' Doon".
