Dörentrup

The Amelungsburg is a 292-metre (958 ft) high hill in the Lippe Uplands in central Germany, in the municipality of Dörentrup in the district of Lippe. The Amelungsburg is believed to be the observation hill (Warthberg) belonging to the Piepenkopf rampart system located on its south-southwestern spur. Investigations into the charred remains (Brandfunde) at the site of the settlement with its double-embankment have been dated to 250 B.C. and can thus be presumed to have belonged to the La Tène culture. The settlement was not rebuilt. At the southwestern foot of the Amelungsburg today is a still easily recognised, roughly 2-metre-high section of the ramparts with a 1.5-metre-deep ditch. It is suspected that this advanced rampart used to guard the road system.In order to beat looters, the refuge castle has been investigated. Excavations on the plateau of the Amelungsburg unearthed about 300 individual items. In a number of spots there were both single and multiple hordes of goods.

The Lower Saxon Hills (German: Niedersächsisches Bergland) are one of the 73 natural regions in Germany defined by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). Geographically it covers roughly the same area as the Weser Uplands (German: Weserbergland) in its wider sense.The region is part of Germany's Central Uplands with hills ranging up to 528 m above sea level (NN) in height that extend across northeast North Rhine-Westphalia, southern Lower Saxony and northern Hesse. It is classified as region number D 36 by the BfN; its full name being the Niedersächsisches Bergland (mit Weser- und Leine-Bergland (Lower Saxon Hills, including the Weser and Leine Hills). D 36 is a newly defined region that incorporates 3 geographical units from the old system: numbers 36, 37 and 53, and includes all parts of the Weser Uplands (Weserbergland) in both its narrower and a wider sense. That said, all three elements of the region, despite their misleading names, cover far more than is generally meant in everyday language or in atlases by the term Weserbergland. In addition the Weser-Leine Hills sub-division (37) includes the whole of the Leine Uplands (Leinebergland), whilst the Harz mountains, admittedly are only partly in Lower Saxony, are clearly older in geological time scale and have been given their own natural region (D37) rather than being grouped with the lower Saxon Hills.

Neighboring districts are Herford, Minden-Lübbecke, Höxter, Paderborn, Gütersloh, and district-free Bielefeld, which forms the region Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The district of Lippe is named after the Lords of Lippe, who originally lived on the river Lippe and founded Lippstadt there, and their Principality of Lippe. It was a state within the Holy Roman Empire and retained statehood until 1947, when it became a district of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Lemgo-Lüttfeld is a railway station located in Lemgo, Germany. The station was opened on 28 July 2007 is located on the Bielefeld-Hameln railway. The train services are operated by Eurobahn.

The Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (abbreviated: THOWL) is a state tech university in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe area in Lemgo, which is part of North Rhine-Westphalia. For several years, the university has been one of the ten most research-intensive universities of applied sciences in Germany. Extertal is located on the northern edge of the circle in the Teutoburg Nature Reserve, directly adjacent to Lower Saxony. The Exter and Humme rivers flow through the region. The municipality has its headquarters in the Bösingfeld district. Neighbouring cities are Rinteln, Aerzen, Barntrup, Dörentrup and Kalletal. The highest point of the city is at 371 metres above sea level. The municipality dimensions are about 12.2 kilometres east-west and about 12.5 kilometres north-south.
