Ashworth is a hamlet within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies in the Ashworth Valley, on the western edge of Rochdale, set amongst the Pennines. It is separated from Rochdale by the Norden Brook.

Bamford is an affluent suburban area within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. Together with neighbouring Birtle, it formed the civil parish of Birtle-with-Bamford (also known as Birtle-cum-Bamford). It was in Middleton ecclesiastical parish and in Bury poor law Union. In 1933, Birtle-with-Bamford was dissolved with Bamford being amalgamated into the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale in 1974. The Bamford ward lies in the Heywood and Middleton constituency represented in the Houses of Parliament. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 9,693.

Norden is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire. The village is situated on the western outskirts of Rochdale. There is a Rochdale Ward with the same name. Based on the 2021 Census, this ward had a population of 9,733.As a result of changes to boundaries, Norden ward is divided between the Heywood and Middleton and Rochdale constituencies, represented in Parliament by Chris Clarkson (of the Conservative Party) and Tony Lloyd (of the Labour Party). The main road through the village is the A680 Edenfield Road, which runs from Rochdale town centre to the village of Edenfield within the Rossendale borough of Lancashire. Norden is the home of Norden Cricket Club, who play in the Central Lancashire League.

Naden Brook is a watercourse in northwest England. It rises in the hills above Norden, near the boundary of Lancashire and Greater Manchester. From here it flows south to Heywood, where it merges with the River Roch.

Greenbooth Reservoir is a reservoir to the north of Heywood and close to Norden in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, within Greater Manchester, England. In 1846, Heywood Waterworks Company finished constructing the Naden Reservoirs (Lower Naden, Middle Naden and Higher Naden) in the valley above the village of Greenbooth. By the 1950s, the village consisted of around 80 cottages, a sweet shop, a Co-op store and a school. There was also a woollen mill.In 1958, Heywood and Middleton Water Board decided that another reservoir was needed to supply water to the growing population of Rochdale and started construction of Greenbooth Reservoir that same year. It took over two years to build, with the village abandoned, mostly demolished and then submerged. The reservoir was completed in 1961 and officially opened in August 1965.The only visible reminder of Greenbooth village today is a plaque on the side of the reservoir dam wall which reads: "This tablet commemorates the village of Greenbooth, the site of which is submerged beneath the waters of this reservoir."The four reservoirs are in a peaceful area for a country walk with good views of Manchester in the distance. Some of the wind turbines of Scout Moor Wind Farm are also visible from the surrounding paths.

Birtle is a hamlet within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies in the Cheesden Valley, set amongst the Pennines. Historically a part of Lancashire, Birtle is archaically referred to as Bircle or Birkle, which means Birch Hill. Together with neighbouring Bamford, it formed the civil parish of Birtle-with-Bamford (also known as Birtle-cum-Bamford). It was in Middleton ecclesiastical parish and in Bury poor law Union. In 1933, Birtle-with-Bamford was dissolved with Birtle being amalgamated into the Municipal Borough of Heywood.The local church is Bircle Church, St. John the Baptist, Castle Hill Road, Bircle, Bury. In addition to the graveyard and garden of remembrance, the Church land includes an area now known as 'Bircle Church Wood', which was gifted by the Reverend Trend Smith.

Wrigley Brook is a culverted watercourse in Greater Manchester which flows through Heywood and is a tributary of the River Roch. Originating in the Hareshill area to the South of Heywood, it flows northwards and joins the River Roch at Bottom O' th' Brow.

Millers Brook is a watercourse in Greater Manchester and tributary of the River Roch. It originates in Heywood and flows through Queens Park to join the River Roch.

The Church of St Luke is an Anglican parish church on York Street in Heywood, a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. It is an active church in the Diocese of Manchester and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II* listed building. Designed by the architect Joseph Clarke and built between 1860 and 1862, the church has an 188-foot (57 m) tower with a spire that forms one of the town's most recognisable landmarks.

Crimble Mill is a Grade II* listed former textile mill on Crimble Lane, Heywood, in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire, it was built in the early 19th century for cotton spinning and later adapted for wool production. Vacant since 2002, the mill is on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register following years of deterioration, including a partial roof collapse in 2019. A major redevelopment approved in 2023 aims to restore the building for residential and commercial use.
