Bumps River

Centerville River is a river in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. It drains out of Wequaquet Lake northwest of Hyannis, flows through Craigville, and empties into the Centerville Harbor which drains into the Atlantic Ocean east of Osterville. According to the Bicentennial history book commissioned by the Town of Barnstable ("Seven Villages of Barnstable"), the drainage path was natural below Pine Street, but was excavated by unemployed Civil War veterans in 1867. This work was paid for by the Town. Coincidentally, a "Nine Mile Pond Fishing Company" was chartered for extracting herring from Lake Wequaquet at the same time.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is a college athletic conference comprising schools that compete in 15 sports (13 men's and 13 women's). It has 220 member institutions in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, ranging in location from Maine to South Carolina and west to Missouri. Most or all members belong to at least one other athletic conference. The ECAC was founded as the Central Office for Eastern Intercollegiate Athletics in 1938, largely through the efforts of James Lynah of Cornell University. In 1983, the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (EAIAW) was consolidated into the ECAC. Most member schools are in other conferences as well, but through the ECAC they are able to participate in sports that their main conferences do not offer. Its headquarters are located in Danbury, Connecticut. The ECAC also now offers esports competitions to its member schools.

Four Seas Ice Cream is an independent ice cream shop located in Centerville, Massachusetts. It is one of the three oldest ice cream shops in New England. It has been the winner of many awards and citations over the years as the result of its flavors. In the past, it has been voted number seven on the list of Top 10 Ice Cream Parlors in the United States.

Centerville is one of the seven villages in the Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. Located on the South Side of Barnstable, Centerville is primarily residential, and includes a small business district as well as several notable beaches. It has its own elementary school and public library, and is home to the Centerville Historic District and the Centerville Historical Museum. Centerville contains the neighborhood of Craigville, which includes Craigville Beach. Centerville was originally named Chequaquet (meaning "pleasant harbor"). Centerville is the location of the award-winning, independent Four Seas Ice Cream shop on South Main Street near the intersection with Old Stage Road. It is also home to the Centerville Pie Company, mentioned on The Oprah Winfrey Show's 2010 "Oprah's Favorite Things" episode. Located on Pine Street is the St. Francis Xavier cemetery, which is the final resting place for Eunice Kennedy Shriver and her husband Sargent Shriver. In late June 1993, Jaleel White, who portrayed Steve Urkel on the sitcom Family Matters, performed in a one-man production of Fiddler on the Roof in front of the Centerville Public Library. The American composer Amy Beach frequently summered in Centerville during the 1920s and 1930s.

The Centerville Historic District is a historic district encompassing the heart of the village of Centerville in Barnstable, Massachusetts. The district extends along Main Street from a point north of its junction with Old Stage Road and Park Avenue, south to the junction with Church Hill Road. Most of the buildings in the district were built in the middle decades of the 19th century, although its oldest building, the Austin Bearse House, was built c. 1690. The area's growth was spurred by the relocation in 1826 of the Congregational Church building to its present location. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Craigville Beach is located on Nantucket Sound. It is located in Craigville (part of Centerville, Massachusetts) and is a very popular tourist hot spot on Cape Cod. Unlike many private Cape beaches which offer parking to residents only, Craigville is a public beach area, available to non-residents for a daily parking fee. In the summer, kite surfing is extremely popular. Craigville Beach is geologically contiguous with Covell's Beach to the east. The Covell's Beach parking lot is only open to Barnstable residents during peak times.The private Craigville Beach Association and The Beach Club flank the main public area. In Massachusetts, public property ends at the low tide line; only certain activities (not including recreational walking and sunbathing) are allowed by right between the low and high tide lines.

The Wianno Club is a historic club at 107 Sea View Avenue in Osterville, Massachusetts. The club began as the Cotocheset House, a Shingle-style structure built in 1882 on the site of a grander hotel that burned down in 1881. This hotel was the centerpiece of a major resort development for the wealthy that was mostly developed prior to World War I. In 1916 the newly founded club purchased the hotel property. The club built a nine-hole golf course on the original land purchase now occupied by holes numbered 13-18. The 16th was the first hole, and the Swan residence behind the hole was built as the original clubhouse. Additional land was assembled on the west side of Parker Road and north of West Bay Road and in 1919, Donald Ross was hired to redesign the original nine and to create a new nine.The main clubhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, as one of a very few surviving 19th-century hotel buildings, and is the centerpiece of the Wianno Historic District. It is a large three-story Shingle style building, with a variety of cross gables, projecting sections and porches typical of the style. A single-story wing was added to the northeast after the club took the building over, and a Colonial Revival porch was added in the 1920s. Its interiors contain much original detail. The club has also taken over the neighboring Tiffany Cottage as a guest house. Former Chief Justice of the United States Charles Evans Hughes died there in 1948.

The Wianno Historic District is a historic district in the Osterville section of Barnstable, Massachusetts. It encompasses a well-preserved summer resort area for the wealthy that was first developed in the late 19th century, focused around the Wianno Club, built in 1881 on the site of an earlier resort hotel. The 40-acre (16 ha) district has a significant number of well-preserved Shingle style and Colonial Revival houses. Architect Horace Frazer designed the Wianno Club, as well as a number of the private residences in the district. The district is roughly bounded by East Bay Road, Wianno and Sea View Avenues between Nantucket Sound and Crystal Lake. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Shubael Baxter House is a historic house in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Built c. 1829 by a ship's captain, it underwent a major transformation into a Colonial Revival mansion in the early 20th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 for its architectural significance.
