Larkhall, Bath

St Mark's is a coeducational Church of England secondary school and sixth form located in Bath, Somerset, England. The school attracts pupils from Bath, Larkhall and Fairfield Park.In September 2009, 150 pupils were enrolled at the school. By 2020, this number rose to 370 pupils.In 2010, Bath and North East Somerset Council called a meeting to discuss the future of educational provision for the children of Larkhall and the school put forward alternative proposals to its closure. In 2011 the school formed a soft federation with St Gregory's Catholic College in Odd Down, and an executive head teacher, Raymond Friel, was appointed to be in charge of both schools. The federation has built a new joint sixth form, The New Sixth at the St Gregory's Catholic College site.Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Bath and North East Somerset Council, in May 2020 St Mark's School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership.

The Rondo Theatre, in Bath, was established in 1989. The theatre is located in the former church hall of St. Saviours Church, Larkhall. The building was purchased in 1976 by Doreen and Wilf Williams, who subsequently founded The Rondo Trust for the Performing Arts. The building has been converted into a 105-seat theatre. The facility received extensive renovations and upgrades after the receipt of lottery grants in 1996 and 2003. The theatre has an active programme of outreach activities, including a youth theatre, a scriptwriters group, theatre workshops, and afternoon tea concerts.

St Saviour's Church is a Church of England parish church in Larkhall, Bath, Somerset England. The church was founded by Archdeacon Charles Moysey in 1824 following the Church Building Act 1824. St Saviour's is one of three Commissioners' churches in Bath and one of six hundred nationally.The church was constructed between 1829 and 1832 probably by architect John Pinch the younger based on a design by his father, John Pinch the elder. The church was later expanded in 1882 when a chancel was added by architect C.E. Davis.The church's crypt was opened in 1832. In October 1832, Rear-Admiral Volant Vashon Ballard was the first person to be interred in the crypt. More than 200 people were buried at the church before the burial grounds were closed in 1891. Subsequent burials took place in Locksbrook Cemetery until 1937.The church is currently led by The Reverend Michael Norman who has been rector since 1998.

Larkhall Athletic Football Club is a football club based in the Larkhall area of Bath, Somerset, England. Affiliated to the Somerset County FA, they are currently members of the Southern League Division One South and play at the Plain Ham ground.

Grosvenor Place in Bath, Somerset, England was built around 1790 by John Eveleigh. It lies alongside the A4 London Road and many of the houses are listed buildings. Grosvenor House is a terrace of 42 houses (numbered 1 to 41), with double curves to the large central house. Number 23, which was formerly the Grosvenor Hotel until the 1970s, has large Ionic half columns on the 1st and 2nd floors. It then became affordable The Guinness Partnership flats. In 2020 ownership returned to Bath and North East Somerset Council, who will convert it to supported accommodation for former rough sleepers.Grosvenor Lodge and Grosvenor Villa are two houses at the end of the south side which were built slightly later.

Cleveland Pools located in Hampton Row, Bath, Somerset, England is a semi-circular lido built to designs by John Pinch the Elder in 1815. It is believed to be the oldest public outdoor swimming pool in England. It is a Grade II* listed building. In the Georgian period Bath had grown in popularity as a spa town. The opening of Pulteney Bridge enabled the development of Bathwick and land to the east of the River Avon. The pools were built next to the river on the site of old marl pits. The developers went bankrupt ten years after opening the pools but they were sold had operated privately until they were taken over by the local corporation in the 1890s. They then operated as a public swimming baths until the 1970s. The pool closed in 1984 and was used for a short time as a trout farm before closure and falling into disrepair. In 2005 a trust was formed to raise funds for renovation and reopening of the pools. Public support and grants from bodies such as the National Lottery Heritage Fund helped restore the site, which reopened in September 2022. The original buildings which survive include a caretaker's cottage and changing rooms arranged as a Georgian Crescent. The larger P shaped pool is 41 metres (135 ft) long, while the smaller ladies' pool is 15 metres (49 ft) long.

Norland College is a British higher education provider based in Bath, Somerset. The college specialises in childcare, and is widely known for its prestigious training of nannies, nursery nurses and other childcare professionals, who are employed worldwide. Norland nannies are seen as a status symbol and are popular among celebrities and royals. Alumni are termed "Norlanders". Norland offers one degree programme: the BA (Hons) in Early Years Development and Learning, previously in association with the University of Gloucestershire. In March 2019, Norland was awarded Taught Degree Awarding Powers by the Privy Council, which allows it to offer the degree through their institution, as well as enabling it to mark all student assessments internally. It also offers the prestigious Norland Diploma.

The Lam Brook is a stream in the West Country of England, which rises in a number of springs on the southern end of the Cotswold Hills and runs in a generally southerly direction for approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) before joining the river Avon at Lambridge in Bath. The brook is mentioned in an Anglo-Saxon charter of indeterminate date. There is evidence of watermills in the Swainswick valley but no working examples survive. The waters are relatively clean and support a variety of wildlife including the rare white-clawed crayfish.

Walcot is a suburb of the city of Bath, England. It lies to the north-north-east of the city centre, and is an electoral ward of the city.The Paragon and, continuing out of the city, London Road are part of the A4 road. The other main thoroughfare is Walcot Street, which adjoins the city centre and is well known for its artisan shops.Walcot Street and London Road are believed to be a Roman road, leading north from the Roman town of Aquae Sulis and linking with the Fosse Way. Walcot originally grew as a residential area (a vicus) in the 1st to 3rd centuries, located between the walled town, the Fosse Way and the possible Roman fort sited across the river in the Bathwick area.The parish church of St Swithin, on The Paragon was built in 1779-90 by John Palmer. The 18th-century poet Christopher Anstey is buried at the church. Walcot was the birthplace of Richard Debaufre Guyon, who would become, in succession, an Austrian officer, a Hungarian rebel and an Ottoman Pasha.The electoral ward returns two councillors to Bath and North East Somerset Council. The wards surrounding Walcot ward are: Lansdown to the north-west, Lambridge to the north-east, Bathwick to the south-east, and Kingsmead to the south-west. The River Avon forms the boundary with Bathwick and is crossed here by the Cleveland Bridge. The Grosvenor area of the city falls within the ward.

Charlcombe is a civil parish and small village just north of Bath in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary authority, Somerset, England. The parish had a population of 422 in 2011, and includes the villages of Woolley and Langridge and the hamlet of Lansdown (not to be confused with the Bath suburb of the same name).

Bathwick is an electoral ward in the City of Bath, England, on the opposite bank of the River Avon to the historic city centre. Bathwick was part of the hundred of Bath Forum.The district became part of the Bath urban area with the 18th century development of the Pulteney estate and the building of Pulteney Bridge. Subsequently various Georgian streets were built including Sydney Place, Great Pulteney Street and Laura Place, with Bathwick Hill leading up to Claverton Down and the University of Bath. It is also home to the Holburne Museum of Art within Sydney Gardens, Bath Recreation Ground, and Bath Cricket Club Ground. Bathwick has two churches: St John the Baptist, Bathwick and St Mary the Virgin, Bathwick. The latter was built in the early 19th century by John Pinch the Elder, and was where the band Muse recorded the organ sections on their second studio album Origin of Symmetry.
