O Eume

The Fragas do Eume is a natural park situated in north-west Spain. Fraga is a Galician word for "natural woodland", (old-growth forest) and the park is an example of a temperate rainforest in which oak (Quercus robur and Quercus pyrenaica) is the climax vegetation. The protected area extends along the valley of the Eume River within the Ferrol municipalities of Pontedeume, Cabanas, A Capela, Monfero, Pontedeume, and As Pontes de García Rodríguez. Less than 500 people reside within the park, where the San Juan de Caaveiro Monastery can also be found here. The area was declared a natural park (a level of protection lower than national park) in 1997. It is one of six natural parks in Galicia. The European Union has recognized the park as a Site of Community Importance. In addition to its wide variety of ferns, it is an important site for amphibians and invertebrates such as the Kerry slug.

The Monastery of San Xoán de Caaveiro (Galician: Mosteiro de San Xoán de Caaveiro) is a Galician monastery founded in the tenth century by Saint Rudesind. It is situated in A Capela, in Galicia, within the Fragas do Eume natural park.

Monfero is a municipality in the comarca of Eume in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It has a population of 2,178 inhabitants (INE, 2011).

Lake As Pontes (Spanish: Lago de As Pontes, Galician: Lago das Pontes) is an artificial lake in the municipality of As Pontes, Galicia (Spain). The site of the lake is a former Lignite mine operated by Spanish energy company Endesa. Once filled it will be the largest lake in Spain.

Pontedeume (Galician pronunciation: [ˌponteˈðewmɪ]) is a municipality in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. The town was founded ex novo by the town charter of Alfonso X the Wise in 1270. The town is located on the English Way path of the Camino de Santiago.

Ferrol is a coastal comarca in the northwest of the province of A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. It is also known as Ferrolterra. The area is 613.4 km2, and the overall population of this comarca was 161,154 at the 2011 Census; the latest official estimate (at the start of 2018) was 153,776.

Unión Deportiva Somozas is a football team based in As Somozas in the autonomous community of Galicia. Founded in 1984, the team plays in Tercera Federación – Group 1. The club's home ground is Pardiñas, which has a capacity of 1,500 spectators.

Endesa Termic is a 356-metre-high (1,168 ft) chimney belonging to the coal power plant held by Spanish utility Endesa at As Pontes de García Rodríguez in the outskirts of Ferrol in the province of A Coruña, north-western Spain. Endesa Termic was built in 1974 and is the second tallest chimney in Europe. The plant is currently undergoing a process of adaptation to the higher calorific value of hard coal due to the end of lignite extraction in the local mine. Another combined-cycle thermal power plant is currently being tested, which uses gas as fuel and produces 800 MW of power between its three turbines: two gas turbines and one steam turbine. The steam used by the latter is produced using the heat from the exhaust gases of the gas turbines.

Miño is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Betanzos. It has a population of 5,760 (Spanish 2011 Census) and an area of 33 km².

Club Deportivo As Pontes is a football team based in As Pontes in the autonomous community of Galicia. Founded in 1960, it plays in the Tercera División – Group 1. Its stadium is O Poboado with a capacity of 2,000 seats. The home kit is blue with white pants and the away kit is red with black Kappa pants.
