Walnut Run (Broad Run)

Broad Run is a 4.3-mile-long (6.9 km) tributary of White Clay Creek located principally in New Garden Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, in the United States.The headwaters of Broad Run are in Kaolin, just south of Pennsylvania Route 41. Flowing southward, the stream enters a wide, deep valley. Between two hills east of Landenberg, Broad Run has been dammed to form Somerset Lake, the center of a development. Just south of the dam is the site of the Wilmington and Western Railroad's Broad Run Trestle, removed when the line to Landenberg was abandoned around 1940. Below, the valley narrows between hills again, and Broad Run enters London Britain Township and the White Clay Creek Preserve just before receiving Walnut Run. It empties into the White Clay about an eighth of a mile below. Broad Run is included in the designation of the White Clay Creek as a Wild and Scenic River.

Merestone, also known as the John S. Reese, IV, House, is a historic estate located in New Garden Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and New Castle County, Delaware, spanning the border of the two states. The estate consists of the Merestone House, guest house / garage, milk house, and stone shed. It was renovated and added to by architect R. Brognard Okie in the Colonial Revival style. The original log section of Merestone House dates to between about 1720 and 1734. It is a two-story, three bay, structure measuring 20 feet by 24 feet. A two-story, two bay, frame addition was built between 1725 and 1750 and measures 19 feet by 18 feet. A two-story, one bay, wing was added between about 1802 and 1806. The house was renovated in the Colonial Revival style in 1941–1942. At the same time, Okie built the 1+1⁄2-story, three bay, frame guest house / garage on the stone foundations of a barn dated to 1806.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Landenberg is an unincorporated community in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is, essentially, a post office address that covers parts of New Garden, London Britain and Franklin Townships. The White Clay Creek (and preserve) bisects Landenberg. Landenberg falls into two school districts: Avon Grove and Kennett Consolidated. There are several historical areas in Landenberg, including the Landenberg community (store, church, apartments, hotel) and the Ticking Tomb along with the bridge in New Garden Township. Formerly part of the range of the Lenape tribe of Native Americans, the White Clay Creek runs through Landenberg, eventually entering the nearby White Clay Creek Preserve. Landenberg is home to many businesspersons who commute to work in the nearby city of Wilmington, Delaware. Landenberg once had a railroad station that was shared between the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Delaware Western Railroad, a system acquired by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Landenberg's proximity to the White Clay Creek Preserve makes this area a favorite for local fisherman, hikers, bikers and outdoorsmen. White Clay Creek Preserve backs up to the White Clay Creek State Park in Delaware. Landenberg was named for Martin Landenberger, who operated a mill there.

The Landenberg Bridge is a truss bridge carrying Landenberg Road across the White Clay Creek in Landenberg, Pennsylvania. The bridge was originally built by the Schuylkill Bridge Company of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania in 1899, using the stone abutments from an earlier (1871) bridge. The 1899 bridge was a Pratt pony truss design, with an unusual cantilevered sidewalk along the north side of the bridge.Because of its architectural features, the Landenberg Bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. However, a PennDOT inspection in the summer of 1999 found that the bridge had undergone serious structural deterioration, and it was immediately closed to traffic. Due to local opposition to widening the bridge, replacement did not begin until 2009, after a compromise was reached to reuse elements of the old bridge in the replacement span and to construct the new span no wider than the roadway. Doing this meant that New Garden Township had to agree to assume control of maintaining the bridge from PennDOT, due to the bridge being narrower than what state design specifications required. The bridge was removed from the National Register of Historic Places on March 23, 2010 as the truss system changed from being functional on the original span to ornamental on the new span, which is a simple concrete beam bridge. The new span opened to traffic on July 25, 2010.

Mill Creek Friends Meetinghouse is a historic Quaker meeting house located near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built as a one-story meeting house for 33 Friends from Mill Creek Hundred who, in 1838, had obtained permission to hold their worship services separately from the New Garden Monthly Meeting. It was built as a stone, one-story meeting house in 1840 and 1841.Through 1915 a meeting for worship was held each week. From 1915 to about 1930 meetings were held once a month. Only a single meeting was held each year from 1930 to 1954. After 1954 the meeting become more active and it now holds a weekly meeting for worship.The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. A wrought iron fence encircles a cemetery to the east. (A.K.A Mormon conjugals.)

London Britain Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,139 at the 2010 census. White Clay Creek Preserve is a Pennsylvania state park in London Britain Township along White Clay Creek.

Egypt Run is a small tributary of the White Clay Creek in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The stream flows through rural and semi-suburban areas of southern Chester County, draining portions of New Garden Township and London Britain Township before joining White Clay Creek. The headwaters of Egypt Run are located near the Pennsylvania–Delaware border. The stream flows generally northward through agricultural land, wooded areas, and low-density residential development before reaching its confluence with White Clay Creek in London Britain Township. Egypt Run is part of the greater White Clay Creek watershed, which has been designated as a component of the National Wild and Scenic River system due to its ecological, scenic, and historical significance. While Egypt Run itself is not individually designated, it contributes to the hydrology and water quality of the protected watershed.

William Morgan Farm is a historic farm located near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. The property includes two contributing buildings. They are a stone bank barn (1809) and a stone dwelling (1813). The barn is constructed of uncoursed, rubble fieldstone and is cornered with large fieldstone quoins. The house is a two-story, three bay, gable-roofed fieldstone building with an original two-story, gable-roofed rear ell.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Corner Ketch is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Corner Ketch is located at the intersection of Corner Ketch Road and Doe Run Road, north of Newark.The origin of the name "Corner Ketch" is obscure. According to tradition, travelers were cautioned to be careful at the dangerous crossroad: "Watch out! They'll catch ye at the corners".

Robert Graham House is a historic home located near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. The house consists of sections built during three main periods. The log, central core dates to about 1790, and was first constructed as a one-story building with a loft and later raised to a full two stories. The two-story, stone western section was added about 1819. The final building period occurred in the mid-1930s with two frame additions, a two-story, frame, rear wing behind the stone section, and a one-story, frame wing east of the log section, with a three-car garage at the basement level. Because the house is banked into the hill, a full three levels of the stone end, including the basement, are exposed. The stone section features a shed-roofed, front porch on a high stone foundation. Also on the property are a contributing stone terrace (c. 1947) and a stone wall from the mid-1930s.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

White Clay Creek State Park is a Delaware state park along White Clay Creek on 3,647 acres (1,476 ha) in New Castle County, near Newark, Delaware in the United States. North of the park is Pennsylvania's White Clay Creek Preserve, and the two were originally operated as bi-state parks to jointly protect the creek, but now they operate separately. The White Clay Creek is federally protected as part of the National Park Service's National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. White Clay Creek State Park offers 37 miles (60 km) of nature and fitness trails which are open to hiking and mountain biking 365 days a year with access at a number of seasonal day-use fee parking lots. Fee season is in effect March 1 - November 30. Fees are $4 for in-state vehicle or $8 for out of state vehicles. Annual passes can be purchased at any DE State Park Office or online. The park also preserves a number of historic structures and operates a nature center. It is part of the Northeastern coastal forests ecoregion.

David Eastburn Farm is a historic farm located near Newark, New Castle County, Delaware. The property includes eight contributing buildings: a frame bank barn (c. 1825), a stone dwelling (c. 1850), a stone tenant house possibly dating to the 18th century, and five outbuildings. The dwelling is a three-story, double pile, stuccoed stone building with a pyramidal roof crowned by a flat-roofed belvedere. It has a two-story, hip-roofed rear wing.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
