Siege of Snoghøj

Snoghøj is a southern suburb of Fredericia, Denmark (at 55.52°N and 9.72°E), between Erritsø and Middelfart that developed because of the Højskole (folk high school) that was built there. The town has a population of nearly 3,000 people, and an average of 16 snow days and 97 rain days per year. The average temperature is 2 degrees Celsius in the winter, and 14 degrees Celsius in the summer. From Snoghøj, the 1,178-metre long Little Belt Bridge connects Jutland with Funen over the Little Belt strait.

Middelfart railway station (Danish: Middelfart Station or Middelfart Banegård) is a railway station serving the town of Middelfart on the western part of the island of Funen, Denmark. It is located in the centre of the town, on the southern edge of the historic town centre. Middelfart station is located on the main line Copenhagen–Fredericia railway from Copenhagen to Funen and Jutland. The station offers direct InterCity services to Copenhagen, Funen and Jutland, regional rail services to Fredericia and Odense operated by the national railway company DSB. The current station is the second station in Nyborg. The first station in the town opened in 1865 as the western terminus of the Funen Main Line between Nyborg and Middelfart via Odense. The original station was the terminus of the Middelfart–Strib railway line, a short branch line to the harbour at Strib from where there was connection via railway ferry across the Little Belt to Fredericia in the Jutland peninsula. Middelfart station was moved to its current location in 1935 with the opening of the Little Belt Bridge. Its second and current station building from 1935 was designed by the architect Knud Tanggaard Seest.

The New Little Belt Bridge (Danish: Nye Lillebæltsbro) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Little Belt strait between Jutland (Jylland) and the island of Funen (Fyn) in Denmark. The bridge is 1,700 metres long, the main span is 600 metres, the pylons reaching a height of 120 metres, and the maximum clearance from the sea is 44 metres. The New Little Belt Bridge was built from 1965 to 1970 and was opened by King Frederik IX on 21 October 1970. The bridge was constructed to alleviate congestion on the Old Little Belt Bridge due to the increasing car traffic between Jutland and Funen. It is a motorway on the E20 bridge with three-lane carriageways as opposed to the single lanes of the old bridge. The bridge has heating in the road deck, so it can be kept free of ice and snow in winter. Passing over Little Belt Bridge is toll-free.

Hindsgavl Castle (Danish: Hindsgavl Slot) is a historic manor house located near Middelfart on the island of Funen in Denmark.

The 1998 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships were held in Middelfart, Denmark on Saturday 31 January 1998. The course was dry, hard and technical. Weather conditions were sunny and freezing (-2°C).

Middelfart Municipality (Danish: Middelfart Kommune) is a kommune in the Region of Southern Denmark, located on the west coast of the island of Funen in southern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 297 km² and has a total population of 39,961 (2023). Its mayor is Johannes Lundsfryd Jensen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Middelfart. The Snævringen ("The Narrowing"), is the strait that separates the island of Funen from the Jutland mainland in this area, where the two lie very close to each other, often less than 1.5 km apart. Snævringen is an extension of the Kattegat, and begins near the cities of Fredericia and Middelfart. To the south of the municipality is Fænø Strait (Fænø Sund), which separates Funen from the municipality's island of Fænø. On 1 January 2007 Middelfart municipality was, as the result of The Municipal Reform, merged with Ejby and Nørre Aaby municipalities to form an enlarged Middelfart municipality. The municipality is part of Triangle Region and of the East Jutland metropolitan area, which had a total population of 1.378 million in 2016.

The Port of Fredericia is a port facility located on Denmark's Little Belt, 45 km. WNW of Odense. A multipurpose port, Fredericia handles breakbulk, dry bulk, containers and tanker traffic.

Fænø is a small Danish island in the Little Belt off the west coast of Funen in Middelfart Municipality. With an area of 3.9 km2, as of 1 January 2010 it has a population of just 2. Reaching a height of 39 metres above sea level at its highest point, the island is privately owned. Fænøgård, which used to be the island's farm, has now been completely rebuilt in an architecturally modern style. It caters for private parties and has residential facilities. The island is separated from Funen by the 500-meter-wide Fænø Sund and can be reached by private ferry.

Fredericia station (Danish: Fredericia Banegård or Fredericia Station) is a railway station serving the city of Fredericia in Jutland, Denmark.Fredericia station is an important railway junction where the Copenhagen-Fredericia Line, the Fredericia-Aarhus Line, and the Flensburg-Fredericia Line all cross each other. The station was opened in 1935 together with the opening of the Little Belt Bridge across the Little Belt. The train services are operated by the railway company DSB.

The siege of Fredriksodde, also known as the Storming of Fredriksodde (Swedish: Stormningen av Frederiksodde; Danish: Stormen på Frederiksodde) and the conquest of Fredriksodde (Swedish: Erövringen av Fredriksodde), was a successful Swedish siege of the fortress and town of Fredriksodde (modern day Fredericia) in 1657 during the Dano-Swedish War of 1657–1658. The siege and the subsequent capture of the fortress by Swedish forces completed the Swedish conquest of Jutland.
