Hösel station

Breitscheid is a quarter of the city Ratingen in Germany.

Nürnberger Flugdienst Flight 108 was a scheduled regional flight which crashed near Essen, Germany, on 8 February 1988 with the loss of all 21 occupants. The flight was operated by Swearingen SA.227BC Metroliner III D-CABB for Nürnberger Flugdienst, from Hannover Airport to Düsseldorf Airport. It is the deadliest aviation accident involving the Swearingen Fairchild Metroliner.

The Rinderbach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, flowing into the Ruhr at Kettwig.

Kettwig is the southernmost borough of the city of Essen in western Germany and, until 1975, was a town in its own right. Kettwig is situated next to the Ruhr river, at a median height of 53 metres above sea level. It is the most recently incorporated borough of Essen and also the largest in area, at 15.3 km². It belongs to the city district Stadtbezirk IX Werden/Kettwig/Bredeney and has 17,760 inhabitants as of June 2006.

The Textilfabrik Cromford in Ratingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany was built in 1783 by Johann Gottfried Brügelmann. It was the first cotton spinning mill on the European mainland. Today it is an industrial museum specialising in textile history.

Ratingen Ost is a station situated in Ratingen in the Germany state of North Rhine Westphalia and is a station of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. It was opened in 1872 as the Ratingen station of the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company (German: Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, BME) along with the Ruhr Valley Railway. After the nationalisation of the BME, it received its current name in the 19th century. The station is located between the Ratingen districts of Ost (east) and Mitte (central) and is mainly used by commuters into Düsseldorf. From the former freight yard, the now dismantled railway sidings ran to the nearby firms of the Balcke-Dürr company and the Wilhelm Pulch foundry and steelworks. The former freight yard was replaced by a station parking area. Ratingen Ost station is served by line S6 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn at 20-minute intervals and has an island platform with its entrance at the northern end of the platform. There is direct access from the bus station, which is served by ten bus lines, as well as the parking area in Josef-Schappe-Straße. Until the conversion for the S-Bahn, the station had a home platform (next to the station building) and two island platforms.

Ratingen-Homberg is that part of the city of Ratingen, in Mettman district, North Rhine-Westphalia that, until the bringing of industrialisation to the city, was the independent village of Homberg - at that time being in the district Homberg-Meiersberg, with its scenic churches, one Protestant and one Catholic.

The Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung (German: Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung) is an institute located in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany specializing in chemical research on catalysis. It is one of the 86 institutes in the Max Planck Society (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft). It was founded in 1912 in Mülheim an der Ruhr as the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Coal Research (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institut für Kohlenforschung) to study the chemistry and uses of coal, and became an independent Max Planck Institute in 1949.
