Mynydd Mawr Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Mynydd Mawr) was a community hospital at Upper Tumble, Llanelli, Wales. It was managed by the Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Tumble (Welsh: Tymbl), is a village situated south of Cross Hands near the towns of Carmarthen and Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Tumble, along with Cross Hands is part of the community of Llannon. The population, including Drefach was 4,302.

The A476 is a main road in Wales, linking Llanelli with the A483, the Swansea to Manchester Trunk road near the market town of Llandeilo. Settlements served by the road include: Llanelli Panteg Llannon Upper Tumble Cross Hands Gorslas Carmel Golden Grove Ffairfach (1⁄2 mile (0.80 km) south of Llandeilo)

Gweunydd Glan-y-glasnant is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Carmarthenshire, Wales, designated in 1993 for its botanical features.

Cwmmawr for Tumble railway station, Cwm Mawr railway station or Cwmmawr railway station was opened in 1913 to timetabled passenger services. It continued to serve the inhabitants of the Cwmmawr area and hinterland between 1913 and 1953; it was one of several basic stations opened on the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Ysgol y Gwendraeth was a secondary comprehensive school for pupils aged 11 to 18 in the Gwendraeth Valley, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Situated in the village of Drefach, it had 312 pupils in 2012. The School was effectively closed in 2013 when it was merged with Ysgol Maes Yr Yrfa and teaching at the Ysgol y Gwendraeth site in Drefach ceased. This merger eventually led to Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth. The school was originally a Grammar School known as Gwendraeth Grammar School, or Gwendraeth Valley Grammar School. The original school building was built in 1927.The school promoted the Welsh language, Welsh history, and Welsh culture. Some subjects were available to be taught in the Welsh language if requested; otherwise the lessons were taught in the English language only. There was also a Sixth Form College and the school additionally housed the Garreglwyd Autistic Unit and Annex. The majority of the pupils and staff could speak Welsh. Many staff members lived in or near the valley and were thus naturally immersed in all aspects of the life of the community. Ysgol Y Gwendraeth earned the 2001-2002 Schools Curriculum Award. The feeder primary schools were Category A schools, where Welsh is the language spoken and taught up to the age of seven and where Welsh culture is actively promoted with the assistance of Menter Cwm Gwendraeth, which promotes Welsh and Welsh culture and history.

Cross Hands is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales, approximately 12 miles (19 kilometres) from Carmarthen. Cross Hands is notable for its Public Hall, erected in 1920 and designed by an unknown Italian designer in the classic Art Deco Style. Fully restored, the Public Hall has a fully functioning stage and cinema screen and is protected as a Grade II* listed building. During the 1960’s and 1970’s the village was a useful halfway stop for motorists from South East Wales driving to/from Pembrokeshire with the local chip shop adjacent to the village crossroads being a very popular facility. The continuous built up area which includes the villages of Cross Hands, Gorslas, Cefneithin and Pen-y-groes had a population of 5,717 in 2011.Cross Hands is a growing residential and employment area and includes the established Cross Hands Food Park to the south west of the A48. A new business park, the Cross Hands Business Park, is being developed to the northeast of the A48 which the local authority hopes will create 1,000 jobs.Gweunydd Glan-y-glasnant, a Site of Special Scientific Interest notable for its species-rich neutral grassland, is 3⁄4 mile (1.2 kilometres) southwest of Cross Hands.

Swiss Valley Reservoir, also known as Upper Lliedi reservoir and Lower Lliedi reservoir, feeds water to the towns of Llanelli and Llannon. It gets the water from the River Lliedi. The Swiss Valley Cycle Route, which forms part of National Cycle Route 47, itself part of the Celtic Trail), passes Swiss Valley Reservoir on a traffic free path between Llanelli and Cross Hands.

Pontyberem railway station was opened in 1909 to timetabled passenger services however services for miners began in 1898. It continued to serve the inhabitants of the Pontyberem area and hinterland between 1909 and 1953; it was one of several basic stations opened on the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth is a bilingual secondary school for pupils aged between 11 and 18 years, situated in Cefneithin, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The school was opened following the amalgamation of Ysgol Maes yr Yrfa and Ysgol y Gwendraeth secondary schools in 2013. As of 2023, there are 1107 pupils on roll at the school.Welsh is the official language of the school on a daily basis and is the administrative and social medium of communication. The school is categorized linguistically by Welsh Government as a category 2A school. It means that at least 80% of subjects apart from English and Welsh are taught only through the medium of Welsh to all pupils. However, one or two subjects are taught to some pupils in English or in both languages. The school states that all subjects are taught through the medium of Welsh, excluding English and Science (which is taught through the pupils’ chosen language from Year 8 onwards).

The River Lliedi (Welsh: Afon Lliedi) has its source near Mynydd Sylen Llanelli and Llannon in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The river fills the Cwm-Lliedi Reservoirs and meets the sea at the Loughor Estuary (Welsh-Moryd Llwchwr) at the former Carmarthenshire Dock (Porth Sir Gaerfyrddin),Llanelli. The river's tidal course near Llanelli has been altered several times over the last 200 years to build docks to serve the large tinplate and coal mining industries of the town. Before the North Dock (Porth y Gogledd) was built it flowed through Pownd yr Hen Gastell at the bottom of Old Castle Road and out to the north-west of Llanelli Beach.

Mynyddcerrig is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Mynyddcerrig once had a primary school, Ysgol Mynyddcerrig, which closed in 2007, however, it still has a working men's club and a public park.
