The Ottauquechee River (pronounced AWT-ah-KWEE-chee) is a 41.4-mile-long (66.6 km) river in eastern Vermont in the United States. It is a tributary of the Connecticut River, which flows to Long Island Sound. The Ottauquechee rises in the Green Mountains in eastern Rutland County in the town of Killington, and flows generally eastwardly into Windsor County, where it passes through or along the boundaries of the towns of Bridgewater, Woodstock, Pomfret, Hartford and Hartland; and the villages of Woodstock and Quechee. It joins the Connecticut River in the town of Hartland, about 4 miles (6 km) south-southwest of White River Junction.A headwaters tributary known as the North Branch Ottauquechee River flows southeastwardly through the towns of Killington and Bridgewater.Quechee State Park is located along the river near the village of Quechee. Near the river's mouth the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' North Hartland Dam impounds the river to form North Hartland Lake.Near the state park, the river flows through the 165-foot-deep (50 m) Quechee Gorge. The U.S. Rt. 4 bridge crosses over the gorge and provides good viewing down into its depths.[1] In late August 2011, Hurricane Irene swept through the Ottauquechee River watershed, raising the water level in the river to far beyond its normal height. Houses and towns along the river were devastated.

Killington Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Killington, Rutland County, Vermont, United States, comprising residential development associated with Killington Ski Resort. As of the 2020 census, Killington Village had a population of 861, out of 1,407 people in the entire town. The CDP is in eastern Rutland County, within the Green Mountains, along both sides of Killington Road, which runs south 4 miles (6 km) from U.S. Route 4 to the Killington ski area. Route 4 runs through the northern part of the CDP from Sherburne Pass in the west to the valley of the Ottauquechee River in the east, then turns south at Sherburne Center and forms the eastern border of the CDP. North of Route 4, the CDP extends to Kent Pond and includes part of Gifford Woods State Park. The Appalachian Trail crosses the northern part of the CDP.

Killington is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,407 at the 2020 census. Killington Ski Resort and numerous vacation lodges are located here. The town was previously named Sherburne, but was renamed to its original name, "Killington", in 1999.

The Church of Our Saviour, also known as the Church of Our Saviour at Mission Farm, the Mission of the Church of Our Saviour, and the Josiah Wood Jr. Farm, is a historic Episcopal church and farm complex located at 316 Mission Farm Road, in Killington, Vermont. The church is a Gothic Revival stone building, built in 1894-95 of Vermont granite. In addition to the church, the 170-acre (69 ha) Mission Farm property includes a c. 1817 farmhouse, a guest and retreat house, a vicarage, a bakery and agricultural buildings. On October 29, 1992, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Church of Our Saviour is part of the Three Rivers Regional Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, and the Rev. Lee Allison Crawford is the vicar.

Killington Mountain Resort & Ski Area is a ski resort in Rutland County, Vermont, United States, near the town of Killington. It is the largest ski area in the eastern U.S., and has the largest vertical drop in New England at 3,050 feet (930 meters). The mountain has been nicknamed the "Beast of the East."

Superstar is a World Cup ski piste in the northeast United States at Killington, Vermont. Located on Skye Peak mountain of the Killington Ski Resort, the course is open to the public as a black diamond trail. It has hosted eleven women's World Cup events (45th of all-time), the sixth most in the U.S. The race course debuted in November 2016, succeeding Aspen, Colorado, as the early season U.S. host for women's technical events (slalom and giant slalom).

Gifford Woods State Park is a state park located at the base of Pico Peak in Killington, Vermont. The wooded park provides camping, picnic, and fishing facilities, and has hiking trails, including a portion of the Appalachian Trail. It preserves an area of old-growth forest that has been designated a National Natural Landmark, and is accessible via an interpretive trail. The park was established in 1931. Part of it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, for facilities developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

The Rutland-Windsor-1 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Rutland-Windsor-1 District includes all of the Rutland County towns of Chittenden, Killington, and Mendon, and the Windsor County town of Bridgewater. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Rutland-Windsor-1 District had a population of 4,285 in that same census, 5.57% above the state average.

Killington Peak is the second highest summit in the Green Mountains and in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is located east of Rutland in south-central Vermont. Killington Peak is a stop on the Long Trail, which here shares its route with the Appalachian Trail. Traveling southbound on the Trail, it is the last 4,000-foot (1,200 m) peak close to the trail until Virginia. A ski resort, Killington Ski Resort, nicknamed "the beast of the east", is located on the mountain. A gondola transports skiers and non-hikers to the summit in winter, summer, and during fall leaf peeping season. There is a lodge near the peak which is complete with a restaurant and bar with panoramic views. In 1763, the mountain was known as Pisgah. Killington (a.k.a. Sherburne) lodging situations have changed over the years, from sleeping on barroom floors and barns on the mountain road, traveling up from nearby Rutland or Woodstock, to the present day, in which the vicinity has over 120 inns, lodges, and condominium complexes. Their sleeping capacity brings this Central Vermont region's tourist population to 60,000+ on prime winter weekends.
