On October 11, 2006, a Cirrus SR20 aircraft crashed into the Belaire Apartments in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City, at about 2:42 p.m. EDT (18:42 UTC). The aircraft struck the north side of the building, causing a fire in several apartments, that was extinguished within two hours.Both people aboard the aircraft were killed in the accident: New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and his certificated flight instructor Tyler Stanger. Twenty-one people were injured, including eleven firefighters. An apartment resident, Ilana Benhuri, who lived in the building with her husband, was hospitalized for a month with severe burns incurred when the post-impact fire engulfed her apartment.The Cirrus SR20 aircraft, tail number N929CD, was owned by Lidle. On May 1, 2007, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that the probable cause of the crash was pilot error. The NTSB was unable to determine which person was flying the aircraft at the time of the crash.

HSS physicians with a subspecialty training in the field of spine surgery focus on patients who suffer from congenital or acute spinal disorders as well as from chronic back pain. The sports medicine services at HSS treat athletic injuries of the musculoskeletal system with a special focus on shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries. In addition, orthopedic surgeons at HSS perform limb lengthening, a procedure that uses the body's capacity to create new bone as well as the soft tissues, ligaments, blood vessels, and nerves that surround and support it. HSS also offers professional medical education programs, including continuing medical education lecture series, conferences and symposia. The Cornell University School of Nursing was a nursing school in New York City founded in 1877 as the New York Hospital Training School for Nurses; it closed in 1979. The school awarded a Bachelor of Nursing degree after five years of study, two in an undergraduate college and three at the Medical Center. It was one of the few institutions that offered an undergraduate nursing program geared especially for those who already had a bachelor's degree in another field.As a part of New York Hospital, the school began its connection with Cornell University when Cornell's Medical College affiliated with New York Hospital in 1927. In 1932, the school moved to the joint campus on the upper east side of New York when both institutions co-located. The school became a unit of Cornell University in 1942 and was renamed as the Cornell University-New York Hospital School of Nursing.The school remained financially independent of the University, however, with Cornell providing only the salary of the dean. The rest of its funding came from state and federal sources, tuition, and the daily charges billed to patients staying at New York Hospital. In the mid-1970s insurance companies started to refuse to reimburse nursing education expenses as a part of hospital charges, and federal funding also declined. A 1970 university planning review had furthermore concluded that there were enough undergraduate nursing programs available through CUNY and SUNY to serve the city. Weill Cornell Medical Center (previously known as New York Hospital or Old New York Hospital or City Hospital) is a research hospital in New York City. It is part of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the teaching hospital for Cornell University. The hospital was founded in 1771 with a charter from George III. It is the second oldest hospital in New York City and third oldest hospital in the United States. Since 1912, it has been the main teaching hospital for Weill Cornell Medicine, the biomedical research unit and medical school of Cornell University.Weill Cornell is located on East 68th Street in New York City's Upper East Side. Prior to moving to its Upper East Side location in 1932, it was located on Broadway between Duane Street and Anthony Street (now Worth Street). In 1998, Weill Cornell merged with Presbyterian Hospital to form New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

The Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (WCGS) (formerly known as the Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences) is a graduate college of Cornell University that was founded in 1952 as an academic partnership between two major medical institutions in New York City: the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Sloan Kettering Institute. The Church of the Epiphany is an Episcopal church designed in the Norman Gothic style, located at 1393 York Avenue, on the corner of East 74th Street, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City.The church was founded in 1833. The building at its current location was dedicated in 1939, and consecrated in 1944.

The Lycée Français de New York (LFNY), commonly called the Lycée (in English, "The French High School of New York"), is an independent bilingual French school serving an international community of students from Nursery-3 to twelfth grade based in Manhattan, New York City. The Lycée is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools and the French Ministry of Education, though it receives no funding from the French government. The Lycée offers a standard French curriculum taught by French-trained teachers. In parallel, students follow an American program, taught by U.S.-trained teachers, similar to what is found in New York City independent schools. Students study for the French general Baccalauréat, the international option of the French Baccalaureate, or a special Franco-American Baccalaureate (BFA), as well as the American High School Diploma. The school has over 1350 students from more than 65 different nationalities. The student to teacher ratio is approximately 7:1. The Laboratory for Bioregenerative Medicine and Surgery (LBMS) is a leading regenerative medicine research laboratory within the Department of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Under the leadership of its founder and director, Jason Spector, MD FACS, the LBMS has since its inception in 2006 focused its time and resources on the study of issues most directly relevant to reconstructive surgery. These involve pharmacologic means to reduce reperfusion injury, the use of therapeutic ultrasound for noninvasive venous ablation, and most notably, a novel approach for the creation of artificial tissues.This approach involves the fabrication of a three-dimensional construct that contains within it sacrificial microfibers that are in direct continuity with inflow and outflow macrochannels. Subsequent dissolution of the sacrificial fibers results in a construct that contains a microchannel network that closely approximates that which is found capillary beds. Most importantly, the inflow and outflow macrochannels are of sufficient size to be amenable to microsurgical manipulation, and therefore the construct is of clinical significance. This work has been reported on by the Associated Press, National Public Radio, the Discovery Channel, and Planet Green.

Ronald McDonald House New York (RMH-NY) is a children's 501(c)(3) charity located at 405 East 73rd Street (between First Avenue and York Avenue), on the Upper East Side in Manhattan in New York City. It provides temporary accommodation for the families of children ages 0–26 undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer, and is the only facility in New York City to provide post-transplant suites outside of a hospital.The House was officially incorporated in 1979 as 26 room facility. It has now grown to be a 95-room, 11-story, 79,000-square-foot (7,300 m2) red brick building that was built in 1989 by the Spector Group. A "Fred Lebow Room" has been dedicated at the House.The House has provided support to over 35,000 families from over 70 countries in its 95 suites. RMH-NY provides not only a place for families to stay but many amenities, programs and support services, such as meals, transportation, tutoring and wellness programs. Additionally, an extensive lineup of activities and events for guests of all ages and backgrounds are offered every day. After long days of treatment, these programs help give children and their families a break and much-needed relief.As of 2017, the President & Chief Executive Officer is Ruth C. Browne.The House accepts and relies upon thousands of volunteers, as well as canine volunteers, in addition to its full-time staff.

The Town School is an independent, nonsectarian, coeducational elementary school located at 540 East 76th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Founded in 1913, the school currently has approximately 400 students enrolled from Nursery 3 through eighth grade.
