St. Mary's Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was founded on November 20, 1896. The church building was dedicated on November 14, 1897, by Bishop Gregory Montgomery.St. Mary's Church is the fifth oldest parish in Los Angeles, and was the first parish church founded to serve the neighborhood of Boyle Heights. St. Mary's boundaries once included Sacred Heart parish to the north and Our Lady Queen of the Angels Church, as well as the former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana to the west. St. Mary’s extended eastward to the Puente Hills and southward to the limits of the Wilmington parish.It has been administered since the 1960s by the Salesians of Don Bosco. In the mid-1990s, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (also known as the Salesian Sisters) began administering St. Mary's Catholic School, the third parochial school established in the Diocese of Los Angeles in 1907.

Soto station is an underground light rail station on the L Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located underneath 1st Street at its intersection with Soto Street in the heart of the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. This station opened in 2009 as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension and was one of two underground stations on the Eastside Extension (the other being Mariachi Plaza). This station and all the other Eastside Extension stations will be part of the E Line upon completion of the Regional Connector project in 2022.

Linda Vista Community Hospital is a former hospital located at 610-30 South St. Louis Street in Los Angeles, California, United States, in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. The hospital was originally constructed for employees of the Santa Fe Railroad and called the Santa Fe Coast Lines Hospital. It was one of four employee hospitals run by the railroad Santa Fe Employees Hospital Association. The East Los Angeles Interchange is an interchange complex located in Boyle Heights, California, approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) east of Downtown Los Angeles. With its southern portion handling over 550,000 vehicles per day (2008 AADT), it is the busiest freeway interchange in the world. The northern portion, called the San Bernardino Split, is often considered a separate interchange. Four numbered routes converge at the interchange: Interstate 5 (I-5), I-10, U.S. Route 101 (US 101), and State Route 60 (SR 60), but the freeway segments shift alignments and directions. The interchange was named the Eugene A. Obregon Memorial Interchange, to honor U.S. Marine Corps member and Medal of Honor recipient, Eugene A. Obregon.

Mariachi Plaza is a plaza located in the Boyle Heights district of the city of Los Angeles, California. The plaza is known for its history as a center for mariachi music. Since the 1950s, mariachi musicians have gathered in hopes of being hired by visitors who are looking for a full band, trio or solo singer. The plaza resembles Mexico's famed Plaza Garibaldi in both form and function and is also a historic gateway to the neighborhood.

Until 1963, the Los Angeles Railway's P Line yellow streetcars operated on the surface of 1st Street, including a stop near this station.

The historic 1889 Boyle Hotel is across the street from the Mariachi Plaza at the corner of Boyle Avenue, First Street and Pleasant Avenue in the East Los Angeles community of Boyle Heights. The building was formerly a hotel and commercial shops line the first floor of this Queen Anne Style building. In 2007 the building was declared a Los Angeles Cultural Monument.The building was rehabilitated by East LA Community Corporation as affordable housing. Ernesto Espinoza is the Director of Real Estate Development for East LA Community Corporation who helped line up the $25 million in public and private subsidies to develop 51 units of affordable housing at the Boyle Hotel – Cummings Block and adjacent parcels. ELACC added a new 20-unit apartment building adjacent to the Boyle Hotel on the Cummings Block.
