Milliken-Smith Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Montgomery in Orange County, New York. Contributing buildings include the Milliken-Smith house (built in 1770 and expanded about 1870), a large timber-frame barn dated to the 18th century, a light frame chicken house (c. 1900), and a banded wood storage silo. The earliest portion of the house is a 1+1⁄2-story timber-frame building. It was expanded during the 1870s with a 2-story light frame addition. A non-historic addition was completed in 1962.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Peale's Barber Farm Mastodon Exhumation Site, near Montgomery, New York, is the site of an 1801 exhumation of a mastodon which became "the world's first fully articulated prehistoric skeleton". The exhumation was led by artist/scientist Charles Willson Peale.The site was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 20, 2009. The listing was announced as the featured listing in the National Park Service's weekly list of November 6, 2009.The mastodon skeleton is exhibited at the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt in Darmstadt, Germany, though it was returned to the US for a temporary exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The Montgomery Worsted Mills, known today as Montgomery Mills, is along the Wallkill River at the end of Factory Street in the Orange County village of Montgomery, New York. It was one of the earliest efforts to harness the river for industrial purposes. Founders Arthur Patchett and William Crabtree became prosperous and upstanding citizens who left their mark on the community they lived in. Many of the homes on the nearby stretch of Factory Street were built by them for their family, and their descendants still live in the Montgomery area. The mills are still in operation too, but are no longer property of the family or used to mill textiles. While they sell yarn, today the mill is primarily an electric power generation station. A deal is in the works to make it a City Winery.

Valley Central High School is located in Montgomery, New York. It educates students in grades 9-12 in the Valley Central School District, which includes much of the town of Montgomery, portions of neighboring Wallkill and Newburgh and the three villages of Maybrook, Montgomery and Walden as well as parts of Campbell Hall and Coldenham.

The Montgomery Water Works is located along NY 17K in the village of Montgomery, New York. The two small brick buildings were built in 1895 on land sold to the village by Arthur Patchett, whose own house still stands across the road. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. As of 2007 a new senior housing development has been built near the water works. Workers had to take care to avoid damage to the building.

The Patchett House is located at Ward Street (NY 17K), on the junction with Factory Street, in Montgomery, New York. It was originally built in the early 19th century as a tavern serving travelers on the Newburgh–Cochecton Turnpike, whose eastern half 17K follows today. Arthur Patchett, at the time co-owner of the Montgomery Worsted Mills at the end of Factory Street on the Wallkill River, moved into the house sometime in the 1890s. His family continued living there until the 1970s. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Later on, though, it remained vacant and by the end of the century had fallen into serious neglect and disrepair. In 2005, serious renovations were undertaken and today the house looks as good as new. The most recent tenants are the nonprofit artist's environmental cooperative Wallkill River School. A nearby townhouse complex is named Patchett Crossing. The Montgomery Water Works, built on land originally owned by the Patchetts, stands almost just across 17K, and the Orange County Choppers production facility is just up the street.

The Smith House is a historic home located on Albany Post Road in Town of Montgomery, Orange County, New York, approximately two miles north of NY 17K and a mile southwest of Walden. In 1759 one of the town's original settlers, Wilhelm Schmitt (later Anglicized to Smith) built a stone house on the site. His descendants replaced it in 1850 with a Greek Revival-styled house that incorporates some of the original fabric.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The Walden Veterans' Memorial Bridge, sometimes referred as the Walden High Bridge, from its predecessor, carries NY 52 over the Wallkill River in the Orange County village of Walden, New York, United States. It is the more heavily used of the two bridges in the village. The current bridge was built between 2003 and 2005 when its predecessor, a steel truss bridge built in the 1920s, had to be completely torn down due to severe deterioration of the support foundations. While construction was underway, traffic on Route 52 was diverted down Oak Street to the Walden Low Bridge. The new bridge features some architectural improvements, such as lighting and wide sidewalks on both sides. The bridge was officially renamed in honor of the village's war veterans under state law passed in 2004. Banners naming individual residents and commemorating their service flutter from the decorative lampposts along the bridge.

The Jacob T. Walden Stone House is on North Montgomery Street (NY 52) near the intersection with Wait Street in Walden, New York. It was built around 1785, around the time the thousand-acre (400 ha) Gatehouse Patent was first sold, and is one of the oldest houses remaining in the area.In the 1820s, Jacob Treadwell Walden, a successful shipping merchant, came to the area from New York City and saw the potential of the Wallkill River for powering textile mills. With him, he brought Jesse Scofield and Dr. Seth Capron who had expertise in running woolen mills. They formed the Franklin Company to finance mills in Walden and dammed the Wallkill [which runs through the middle of Walden] above the falls, creating a power station that remains in use today. He resided there with his family beginning in the 1820s until sometime after 1840. (See U.S. Federal Census for 1840) On the waning of the textile mills, he returned to New York City and died there in 1855. The village of Walden, New York bears Jacob Walden's name.The Jacob T. Walden House houses the Walden Historical Society, and is open to the public as a museum on a limited basis. In 2005, the exterior underwent extensive restoration.

The Walden Low Bridge is the downstream of the two bridges over the Wallkill River in Walden, New York, United States. It gets its name from being lower to the river than the Walden High Bridge a short distance upstream (replaced in 2005 by the new Walden Veterans' Memorial Bridge). It is a steel continuous truss bridge built in 1987, the latest in a series of bridges at that location that have been in place for at least a century. At 349 feet (105.7 m) in length, it is the longest bridge over the river in Orange County that carries a surface road. Traffic on the bridge is low since it carries Oak Street, a local road, primarily residential, within the village. It is important to traffic circulation within Walden since its eastern approach is also the main entrance to the popular Thruway Market hypermarket complex. Drivers coming into Walden from the west or southwest also use it to cross the Wallkill and bypass downtown Walden via Thruway's parking lot, back entrance and Albany Avenue to NY 208 northbound. During the construction of the new bridge, NY 52 was temporarily rerouted onto Oak Street, and traffic lights were erected for the duration at the 52/Oak Street junction and the Thruway entrance, causing some congestion at rush hours.Like its counterpart, the Low Bridge is just downstream from a dam built to harness the river's power for industrial uses in the late 19th century. The shallows just below it are a popular place for anglers during the state fishing season.
