Khirbet Abu ad-Danin

Khirbet Bad 'Issa or Khirbet Bad-'Issa is an archaeological site located in the central West Bank, within Modi'in Illit. Archaeological evidence suggests that the site was founded in the 3rd century BCE, during the Hellenistic period, as a seasonal agricultural settlement. It developed through the Hasmonean period into a permanent village in the first century CE. The settlement was depopulated during the First Jewish–Roman War (66–70 CE) and again following the Bar Kokhba revolt (132–136 CE). It was resettled about a century later, in the 3rd century CE, but did not expand during the Byzantine period. In the early Islamic era, its spaces were reused by nomads and shepherds. Excavations revealed a planned district containing six structures, including an ancient synagogue with a finely dressed ashlar façade, columns and arches, a large decorated lintel, and traces of wall frescoes. Other features include an olive press and an adjacent mikveh (Jewish ritual bath). Finds include abundant 1st–2nd-century CE ceramics (one bearing a Hebrew inscription), numerous stone vessels, and 365 coins spanning several centuries, 195 of which were discovered in two hoards.

Matityahu (Hebrew: מַתִּתְיָהוּ) is an Israeli settlement organized as a community settlement in the West Bank. Located approximately midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, near the settlement of Modi'in Illit and the city of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut. It is named after Matityahu the Hasmonean, who lived in Modi'in (1 Maccabees 2:15-17). It falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2019 it had a population of 891. Matityahu was initially founded in 1981 by a group of English-speaking immigrants from the United States and elsewhere, and it is now home to a community of observant Jewish families. Matityahu vineyards sell grapes to Israeli winemakers. The community also has agricultural fields operated by independent contractors and rental properties in its commercial park. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Modi'in Illit (Hebrew: מוֹדִיעִין עִלִּית; Arabic: موديعين عيليت, lit. "Upper Modi'in") is a Haredi Israeli settlement and city in the West Bank, situated midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Modi'in Illit was granted city status by the Israeli government in 2008. It is located six kilometres (3.7 miles) northeast of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut and is often referred to as Kiryat Sefer (lit. "Book Town"), the name of its first neighborhood, established in 1994. It was built on the land of five Palestinian villages: Ni'lin, Kharbata, Saffa, Bil'in and Dir Qadis. Modi'in Illit encompasses the neighborhoods of Kiryat Sefer and Achuzat Brachfeld (Brachfeld Estates). In 2019 it had a total population of 76,374, making it the largest Jewish settlement in the area.The international community considers Israeli settlements illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Kfar HaOranim (Hebrew: כְּפָר הָאֳרָנִים. lit. Village of the Pines), also known as Menora (Hebrew: מְנוֹרָה) or Giv'at Ehud, is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank. Contiguous with Lapid and located near to the major city of Modi'in, it is organised as a community settlement and falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2019 it had a population of 2,657. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Lapid (Hebrew: לַפִּיד, lit. Torch) is an Israeli community settlement. Located in the Latrun Salient of the Green Line near Modi'in Illit, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. In 2019 it had a population of 2,394.

Maarava Machon Rubin is an Orthodox yeshiva high school located in the town of Matityahu, near Modi'in, midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in Israel. The yeshiva was founded and is headed by Rabbi Baruch Chait who is originally from the United States. The institution was dedicated by Moshe and Elaine Rubin in memory of his parents, Yosef Dov and Sheindel, and siblings, Akiva, Yehudah Aryeh, and Rivkah, who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Maarava Machon Rubin prides itself in conforming to the characteristics of a traditional Ultra Orthodox Judaism yeshiva (only religious students and an intensive Talmudic studies program) while providing secular studies classes allowing students to earn Bagrut (the Israeli Ministry of Education high school diploma).

Kfar Ruth (Hebrew: כְּפַר רוּת, lit. 'Ruth's Village') is an Israeli settlement organised as a moshav. It was established in 1977 in an area that had become a no-man's land between Israel and Jordanian-controlled West Bank at the end of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, before becoming part of the Israeli-occupied territories in the 1967 Six-Day War. It falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council and had a population of 284 in 2021.

Mir Brachfeld is an Haredi Jewish yeshiva in the Israeli settlement of Modi'in Illit . It was founded by Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Finkel as a branch of the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Rabbi Aryeh Finkel led the yeshiva until his death in 2016.

Hashmonaim (Hebrew: חַשְׁמוֹנָאִים, lit. Hasmoneans) is an Israeli settlement located in the western section of the West Bank, off Route 443. Hashmonaim is located two kilometers east of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut, midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and is part of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2019 it had a population of 2,771. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Shilta was a Palestinian Arab village in the Ramle Subdistrict of Mandatory Palestine. It was depopulated during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War on July 18, 1948, by the First Battalion of the Yiftach Brigade in the Operation Danny. It was located 15 km east of Ramla.

Shilat (Hebrew: שִׁילָּת) is an Israeli moshav located around a kilometre north of Modi'in in the Latrun Salient of the Green Line. It falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. In 2019 it had a population of 771.The Shilat Junction, at the intersection of Route 443 and Route 446, is the main northern entrance to Modi'in and the site of an industrial park which houses many commercial establishments as well as light industry.

Ganei Modi'in (Hebrew: גני מודיעין, lit. Modi'in Gardens) is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank. Located just over the Green Line to the north of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2019, it had a population of 2,603. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.
