Walton Pier

Walton and Frinton Lifeboat Station is an RNLI station located in the town of Walton-on-the-Naze in the English county of Essex. As of April 2024, the All-weather Tamar lifeboat has been permanently withdrawn. The station is awaiting the arrival of an D-class Inshore lifeboat.

Walton-on-the-Naze railway station is one of the two eastern termini of the Sunshine Coast Line, a branch of the Great Eastern Main Line, in the East of England. It serves the seaside town of Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex. It is 70 miles 15 chains (113.0 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street. Its three-letter station code is WON. The preceding station on the line is Frinton-on-Sea. The station was opened by the Tendring Hundred Railway, a subsidiary of the Great Eastern Railway, in 1867. It is currently managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving the station.

Walton-on-the-Naze is a seaside town on the North Sea coast. It is part of the parish of Frinton and Walton, in the Tendring district in Essex, England. The town is located north of Clacton and south of the port of Harwich; Frinton-on-Sea lies to the south of the town. The town has a population of 12,054, according to the 2011 census; in 1931, the parish had a population of 3,071. The town attracts many visitors; The Naze and the pier are the main attractions. The parish was earlier known as Eadolfenaesse and then as Walton-le-Soken. The name Walton is a common one meaning a 'farmstead or village of the Britons', while 'Soken' denotes the soke (an area of special jurisdiction) that included Thorpe, Kirby and Walton, which were not under the see of London but under the chapter of St Paul's Cathedral. Walton had a HM Coastguard team and was home to the Thames MRCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre), organising rescues from Southwold to Herne Bay. It closed in June 2015, as part of a Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) modernisation programme, transferring its operations to a national centre in Fareham on the south coast. Walton-on-the-Naze railway station is on a branch of the Sunshine Coast Line. Along the coast there are many fossils to be found, some have been found to be up to 50 million years old. Rocks include red crag and London clay.

Frinton Park Estate was a project at Frinton-on-Sea in Essex, England, supervised by the architect Oliver Hill, to create a housing estate which would include many examples of modernist architecture. In the event, not all the intended houses were built; many of these remain, some of which are now listed buildings.

Frinton and Walton is a civil parish in the Tendring district of Essex, England. It is a successor parish, established in 1974 to replace the Frinton and Walton Urban District. The parish council was created to replace Frinton and Walton Urban District Council at the same time. The previously separate parishes of Frinton, Great Holland, Kirby le Soken and Walton le Soken had been combined in 1934 as part of a Local Government Act 1929 review to form a new parish and urban district of Frinton and Walton. It had a population of 19,039 according to the 2001 census, reducing to 18,845 at the 2011 census. The parish consists of the towns of Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze, together with the villages of Kirby-le-Soken, Kirby Cross and Great Holland.

The Naze SSSI is a 22 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest on The Naze peninsula north of Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site both for its Pleistocene fossils and for its birds. It is part of The Naze Nature Reserve, which is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. The citation for this site states that the cliffs expose many invertebrate fossils from the early Pleistocene Red Crag Formation, and it is the type site for the Waltonian, the first British stage of the Pleistocene. However, some authorities date the Red Crag and the Waltonian to the Piacenzian, the last stage of the preceding Pliocene. The site is also significant for its Eocene (56 to 34 million years ago) plant and avian fossils, and it is described by Natural England as "of considerable importance in the study of bird evolution". The beach below the cliff is open to the public.

The Hanoverian tower, more commonly known as the Naze Tower, is situated at the start of the open area of the Naze. It was a navigational tower, constructed to assist ships on this otherwise fairly feature-less coast. Visitors can climb the 111-step spiral staircase to the top of the 86-foot (26 m) tower for a 360 degree view of the beach and countryside. The Naze Tower features a museum with exhibits about the tower, the ecology and geology of the Naze, and the coastal erosion problem. The tower also features a private art gallery on six floors with changing exhibits several times a year, and a tea room. The tower is privately owned.

The Naze is a headland on the east coast of England. It is on the coast of Essex just north of Blackwater and projects into the North Sea. This area is south of the double estuary of the River Stour and River Orwell at Harwich and just north of the town of Walton-on-the-Naze. It is also the location of the Naze Tower, an 18th-century monument. The Naze is a peninsula north of the town. It is important for migrating birds and it has a small nature reserve. The marshes of Hamford Water behind the town are also of ornithological interest, with wintering ducks and brent geese. Many bird watchers visit at migration times.

Tendring Technology College is a secondary school with Sixth Form College located in Essex, England. It is one of the six secondary schools in the Tendring district, along with Clacton Coastal Academy, Clacton County High School, Colne, Manningtree High School and the Harwich and Dovercourt High School. The college has been rated 'Inadequate' by Ofsted in 2021. The Academy is currently subject of a Termination Warning.

The Naze Nature Reserve is a 45 hectare nature reserve on The Naze peninsula north of Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust,. Part of it, The Naze SSSI, is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Geological Conservation Review site. This coastal site has a variety of terrestrial and marine habitats, and many migrating and nesting birds, such as dark bellied brent geese, sedge warblers, barn owls and whitethroats. The cliff is eroding at one to two metres a year. There is access from Old Hall Lane, where the visitor centre is located.

John Weston Nature Reserve is a 3.6-hectare (8.9-acre) nature reserve north of Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.This site is named after its former warden, who died in 1984. It has rough grassland, blackthorn and bramble scrub and four ponds. Nesting birds include the lesser and common whitethroat, and there are flora such as slender thistle, pepper saxifrage and fenugreek.There is access from Naze Park Road.

Frinton-on-Sea is a seaside town and (as just Frinton) a former civil parish, now in the parish of Frinton and Walton, in the Tendring district of Essex, England. In 2018 it had an estimated population of 4,837.
