The Lycée Français de New York (LFNY), commonly called the Lycée (in English, "The French High School of New York"), is an independent bilingual French school serving an international community of students from Nursery-3 to twelfth grade based in Manhattan, New York City. The Lycée is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools and the French Ministry of Education, though it receives no funding from the French government. The Lycée offers a standard French curriculum taught by French-trained teachers. In parallel, students follow an American program, taught by U.S.-trained teachers, similar to what is found in New York City independent schools. Students study for the French general Baccalauréat, the international option of the French Baccalaureate, or a special Franco-American Baccalaureate (BFA), as well as the American High School Diploma. The school has over 1350 students from more than 65 different nationalities. The student to teacher ratio is approximately 7:1. Lycée graduates often attend top colleges and universities around the world with about 50 percent staying in the United States, 25 percent going to Canada, 10 percent to the UK, 10 percent to France, and a growing number attending international joint programs such as Columbia-Sciences Po.

The Town School is an independent, nonsectarian, coeducational elementary school located at 540 East 76th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Founded in 1913, the school currently has approximately 400 students enrolled from Nursery 3 through eighth grade.

The Church of the Epiphany is an Episcopal church designed in the Norman Gothic style, located at 1393 York Avenue, on the corner of East 74th Street, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City.The church was founded in 1833. The building at its current location was dedicated in 1939, and consecrated in 1944.

John Jay Park is a 3.3-acre (13,000 m2) park in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is located between East 76th and 78th Streets, and between the FDR Drive and a short street called Cherokee Place, on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The park is named for statesman and New York Governor John Jay.In 1902 the city acquired through condemnation a parcel of land at the site of the park and opened a public bath house in 1906. A swimming pool and promenade was built nearby from 1940 to 1942, part of a Work Projects Administration construction program. In 1941 the bath house was renovated to include an auditorium, recreation room, gym, and changing facility which could accommodate 1,002 male and 590 female bathers. In 2010, a substantial upgrade was completed on the bath house, allowing visitors who are disabled to have full access to the facilities.A large playground occupies almost half of the park's total acreage. The remaining half has basketball courts, handball courts, and the pool and bath house. The park is used for physical education classes by Eleanor Roosevelt High School, Lycée Français de New York, and P.S. 158. It used to house East Side Middle School students until the school moved further uptown.

On October 11, 2006, a Cirrus SR20 aircraft crashed into the Belaire Apartments in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City, at about 2:42 p.m. EDT (18:42 UTC). The aircraft struck the north side of the building, causing a fire in several apartments, that was extinguished within two hours.Both people aboard the aircraft were killed in the accident: New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and his certificated flight instructor Tyler Stanger. Twenty-one people were injured, including eleven firefighters. An apartment resident, Ilana Benhuri, who lived in the building with her husband, was hospitalized for a month with severe burns incurred when the post-impact fire engulfed her apartment.The Cirrus SR20 aircraft, tail number N929CD, was owned by Lidle. On May 1, 2007, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that the probable cause of the crash was pilot error. The NTSB was unable to determine which person was flying the aircraft at the time of the crash.

P.S. 158 (Public School #158), named the Bayard Taylor School, is a public elementary school in New York City. The school is located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It first opened in the mid-1890s. The school building occupies the entire breadth of York Avenue between 77th and 78th Street. The school reports some of the highest test scores in New York City. Therefore, it is considered one of the best schools in New York City. It was one of the first schools in the city to adopt very stringent teaching requirements to adhere to nationally developed performance standards in the 1990s. 88% of the teachers have a master's degree or higher. In 2010, 96% of fifth grade students performed at or above standards on state and city tests in the subjects of English and mathematics. The school's mascot is the owl, perhaps not coincidentally one of the ancient symbols of wisdom. In building was renovated in 2017.

The Cherokee Apartments (formerly the East River Homes and the Shively Sanitary Tenements) is a four-building apartment complex on 507–523 East 77th Street and 508–522 East 78th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Constructed in 1912 as a residence for people with tuberculosis and their families, the buildings were designed by Henry Atterbury Smith. They incorporated architectural features such as floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies, and interior courtyards that were designed to aid ailing residents. The buildings have terra cotta and brick facades with green tile roofs. Each building has a central courtyard connected to the street by vaulted passages lined with Guastavino tile. The complex was converted into regular rental apartments in 1924, and later became a co-op. It became a New York City designated landmark in 1985, and the buildings are also contributing properties to a National Register of Historic Places district.

Gracie Square Hospital is a psychiatric hospital located at 420 East 76th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City. The hospital has 157 beds for in-patients, as well as units focused on adult and geriatric psychiatry, drug rehabilitation, and short-term care. The hospital was built and founded by Cynthia Zirinsky, a mental health care professional, and her husband Richard Zirinsky, a New York City real-estate developer.The hospital had 220 beds when it opened in 1958. The hospital is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System.

Belaire Apartments (also known as the Belaire Condominiums and The Belaire) is a mixed-use high-rise condominium apartment building in Manhattan, New York City. The 42-story building is located at 524 East 72nd Street between York Avenue and the FDR Drive.

Eleanor Roosevelt High School is a small public high school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Eleanor Roosevelt High School is composed of about 33 teachers and 500 students representing over 40 countries. Initially opened at a temporary location in Chelsea, with 105 ninth graders and a staff of eight, ERHS currently has over 500 students and over 45 staff members. Every year, the school selects 125 to 140 students out of over 6,000 applicants and is often selected over specialized high schools by students looking for a more liberal curriculum. In 2021, Eleanor Roosevelt High School was ranked the 81st best public high school in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Ronald McDonald House New York (RMH-NY) is a children's 501(c)(3) charity located at 405 East 73rd Street (between First Avenue and York Avenue), on the Upper East Side in Manhattan in New York City. It provides temporary accommodation for the families of children ages 0–26 undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer, and is the only facility in New York City to provide post-transplant suites outside of a hospital.The House was officially incorporated in 1979 as 26 room facility. It has now grown to be a 95-room, 11-story, 79,000-square-foot (7,300 m2) red brick building that was built in 1989 by the Spector Group. A "Fred Lebow Room" has been dedicated at the House.The House has provided support to over 35,000 families from over 70 countries in its 95 suites. RMH-NY provides not only a place for families to stay but many amenities, programs and support services, such as meals, transportation, tutoring and wellness programs. Additionally, an extensive lineup of activities and events for guests of all ages and backgrounds are offered every day. After long days of treatment, these programs help give children and their families a break and much-needed relief.As of 2017, the President & Chief Executive Officer is Ruth C. Browne.The House accepts and relies upon thousands of volunteers, as well as canine volunteers, in addition to its full-time staff.

Sushi of Gari is a Japanese sushi restaurant located at 402 East 78th Street (between First Avenue and York Avenue) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City. It is considered to be a hallmark destination for sushi enthusiasts and is also known as the restaurant frequented by characters Max and Sean in the 2019 comedy, "The Car Crash".
