At the 1908 Summer Olympics, four fencing events were contested. The 1908 Games were the first to lack a foil competition. Foil fencing, "not being in the opinion of the organisers a form of sport which is improved by competition," was held only as a display. The 1908 Olympics did introduce team sabre and épée competitions. As in the 1904 edition, the London Games held no events for masters; all fencing was done by amateurs.

The Dimco Buildings are a historic structure in White City, London, just north of Shepherd's Bush. Originally built in 1898 along with Wood Lane depot, they were constructed as a power station for the Central London Railway (precursor of the London Underground's Central line). The architect was Harry Bell Measures. These buildings now constitute the earliest extant example of an electricity generating station built for the London Underground. The power station closed on 18 March 1928 when power for the line began to be supplied from Lots Road Power Station. The building was later used by the Dimco power tool company. Today the Dimco Buildings house White City bus station, located next to the Westfield London shopping centre, one of the largest in Europe. The Dimco Buildings are Grade II listed. The Dimco buildings were used as a filming location for the Acme Factory in the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and later served as the interior of the British Museum in The Mummy Returns.

White City bus station serves the White City area of west London and Westfield London shopping centre. The bus station was opened on 29 November 2008 to serve the new Westfield London shopping centre. The station has been built around the Grade II listed Dimco Buildings, originally the power station for the Central London Railway, which date from 1898.The bus station is 100 metres away from Wood Lane tube station on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. The Shepherd's Bush Conservation Area is a part of Shepherd's Bush, London, that has been established by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in order to promote the protection of local buildings of historic interest, and improve the character of the neighbourhood.Generally, in the United Kingdom, the term Conservation Area nearly always applies to an area (usually urban or the core of a village) considered worthy of preservation or enhancement because of its special architectural or historic interest, "the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance", as required by the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 (Section 69 and 70). More than 8000 have been designated. The Shepherd's Bush Conservation Area is one of a number of areas in Hammersmith and Fulham which have been designated for conservation. Broadly speaking it encompasses Shepherd's Bush Green and its immediate environs, including many streets north of the Green (south of the Westfield Centre).

Wood Lane is a former station on the London Underground located in Shepherd's Bush, west London. It was latterly served by the Central line and from 1908 to 1920 was the western terminus of the Central line's precursor, the Central London Railway (CLR). Wood Lane station was built to serve the 1908 Franco-British Exhibition and the 1908 Olympic Games. Its location was very confined and its configuration awkward, requiring alterations on a number of occasions to meet operational requirements. It closed in 1947 following the opening of the nearby White City station. In 2008, a new Wood Lane station was opened nearby on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines.

Shepherd's Bush Village Hall is a Victorian building located on Wood Lane in Shepherd's Bush, London, built in 1898. It was originally constructed as a drill hall for the 1st City of London Volunteer Artillery, but now serves the community as a village hall. It was owned by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham until March 2012 when it was sold to Wigoder Family Foundation. Among the charities which continue to use its premises is the West London School of Dance which currently occupies the ground floor hall of the building.

Shepherds Bush Green (also known as Shepherds Bush Common) is an approximately 8-acre (3.2 ha) triangular area of open grass surrounded by trees and roads with shops in Shepherd's Bush, an area of west London which takes its name from the Green. The Green is also a ward of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 12,175.

Wood Lane is a London Underground station in the White City area of west London, United Kingdom. It is on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines, between Latimer Road and Shepherd's Bush Market stations, in Travelcard Zone 2. Although it is on a line which has been in operation since 1864, the station is new, having opened on 12 October 2008 – the first station to be built on an existing Tube line for over 70 years. It is near the site of a station of the same name that closed on 24 October 1959.

Shepherd's Bush is a London Underground station in the district of Shepherd's Bush in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The station is on the Central line, between White City and Holland Park stations, and it lies in Travelcard Zone 2. The station originally opened in 1900, but was closed for eight months in 2008 while the surface station building was replaced with a completely new structure and the underground station refurbished. A number of stations in the area both past and present have borne the name Shepherd's Bush; today the Central line station shares its name with the adjacent London Overground Shepherd's Bush station, with which it shares a surface-level interchange. An entirely separate London Underground station, Shepherd's Bush Market on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines is located approximately 1⁄3-mile (500 m) away. Until 2008, it too was called Shepherd's Bush until it was renamed to avoid confusion.

Woodford Court is a large public housing project completed in 1974 in Shepherd's Bush, London. It is located on the south side of Shepherd's Bush Green and falls just outside the Shepherd's Bush Conservation Area.
