The Union Depot is a former train station, located at 637 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. Despite the union name, Grand Trunk Western trains stopped at a different station in Lansing 1.5 miles away.

Jackson Field is a baseball stadium in Lansing, Michigan, home field of the Lansing Lugnuts minor league baseball team. The Michigan State Spartans college baseball team also plays select home games at Jackson Field. The stadium is situated in downtown Lansing in the Stadium District on a relatively narrow strip of land between and below Larch and Cedar streets. It is primarily used for baseball, though it has also hosted an ice skating rink, an outdoor movie theater, a haunted house, and served as a concert venue for the annual Common Ground Music Festival. Due to the dimensions of the city block in which the stadium was constructed, the right and left field fences 'notch' sharply into distances of 305 feet (93 m) at each foul pole.

The Common Ground Music Festival is an annual week-long music festival that takes place in downtown Lansing, Michigan. The July festival, which began in the year 2000 and attracts 50,000-plus people each year, is located at the Louis Adado Riverfront Park along the Grand River. Co-created by Center Park Productions and Meridian Entertainment Group, it showcases national and regional artists in contemporary and classic rock, pop, alternative, folk, country, hip hop, and R&B music.A year-round staff of about 10 people plan and organize the festival each year and get help from nearly 200 volunteers during the week of the event. Stage hands and temporary workers are hired to build the temporary structures.The next Common Ground Music Festival was scheduled for July 9–10, 2021.

The Lansing JazzFest is a free music festival that takes place each year in the summer in Lansing, Michigan. It showcases nationally, regionally, and locally known jazz artists such as Marcus Belgrave, the Professors of Jazz at MSU (Rodney Whitaker, Randy Gelispie, Diego Rivera, Derrick Gardner, Sunny Wilkinson, and Rick Roe), Eric Reed, Michael Kaeshammer, Straight Ahead, Don Phillips, Lisa Smith and Mike Skory, Sunrise II, Jazz Doggs, Tyrone Johnson, the Claudia Schmidt Quartet, Dick Fizzell & the Dixieland Express, Tim Cunningham, Francis Kofi, Betty Joplin, Sheila Landis, Ritmo, Patti Richards, Los Gatos, and more. The festival welcomes nearly 15,000 attendees over the weekend.

The Old Town BluesFest is a free music festival that takes place each year in the early autumn in Lansing, Michigan. It showcases nationally, regionally, and locally known blues artists such as W. C. Clark, Graná Louise, Byther Smith, Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang, A.C. Reed, Jan James, and Lady Sunshine and the X Band, Calvin Cooke and Sacred Steel Ensemble, Mojo Phoenix, Those Delta Rhythm Kings, the Automatic Blues Band, Root Doctor, Doug Deming and the All Stars, J.R. Clark, and more. The festival welcomes nearly 20,000 attendees over the weekend of the festival.

Basement 414 or 'B414' was a venue for various forms of artistic expression located in Lansing, Michigan. The venue hosted a variety of art exhibitions of any medium including paintings, musical acts, video and performance art, and other crafts including things such as napkin art. Artists such as Andrew W.K., Dead Prez and the Peppermint Creek Theatre Company, among others, have performed there.Some well known 'Basement Bands' are Straight From the Fridge, Jason Spangler, Edible Intention, and Ouch! Me Arse. B414 is also where the band A Fatal Masquerade started playing before changing their name to This Day Means Nothing. It closed in May 2012.

Lansing Center, officially the Lansing Convention Center, is the primary and largest convention center in Lansing, Michigan. The center is located along Michigan Avenue, with its western facade fronting the Grand River. The center's location includes a riverfront plaza that has been home to outdoor events. It is also directly connected to the DoubleTree Lansing by an enclosed, climate-controlled skybridge spanning the Grand River. Since 1996, Lansing Center has been managed by the non-profit Lansing Entertainment & Public Facilities Authority (LEPFA). The center has a total square footage of 124,118 (11,531 m²), of which 71,760 ft² (6,667 m²) is column-free exhibit space. Designed by Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK), the center was opened in 1987, and renovated and expanded in 1995 with Hobbs + Black Associates as the renovation architects. The center currently holds 270,000 square feet (25,000 m2) of space, including a main exhibition hall, meeting rooms, conference centers, banquet facilities, a restaurants and lounge, a full kitchen, and a 500-space underground parking garage. The center underwent its first extensive renovation since the 1995 addition in 2007 and 2008. The renovation included cosmetic upgrades, as well as structural upgrades.

Sparrow Health System is a comprehensive, integrated health care organization located in Central Michigan. More than 900 physicians are affiliated with Sparrow Health System.Two for profit financing organizations, the Physicians Health Plan and the Sparrow Physicians Health Plan, are owned and operated by Sparrow Health System. Hospitals within the Sparrow Health System include Sparrow Hospital and Sparrow Specialty Hospital (Long Term Acute Care formerly located at the old St. Lawrence Hospital) in Lansing, Clinton Memorial Hospital, Carson City Hospital, Sparrow Eaton Hospital (formerly Hayes Green Beach Hospital) and Ionia County Memorial Hospital. The Michigan Athletic Club, located in Lansing, is also a subsidiary of Sparrow Health System. The Sparrow Health System Laboratory performs over 3 million tests per year, at various laboratory sites, which include four remote testing facilities and thirteen patient service centers. A portion of Sparrow employees are represented by the Michigan Nurses Association and the UAW Local 4911. In April 2023, Michigan Medicine and Sparrow launched an affiliation.

Sparrow Hospital is a 733-bed teaching hospital located in Lansing, Michigan that provides care for the greater Mid-Michigan region. The hospital is a subsidiary of Sparrow Health System, and is affiliated with the Colleges of Human Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine at nearby Michigan State University. Sparrow Hospital operates the only dedicated pediatric and adult emergency department in the region. The emergency department is a level I trauma center, as verified by the American College of Surgeons. It is also a Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center. Sparrow also has modern operating rooms, multiple helipads, an oncology center, heart and vascular center, and orthopedic department. In addition, 4,500 births are performed at Sparrow Hospital annually.

The Lansing City Market was an urban city market located in downtown Lansing, Michigan. The market is located along the Grand River (Michigan) and Lansing River Trail, and is west of Cooley Law School Stadium. The current $1.6 million structure opened in January 2010. Merchant space ranges from 80 square feet (7 m2) to over 800 square feet (74 m2).

Ottawa Street Power Station is a former municipal electric and steam utility generating station for the Lansing Board of Water and Light in Lansing, Michigan, located on the Grand River in the city's central business district that was redeveloped as corporate headquarters for the Accident Fund Insurance Company of America.

The Kerns Hotel fire of December 11, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan, United States, killed 34 people, including seven Michigan state legislators, and according to the Lansing Fire Department, was the worst fire disaster in the history of Lansing. The fire occurred around 5:30 am and spread rapidly through the building's wooden interior, trapping many of the hotel's 215 guests in their rooms and forcing them to escape via fire ladders or life nets. In addition to the fatalities, 42 more people, including fourteen firemen, were injured in the fire, which was thought to have been caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette.
