Charminster is a residential and commercial suburb of Bournemouth in Dorset, situated between the suburbs of Springbourne (to the south-east) and Winton (to the north-west). It was incorporated into the County Borough of Bournemouth in 1901.

Bournemouth East was the first railway station to be built in Bournemouth, Dorset, England. Completed in March 1870, it was sited at the south-east side of the Holdenhurst Road bridge, opposite the current station, at the end of an extension of an existing branch from Ringwood to Christchurch which had originally opened on 13 November 1862. The facilities offered by this station were very basic and not befitting a wealthy town which by 1871 had reached 5,900 inhabitants. The second station in the town, Bournemouth West, opened on 20 July 1874, and it was a far more substantial affair at the end of a new branch from Poole. It was closed and replaced by the new Bournemouth East station, on the opposite (north-west) side of the Holdenhurst Road bridge, on 20 July 1885.

Bournemouth railway station is the main railway station serving the seaside town of Bournemouth, Dorset, England. It was previously known as Bournemouth East (1885 to 1899) and then Bournemouth Central (1899 to 1967). It has long been treated as an obligatory stop (major stop) on the South West Main Line from London Waterloo to Weymouth. It is 108 miles 2 chains (173.8 km) down the main line from Waterloo and is situated between Pokesdown and Branksome. A previous incarnation of Bournemouth East station was on another site. Ticket barriers were installed in 2008 and British Transport Police have a Bournemouth office at the station which acts as a regional hub.

Springbourne is a suburb of Bournemouth in Dorset, England (historically in Hampshire). It occupies the north-east part of the main built-up area, north of Boscombe. Its formal boundaries are Northcote Road to the west, the Wessex Way (A338) to the north, Ashley Road to the east, and the railway line to the south. Its main road, Holdenhurst Road, was formerly the A338, the main road into Bournemouth from the north and north-east. It has now been bypassed, but it is still one of the main shopping streets and bus routes of Bournemouth.

The Langtry Manor (formerly the Red House) is a country house hotel at 26 Derby Road in the East Cliff area of Bournemouth, England. The foundation stone is inscribed "E.L.L. 1877". A residence for 60 years, it was originally known as the "Red House", and after 1937 the "Manor Heath Hotel", before being renamed the Langtry Manor in the late 1970s. Originally built and owned by widowed women's rights campaigner and temperance activist Emily Langton Langton (1847–1897), after her death the house was sold. In 1938 a new set of owners converted it into a hotel, "Manor Heath Hotel", which advertised it as having been built originally for Lillie Langtry by the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). However, despite the hotel's claims and local legend, no actual association between Langtry and the house ever existed.
