The Royal Hobart Showgrounds are the site of the Royal Hobart Show and many other smaller events including a market on the grounds every Sunday. The Royal Hobart Showground is located 10 km north of Hobart, between the junction to Brooker Highway/Goodwood Road and the Main Road in Glenorchy.

Derwent Park is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Glenorchy in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) east of the town of Glenorchy. The 2016 census recorded a population of 657 for the state suburb of Derwent Park. It is a suburb of Hobart. It is predominantly a light commercial and industrial area.

Elwick Racecourse (currently also known by its sponsored name of Ladbrokes Park Elwick) is a Thoroughbred horse-racing venue located on Goodwood Road within Glenorchy, Tasmania, Australia. It is located in close proximity to the Brooker Highway, Hobart Showground, Derwent Entertainment Centre, Glenorchy Art and Sculpture Park and the River Derwent. The Racecourse has a picturesque outlook across the river, as well as being dominated by views of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. Elwick features at least 110 race meetings and 210 trial days a year, but is most well known for hosting the Hobart Cup.

Elwick Road is a major arterial road that runs through the northern suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania. The Road is the major link road between the Main Road and the Brooker Highway that connects to Glenorchy. The Road Passes through residential areas. The Tasmanian Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources proposes to re-align Elwick Road with Goodwood Road, reducing confusion and the number of traffic lights on the Brooker Highway.

Derwent Entertainment Centre, also known as the DEC and known commercially as MyState Bank Arena, is the largest indoor arena in Tasmania and the multi-purpose arena is the primary venue in Hobart for large indoor functions/events. It was constructed in 1989 and is situated in between the waterfront of the River Derwent, the Brooker Highway and Tattersalls Park. At maximum capacity, the DEC can accommodate 8,600 people. For sporting events, the venue can accommodate 5,500 people. On 2 July 2020, NBL Owner & Executive Chairman, Larry Kestelman, announced that the Tasmania government had been successful in its bid for a 10th NBL team. This new team will compete in the 2021/22 NBL season and will carry the Tasmania name. It will see Tasmania hosting their own NBL team for the first time in 25 years, with their home arena announced as the Derwent Entertainment Centre in Hobart. As part of the agreement between the NBL and the Tasmanian Government, the latter will provide $68.5 million -- $20 million of which will go to a new community four court multisport facility -- for upgrades of the Derwent Entertainment Centre, the side's new home arena. In 2019, it was also the main stadium in the NBL Blitz Preseason Tournament.

Derwent Barracks is an Australian Army barracks in the Hobart suburb of Glenorchy, near the Elwick Racecourse and Hobart Showgrounds. It is named after the nearby Derwent River. Cosgrove High School is a government co-educational comprehensive junior secondary school located in Glenorchy, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1951 and named in honour of Sir Robert Cosgrove, the school caters for approximately 200 students from Years 7 to 10. The school is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education.In 2019 student enrolments were 183. The school principal is Andrew Woodham.

The Glenorchy Art and Sculpture Park (GASP) is a sculpture park in Glenorchy, Tasmania, Australia. Commencing at Montrose Foreshore Community Park, GASP follows Elwick Bay's foreshore, terminating at Wilkinsons Point. GASP is in close proximity to the MyState Bank Arena, Elwick Racecourse and the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Berriedale.

The Glenorchy Ice Skating Rink is an ice sports and public skating centre built in 1980 and located in Glenorchy, Tasmania, Australia. It is the only ice rink in the state and serves as the home of Ice Hockey Tasmania and FSAT.

Dowsing Point is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Glenorchy in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) north-east of the town of Glenorchy. The 2016 census recorded a population of 85 for the state suburb of Dowsing Point.It is a locality of the greater area of Hobart. It is part of the City of Glenorchy and encompasses the area of land north-east of Goodwood protruding into the River Derwent. It includes the land feature Dowsings Point which marks the north of the entrance to Prince of Wales Bay. Dowsing Point is best known as the western land-end of the Bowen Bridge (Goodwood Road), an arterial road linking the Brooker Highway with the East Derwent Highway. While the City of Glenorchy classes it as a suburb, there are only a small number of residences within the area located between the Commonwealth land situating the Derwent Barracks, and the Elwick Racecourse. Dowsing Point is the site of the Tasmanian Technopark, a Qantas call centre, an army barracks and various park lands. In 2007, Mayor Adriana Taylor proposed to have Dowsing Point as the new site of the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Prince of Wales Bay is located on the western shore of the River Derwent in southern Tasmania, Australia. It is located between the suburbs of Dowsing Point, Goodwood and Lutana. The area is home to two public parks, Giblin Reserve and Prince of Wales Bay Reserve. It is also home to a softball/baseball ground and hockey courts. It was the site of the first military encampment in Hobart.Like its neighbouring suburb, Derwent Park, Prince of Wales Bay is home to light industry, and contains few houses. It is also the location of catamaran construction company Incat.

Goodwood Road is a 4-lane link road that connects the City of Glenorchy to the City of Clarence in the greater area of Hobart, Tasmania. Using the Bowen Bridge the road travels over the River Derwent in semi-highway road layout. The Road starts 10 km north of the Hobart CBD near the Hobart Showground on the Brooker Highway at Glenorchy, from there it travels east past the Elwick Racecourse, over the Bowen Bridge and connects to the East Derwent Highway at Otago. While the route the road takes is used far less than other major arterial roads in Hobart, commuters often depend on the road when major incidents occur on other major roads throughout Hobart. The Wilkinsons Point and Elwick Bay master plan indicates plans to upgrade the traffic lights at Loyd Road to a roundabout to improve the overall traffic flow of Loyd Road.The Tasmanian Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources proposes to re-align Goodwood Road with Elwick Road, reducing confusion and the number of traffic lights on the Brooker Highway.
