Elmore Auxiliary Field is a former facility of the United States Army Air Forces located in Montgomery, Alabama. Constructed after 1941 as an auxiliary to the nearby Gunter Field, it was redeveloped into Wetumpka Municipal Airport after the war.

It is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility. During World War II the airport, known then as Elmore Auxiliary Field, served as an auxiliary field for Gunter Army Airfield training operations. In 2013 the airport was listed in the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.

Jackson Lake Island is a private island in Elmore County, Alabama, which contains the fictional town of Spectre, built as a film set for the 2003 film Big Fish. After production of the film ended, the set was initially abandoned, then partially renovated for use as a tourist attraction.

The Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. The 72-hole event made its debut seventeen years ago in September 2007 at the Capitol Hill location on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville, Alabama, a suburb northwest of Montgomery. Maria Hjorth won the inaugural event on the Senator Course by one stroke over Stacy Prammanasudh.Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa then won consecutive titles, in a playoff in 2008 and by four strokes in 2009. Katherine Hull won in 2010 by a single stroke and set the tournament scoring record at 269 (−19).The event saw the then youngest-ever winner of an LPGA event in 2011, with Lexi Thompson's five-stroke victory at age 16. (Amateur Lydia Ko lowered the record to age 15 in 2012 in Canada.) In 2012, Stacy Lewis won her third event of the season by two strokes over Thompson, who carded a 63 (−9) on Thursday, but had a 74 (+2) on Saturday.The Senator Course at RTJ Capitol Hill converted its greens from bent grass to Champion Bermuda grass in the summer of 2011. The title sponsor was Navistar International, a manufacturer of commercial trucks, engines, and school buses. Following the 2012 event, it elected not to continue as title sponsor, and the tournament was dropped from the schedule in 2013. The tournament reappeared in 2014 when the Yokohama Tire Corporation took over as the title sponsor.Formerly played later in the season, it was moved up in the schedule to May in 2016. The LPGA Tour event in Mobile, last played as the Airbus LPGA Classic in 2014, was held in May at an RTJ Golf Trail course.

Elmore is a town in Elmore County, Alabama, United States. Although initially incorporated in 1906, it lapsed and was not reincorporated again until 1997. At the 2010 census the population was 1,262, up from 199 in 2000. It is part of the Montgomery Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The station is locally owned and operated by Bluewater Broadcasting Company, LLC. The station's studios are located on Wall St. in Midtown Montgomery. The transmitter for WGMP is north of the city, while the translator's transmitter is in midtown near Greenwood Cemetery. WGMP participates in Montgomery rating survey by Arbitron (Market #150) and is monitored by Mediabase.

The Coosa River is a tributary of the Alabama River in the U.S. states of Alabama and Georgia. The river is about 280 miles (450 km) long. The Coosa River begins at the confluence of the Oostanaula and Etowah rivers in Rome, Georgia, and ends just northeast of the Alabama state capital, Montgomery, where it joins the Tallapoosa River to form the Alabama River just south of Wetumpka. Around 90% of the Coosa River's length is located in Alabama. Coosa County, Alabama, is located on the Coosa River. The Coosa is one of Alabama's most developed rivers. Most of the river has been impounded, with Alabama Power, a unit of the Southern Company, owning seven dams and powerhouses on the Coosa River. The dams produce hydroelectric power, but they are costly to some species endemic to the Coosa River.

The Edgewood Academy is a non-profit non-sectarian independent school located in Elmore, Alabama serving 323 students from preschool through twelfth grade. The school was founded in 1967 as a segregation academy.
