Soto station is an underground light rail station on the L Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located underneath 1st Street at its intersection with Soto Street in the heart of the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. This station opened in 2009 as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension and was one of two underground stations on the Eastside Extension (the other being Mariachi Plaza). This station and all the other Eastside Extension stations will be part of the E Line upon completion of the Regional Connector project in 2022.

CASA 0101 is a theater company and community arts space in Boyle Heights, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. It was founded by Josefina López in 2000 to bring art and live theater programs to the community she grew up in.

Breed Street Shul, also known as Congregation Talmud Torah of Los Angeles or Breed Street Synagogue, is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in the Boyle Heights section of Los Angeles, California. It was the largest Orthodox synagogue west of Chicago from 1915 to 1951, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

St. Mary's Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was founded on November 20, 1896. The church building was dedicated on November 14, 1897, by Bishop Gregory Montgomery.St. Mary's Church is the fifth oldest parish in Los Angeles, and was the first parish church founded to serve the neighborhood of Boyle Heights. St. Mary's boundaries once included Sacred Heart parish to the north and Our Lady Queen of the Angels Church, as well as the former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana to the west. St. Mary’s extended eastward to the Puente Hills and southward to the limits of the Wilmington parish.It has been administered since the 1960s by the Salesians of Don Bosco. In the mid-1990s, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (also known as the Salesian Sisters) began administering St. Mary's Catholic School, the third parochial school established in the Diocese of Los Angeles in 1907.

Theodore Roosevelt High School is an educational institution (grades 9–12) located in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles, California named for the 26th president of the United States. Roosevelt is a public school in the Los Angeles Unified School District with an enrollment 1,400 as of 2017. The enrollment peaked at 5,047 in 2007, making it one of the largest in the country, and second largest behind Belmont High School at the time. From the mid-1990s until the 2008–09 school year, the school followed a year-round calendar. In 2008, the school started to be managed by the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, which was established by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. In 2010, the single institution was split up into seven small schools, each with its own principal, CEEB code (used by SAT, colleges, etc.), students and staff. The outcomes of this were debated by students and administrators. Since 2013, Roosevelt has been merged into a single comprehensive high school. The Roosevelt campus also hosts the Math, Science and Technology Magnet Academy at Roosevelt High School and the STEM Academy of Boyle Heights, an LAUSD Pilot School that was formed in 2014. Its school colors are red and gold, the mascot is Teddy the Bear, and their sport teams are known as the Rough Riders. The school's motto is "Don't flinch, don't foul, hit the line hard!", which is a Theodore Roosevelt quote.Most students come from Boyle Heights, with some traveling from South Central, East Los Angeles, and City Terrace. Roosevelt participates in the annual "East L.A. Classic" against Garfield High School. It is the homecoming game for both schools and attracts over 20,000 people every year. The school's $173 million comprehensive modernization project began in 2018.

Hollenbeck Park is a city park in the Boyle Heights district of Los Angeles, California. It is located on the corner of Saint Louis and Fourth Streets, near Boyle Avenue. The park features grassy knolls, picnic areas, playgrounds, a skateboard park, and a man-made lake.

Linda Vista Community Hospital is a former hospital located at 610-30 South St. Louis Street in Los Angeles, California, United States, in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. The hospital was originally constructed for employees of the Santa Fe Railroad and called the Santa Fe Coast Lines Hospital. It was one of four employee hospitals run by the railroad Santa Fe Employees Hospital Association. After its closure, the hospital became a popular filming location for productions, including films, TV shows, and music videos. It has also become the subject of several paranormal investigations. The hospital was sold in 2011 and converted into a low income senior living facility called Hollenbeck Terrace.

Mariachi Plaza is a plaza located in the Boyle Heights district of the city of Los Angeles, California. The plaza is known for its history as a center for mariachi music. Since the 1950s, mariachi musicians have gathered in hopes of being hired by visitors who are looking for a full band, trio or solo singer. The plaza resembles Mexico's famed Plaza Garibaldi in both form and function and is also a historic gateway to the neighborhood.

The Statue of Lucha Reyes is a bronze sculpture in Los Angeles, California, located at Mariachi Plaza, honoring Lucha Reyes, known as the "Queen of Ranchera".

Until 1963, the Los Angeles Railway's P Line yellow streetcars operated on the surface of 1st Street, including a stop near this station.

The historic 1889 Boyle Hotel is across the street from the Mariachi Plaza at the corner of Boyle Avenue, First Street and Pleasant Avenue in the East Los Angeles community of Boyle Heights. The building was formerly a hotel and commercial shops line the first floor of this Queen Anne Style building. In 2007 the building was declared a Los Angeles Cultural Monument.The building was rehabilitated by East LA Community Corporation as affordable housing. Ernesto Espinoza is the Director of Real Estate Development for East LA Community Corporation who helped line up the $25 million in public and private subsidies to develop 51 units of affordable housing at the Boyle Hotel – Cummings Block and adjacent parcels. ELACC added a new 20-unit apartment building adjacent to the Boyle Hotel on the Cummings Block.

Libros Schmibros is a lending library located in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, a predominantly Latinx neighborhood. The diversity among the residents means there is great "language diversity within Boyle Heights" as there are many bilingual individuals. Local libraries in the Boyle Heights area started closing on Mondays, and not one of the public libraries offered "bilingual story hours for children". The literary desert forming in Boyle Heights and the lack of access to bilingual media were the founders' of Libros Schmibros, David Kipen and Colleen Jaurretche, primary motivations in creating the lending library.
