Taipei Main Station (Chinese: 台北車站; pinyin: Táiběi chēzhàn) is a railway and metro station in Taipei, Taiwan. It is served by Taiwan High Speed Rail, the Taiwan Railways Administration, and the Taipei Metro. It is also connected through underground passageways to the terminal station of Taoyuan Airport MRT and the Taipei Bus Station. In 2017, it was the busiest station on all three rail systems, with a total of 190 million entries and exits.

The Taipei West District Gateway Project (Chinese: 西區門戶計畫) is a comprehensive urban renewal initiative launched by the Taipei City Government in 2014. Centred around Taipei Main Station, the project aims to revitalise the city's western core by integrating transportation infrastructure, restoring historical landmarks, and promoting economic development. This initiative seeks to balance the city's development, which had previously been concentrated in the eastern districts, e.g Da'an and Xinyi.

Shipai, Shihpai or Tsio̍h-pâi (Chinese: 石牌; Hanyu Pinyin: Shípái; Tongyong Pinyin: Shíhpái; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chio̍h-pâi) is a region in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan. It includes eight villages (里): Shipai (石牌), Wenlin (文林), Ronghua (榮華), Zhenhua (振華), Yumin (裕民), Fuxing (福興), Rongguang (榮光), and Jianmin (建民).

On 19 December 2025, 27-year-old Chang Wen (Chinese: 張文) threw smoke grenades and stabbed people at two locations in Taipei, Taiwan, killing three people and injuring eleven others. Chang Wen fled from police and died when he fell from the Eslite Bookstore Nanxi building near Zhongshan Station.

The Control Yuan is the supervisory and auditory branch of the government of the Republic of China, both during its time in mainland China and Taiwan. Designed as a hybrid of auditor and ombudsman by Taiwanese law, the Control Yuan holds the following powers: Impeachment: The Control Yuan has the power to impeach government officials. Successfully impeached cases then go to the Disciplinary Court of the Judicial Yuan for adjudication. Impeachment of the President and the Vice President of the Republic follows a different procedure and does not go through the Control Yuan. Censure: The Control Yuan also has the power to censure a government official. The censure is sent to the official's superior officer. Audit: The Executive Yuan (cabinet) presents the annual budget to the Control Yuan each year for audit. Corrective Measures: The Control Yuan, after investigating the work and facilities of the Executive Yuan and its subordinate organs, may propose corrective measures to the Executive Yuan or its subordinate organs for improvement after these measures are examined and approved by the relevant committees. According to the current Constitution, the Control Yuan shall consist of 29 members. One member shall be the President of the Control Yuan, and another shall be the Vice President. All members, including the President and Vice President of Control Yuan, shall be nominated by the President of the Republic and approved by Legislative Yuan (the parliament of Taiwan). Members serve with a term limit of six years. Prior to constitutional reforms in the 1990s, the Control Yuan, along with National Assembly (electoral college) and the Legislative Yuan (lower house) formed the national tricameral parliament. It functioned similarly to an upper house of a bicameral legislature, though it formed its own separate branch and was indirectly elected by provincial or municipal legislatures with 178 senators elected.

The Sunflower Student Movement is associated with a protest movement driven by a coalition of students and civic groups that came to a head between March 18 and April 10, 2014, in the Legislative Yuan and, later, also the Executive Yuan of Taiwan. The activists protested the passing of the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement (CSSTA) by the then ruling party Kuomintang (KMT) at the legislature without clause-by-clause review. The Sunflower protesters perceived the trade pact with the People's Republic of China (China; PRC) would hurt Taiwan's economy and leave it vulnerable to political pressure from Beijing, while advocates of the treaty argued that increased Chinese investment would provide a necessary boost to Taiwan's economy, that the still-unspecified details of the treaty's implementation could be worked out favorably for Taiwan, and that to "pull out" of the treaty by not ratifying it would damage Taiwan's international credibility. The protesters initially demanded the clause-by-clause review of the agreement be reinstated, later changing their demands toward the rejection of the trade pact, the passing of legislation allowing close monitoring of future agreements with China, and citizen conferences discussing constitutional amendment. While the Kuomintang was open to a line-by-line review at a second reading of the agreement, the party rejected the possibility that the pact be returned for a committee review. The KMT backed down later, saying that a joint review committee could be formed if the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) agreed to participate in the proceedings. This offer was rejected by the DPP, who asked for a review committee on all cross-strait pacts, citing "mainstream public opinion." In turn, the DPP proposal was turned down by the KMT.The movement marked the first time that the Legislative Yuan had been occupied by citizens.

The Asia Plaza Building (Chinese: 亞洲廣場大樓) is a 27-story, 101 m (331 ft) skyscraper office building located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building was designed by Taiwanese architect Chu-Yuan Lee. When the building was completed in 1990, it was the tallest in West Taipei, but was surpassed by Shin Kong Life Tower in 1993. The higher floors of the building house offices, hotels, a gym and a cram school, whilst the lower floors of the building house a department store.

The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. Until the constitutional amendments of 1991, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house) formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 legislators, which are directly elected by people of the Free Area through a parallel voting system for 4-year terms (previously, the Legislative Yuan had 759 members representing each province, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and other professions). Like parliaments or congresses of other countries, the Legislative Yuan is responsible for the passage of legislation, which is then sent to the President for signing. For these similarities, it is also common for people to refer to the Legislative Yuan as "the parliament" (國會; Guóhuì; Kok-hōe). Under the current amended Constitution and in accordance with the separation of powers, the Legislative Yuan, as the only parliamentary body, also holds the power to initiate several constitutional processes, including initiating constitutional amendments (then determined by a national referendum), recalls of the President (then determined by a recall vote), and impeachments of the President (then judged by the Constitutional Court).

The Caesar Park Taipei (Chinese: 板橋凱撒大飯店) is a five-star luxury hotel in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. Opened on July 15, 1973 as Hilton Taipei, the hotel has 478 rooms in 6 types and suites and an exercise room, a spa and a rooftop garden. Banquet facilities and a business center are available. The 1st and B1 floors house Caesars Mall Food Court. Foreign celebrities who have visited include American movie star Elizabeth Taylor, former U.S. President Bill Clinton (while governor), American singers Tom Jones and Tina Turner and others.

Shin Kong Life Tower (Chinese: 新光人壽保險摩天大樓; pinyin: Xīnguāng Rénshòu Bǎoxiǎn Mótiān Dàlóu), at 51 stories and a height of 245 meters (803.8 ft), is one of Taiwan's earliest skyscrapers. The rose-colored tower topped by a pyramid stands in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, and dates from 1993. Its first twelve floors and two underground floors house a Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store; the remaining floors provide office space and serve as headquarters for the Shin Kong Life insurance company. The building stands across Zhongxiao Road from Taipei Main Station near the Asiaworld Department Store.The Shin Kong Life Tower was Taiwan's tallest building when it opened in 1993. The twin towers of the nearby Far Eastern Plaza, built at the same time, approached it in height. In 1997 the Tuntex 85 Sky Tower in the city of Kaohsiung became Taiwan's tallest. New height records were then set by Taipei 101 in 2004.

Qsquare (traditional Chinese: 京站時尙廣場; simplified Chinese: 京站时尙广场; pinyin: Jīngzhàn Shíshàng Guǎngchǎng) is a shopping mall in Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan.

The Bureau of Mines (BOM; Chinese: 經濟部礦務局; pinyin: Jīngjì Bù Kuàng Wù Jú) is the government agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
