The current headteacher is Mr Stephen Mansell. The Boswells School specialises in Performing Arts (Arts mark Gold). In March 2008, The Independent newspaper ranked the Boswells College 25th in the country for A Level performance by a comprehensive school.

The Palace of Beaulieu ( (listen) BEW-lee) is a former royal palace in Boreham, Essex, England, north-east of Chelmsford. The surviving part is a Grade I listed building. The property is currently occupied by New Hall School.

New Hall School is a Catholic co-educational private boarding and day school in the village of Boreham near Chelmsford, Essex, England. It was founded in 1642 in the Low Countries, now Belgium, by sisters of the Catholic order Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre and moved to its current location, the former Tudor Palace of Beaulieu in Essex, in 1799. It is the only Catholic Independent school in the Brentwood diocese, and one of the oldest and largest in the country.The school operates the "diamond" model format. Up until the end of Year 6 and in the Sixth Form, the children are taught in co-educational classes. In years 7 to 11, students are taught in single sex classes. The school is a member of Catholic Independent Schools Conference and ISA, and the school principal is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference.

Springfield has been a civil parish of the Borough of Chelmsford in Essex, England, since 1907. The parish takes in the portion of the town north of river Chelmer and west of the A12 bypass and originally comprised the manors of Springfield Hall, Springfield Barnes (now Chelmer Village), Cuton Hall, and in part New Hall (now Beaulieu Park).

Newland Grove is a 3.2-hectare (7.9-acre) nature reserve north of Chelmsford in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.The site is rough grassland on the bank of the River Chelmer, with areas of woodland and thorn thicket. Over 230 plant species have been recorded, including St John's wort, hairy violet and musk mallow. Birds include several species of warbler, and 23 of butterflies.There is access from the west side of a roundabout at the junction of Essex Regiment Way and Channels Drive.

Beaulieu Park railway station is a planned station on the Great Eastern Main Line in the East of England that will serve a new development in Boreham, approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) to the north-east of Chelmsford, Essex. It will be situated between Chelmsford to the west and Hatfield Peverel to the east. It was originally expected to open in 2019, though due to numerous issues, mainly relating to funding, this date has been pushed back number of times to 2026.The station is proposed with three platforms, to be served by medium- and long-distance trains on the route from London Liverpool Street to Norwich, with interchange with local buses.The development will include thousands of new residential dwellings, three schools, a business park, surgery, hotel, and parkland, as well as the station which will also serve the neighbourhoods of Boreham and Springfield to help relieve congestion at Chelmsford's main station.In August 2019 the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid, agreed £218 million from the Housing Infrastructure Fund for the new station and associated road improvements, with the aim of unlocking up to 14,000 new homes.

Chelmsford Rural District was a local government district in Essex, England from 1894 to 1974. It surrounded, but did not include, the town of Chelmsford; which formed a municipal borough. It was formed as a rural district in 1894, based on the Chelmsford rural sanitary district. It included the parishes of: Boreham Broomfield Buttsbury Chignal St James Danbury East Hanningfield Good Easter Great Baddow Great Leighs Great Waltham Highwood Ingatestone and Fryerning Little Baddow Little Leighs Little Waltham Margaretting Mashbury Pleshey Rettendon Roxwell Runwell Sandon South Hanningfield Springfield Stock West Hanningfield Widford Woodham Ferrers WrittleDuring 1934 there were some changes to the district boundary. The municipal borough of Chelmsford expanded and gained 1,659 acres (7 km2) from the rural district, including parts of the parishes of Broomfield, Springfield, Widford, and Writtle. At the same time 1,282 acres (5 km2) were transferred from Buttsbury parish to form part of Billericay Urban District. Later that year, an area of 6,128 acres (25 km2), made up of Mountnessing and parts of the parishes of Downham, Ramsden Bellhouse, Ramsden Crays and Shenfield, was gained from the abolished Billericay Rural District. Also at this time 274 acres (1 km2) was gained from the parish of Hockley in Rochford Rural District. The district was abolished in 1974 and its former area was merged with the municipal borough of Chelmsford to form the current non-metropolitan district of Chelmsford, which inherited the borough charter. The parishes of Ingatestone and Fryerning and Mountnessing became part of the district of Brentwood. The former council offices in New London Road are now used as a Jobcentre Plus.

Chelmer Village is a housing, retail and industrial development in the east of Chelmsford, Essex. The development was started by Countryside Residential PLC in 1978, using a holistic approach to create a self-contained community on previously greenfield land, of the manors of Springfield Barnes and Cuton Hall. It comprises a variety of modern suburban dwellings, the Chelmer Village Retail Park and Dukes Park Industrial Estate. Together with "Beaulieu Park" and parts of old Springfield the development forms the "Chelmer Village & Beaulieu Park" ward of the Springfield Parish and Chelmsford City Council.

Essex Police Museum is a museum in Chelmsford, Essex, covering the history of policing in the county of Essex since 1840, including the Essex Constabulary and such borough forces as those for Colchester and Southend-on-Sea. Established in 1992, it also covers crimes solved by those forces, such as the Rayleigh bath chair murder, and officers killed in the line of duty, such as PC George Gutteridge. Its collections include 16 oil paintings, all but two of which are 20th-century portraits of modern and historical officers by Detective Sergeant Jack Bridge.

Little Waltham Meadows is an 8.9-hectare (22-acre) nature reserve south of Little Waltham in Essex. It is owned and managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.The site is wet and dry meadows on the bank of the River Chelmer, which are grazed to restore them to their previous state. There are grassland plants such as saxifrage, bee orchids and yellow oat-grass. Tawny owls and sparrowhawks hunt in the meadows and ancient hedgerows.There is access from Back Lane.
