Chiesa di Santa Giusta a Bazzano (Italian for Church of Santa Giusta in Bazzano) is a Romanesque church in Bazzano, frazione of L'Aquila (Abruzzo).

Paganica is a hillside town in the province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of southern Italy. located at 669 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Gran Sasso d'Italia, about 7 kilometers east of the historic center, along the state road 17 bis that from Bazzano climbs to Campo Imperatore passing for Tempèra, Camarda, Assergi and Fonte Cerreto, with a population of about 5 000 inhabitants, making it the largest fraction of the city, as well as of considerable economic importance. It is a frazione of the comune of L'Aquila (which is some 7 km far), and has a population of about 5,000. On April 6, 2009, the center was hit by a disastrous earthquake which caused heavy damage to the town (including a burst water pipe, which caused a landslide), resulting in an almost total evacuation. In 2011 the restoration works began, which have recovered part of the historical heritage, and the influx of the population.

Aveia was an ancient town of the Vestini and Roman former bishopric, which remains a Latin Catholic titular see. Its site is on the Via Claudia Nova, c. 10 km south-east of L'Aquila, N.E. of the modern village of Fossa, in central Italy's Abruzzo region. Some remains of ancient buildings still exist, and the name Aveia still clings to the place. The identification was first made by V. M. Giovenazzi in Della Città di Aveia ne' Vestini (1773). Paintings in the church of S. Maria ad Cryptas, of the 12th to 15th centuries, are important in the history of art. An inscription of a stationarius of the 3rd century, sent here on special duty (no doubt for the suppression of brigandage), was found here in 1902.

Camarda is a frazione (parish or ward) in the comune of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It is situated on the western slopes of the Gran Sasso, at about 800 meters above sea level, along the state road 17-bis that from Bazzano goes up to Campo Imperatore passing through Paganica, Tempera, Assergi and Fonte Cerreto, once an autonomous municipality before being aggregated to the capital and now seat of the ninth district of the municipality. In literature, it is known, above all, through the novella in rima entitled La Bella di Camarda, a work by Emidio Cappelli, published in 1857 and reprinted in 1858.

The Orto Botanico dell'Università dell'Aquila, also known as the Orto Botanico di Collemaggio, is a botanical garden in L'Aquila, Abruzzo, central Italy, operated by the University of L'Aquila. Measuring 5.5 hectares, it is located near the basilica di Collemaggio. The garden contains about 460 species, including many indigenous to Abruzzo such as Adonis flammea subsp. cortiana, Anchusa hybrida, Campanula cavolinii, Cerastium scarani, Dianthus ciliatus, and Linaria purpurea.
