Barlow Planetarium

The University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, Fox Cities Campus (abbreviated as UWO Fox Cities and formerly known as the University of Wisconsin–Fox Valley) is a branch campus of the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh and a member of the Universities of Wisconsin. It is located on 41 acres (17 ha) in Menasha, Wisconsin. Prior to its merger with the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh in July 2018, the campus was a member of the University of Wisconsin Colleges. As of 2022, the campus enrolls 605 students, making it the second-largest of the UW branch campuses.

The Valley Fair Shopping Center, Valley Fair Mall, or Valley Fair Center was a shopping mall in Appleton, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin that opened on March 10, 1955. This enclosed mall was among the first to ever be built within the United States, and was the first to ever open. Demolition of parts of the shopping center began on August 8, 2007.

Menasha was a town in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States, west of the Fox River across from the city of Menasha, Wisconsin. The population was 18,498 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous town in the state of Wisconsin at the time of its dissolution. The unincorporated community of Waverly Beach was located partially in the town. In an April 2016 referendum, the portion of the town west of Little Lake Butte des Morts voted to become the village of Fox Crossing. The remaining portions of the town were annexed to Fox Crossing on September 22, 2016, effectively ending the existence of the town.

Waverly Beach is an unincorporated community in the Town of Harrison, Calumet County, Wisconsin and Fox Crossing, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. The Calumet County portion of Waverly Beach is located on the north shore of Lake Winnebago along U.S. Route 10 and the Canadian National Railway, 3.6 miles (5.8 km) south of downtown Appleton.

St. Elizabeth Hospital, officially Ascension Northeast Wisconsin St. Elizabeth Hospital, is a hospital founded in 1899 that serves the south side of Appleton, in Outagamie County, Wisconsin. Its emergency department is a level III trauma center.

Menasha () is a city in Calumet and Winnebago counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 18,268 at the 2020 census. Of this, 15,144 were in Winnebago County, and 2,209 were in Calumet County. The city is located mostly in Winnebago County; only a small portion is in the Town of Harrison in Calumet County. Doty Island is located partially in Menasha. The city's name comes from the Winnebago word meaning "thorn" or "island". In the Menominee language, it is known as Menāēhsaeh, meaning "little island".Menasha is home to the Barlow Planetarium and Weis Earth Science Museum, both housed at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Fox Cities Campus.

The Vulcan Street Plant was the first Edison hydroelectric central station. The plant was built on the Fox River in Appleton, Wisconsin, and put into operation on September 30, 1882. According to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Vulcan Street plant is considered to be "the first hydro-electric central station to serve a system of private and commercial customers in North America". It is a National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark, an IEEE milestone and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.The Vulcan Street Plant was housed in the Appleton Paper and Pulp Company building, which burned to the ground in 1891. A replica of the Vulcan Street Plant was later built on South Oneida Street.

The Hearthstone Historic House Museum is a historic home in Appleton, Wisconsin, United States that has been converted into a museum. On September 30, 1882, it became the first residence in the US powered by a centrally located hydroelectric station using the Edison system. At that time, the house was the residence of Henry James Rogers, a paper company executive and entrepreneur. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1974. The house was previously known as the Henry J. Rogers House.

The Fox Cities of Northeastern Wisconsin are the cities, towns and villages along the Fox River as it flows from Lake Winnebago northward into Green Bay. The villages of Combined Locks (pop. 3,588), Fox Crossing (19,029), Harrison (11,532), Hortonville (2,767), Kimberly (6,803), Little Chute (11,564), Sherwood (2,985), and Greenville (10,309) The towns of Buchanan (pop. 6,755), Clayton (3,951), Freedom (5,842), Grand Chute (20,919), Greenville, Kaukauna (1,238), Neenah (3,237), Vandenbroek (1,474).Major points of interest include the Fox Cities Exhibition Center, Community First Champion Center, Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, High Cliff State Park, and Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The Fox River Mall is the largest shopping mall in the state at 1.2 million square feet.Area post-secondary schools include Fox Valley Technical College, Lawrence University, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Fox Cities Campus. Bus transit for the area is provided by Valley Transit and commercial airline service is provided by Appleton International Airport. Major highway routes in the area include: Interstate 41/U.S. Route 41, which connects the Fox Cities with Green Bay and Milwaukee; Wisconsin Highway 441, known locally as the Tri-County Expressway, which is an auxiliary highway of Interstate 41 that serves as a beltway around Appleton; and U.S. Route 10 which travels east–west, connecting the Fox Cities with Stevens Point, Waupaca and Manitowoc, along with Interstate 39 and Wausau. Television and radio stations in the area, usually originating out of Green Bay, utilize the term "Green Bay/Fox Cities" in their station identifications to encompass both major population centers in the region.

The Atlas Science Center, formerly Paper Discovery Center, is a museum and workshop center focused on papermaking in Appleton, Wisconsin, United States, where paper is an important local industry. Programs in the past have included hands-on work experience, tours, and general information on papermaking. There is a Science Summer Series for children at the center.The Paper Discovery Center opened in February 2005. It was first conceived in 1999 as part of the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame, Inc. The Kimberly-Clark Corporation donated its former Atlas Mill on the Fox River in Appleton to house the center.

Xavier High School is a private Catholic secondary school in Appleton, Wisconsin, United States, in the Diocese of Green Bay. It was opened in 1959 by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (Christian Brothers) and the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity (Manitowoc Franciscans). The school was named in honor of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of the Green Bay Diocese.
