St Peter's Church, Babraham

The Babraham Institute is a life sciences research institution and a partner organisation of the University of Cambridge. The Babraham Institute is based on the Babraham Research Campus, partly occupying a former manor house, but also laboratory and science facility buildings on the campus, surrounded by an extensive parkland estate, just south of Cambridge, England. It is an independent and charitable organization which is involved in biomedical research, including healthy aging and molecular biology. The director is Dr Simon Cook who also leads the Institute's signalling research programme. The Babraham Institute is a member of EU-LIFE, an alliance of leading life sciences research centres in Europe.

Babraham is a village and civil parish in the South Cambridgeshire district of Cambridgeshire, England, about 6 miles (9.7 km) south-east of Cambridge on the A1307 road. Babraham is home to the Babraham Institute which undertakes research into cell and molecular biology.

Abington railway station served Little Abington, Great Abington and Babraham in Cambridgeshire. It closed in 1851, along with its line which was one of the earliest line closures in England.

It closed in 1851, along with its line, which was one of the earliest line closures in England. The site of the station was taken over for the construction of the Railway Inn public house. It is believed that the abandoned station was reconstructed around ten years after closure when it reopened as an inn to capitalise on the newly opened Pampisford railway station. What is more, it appears that approximately one-quarter to one-third of the inn comprised the actual brickwork of the station.

Cambridge International School was a private mixed non-selective international school for children aged 11 to 16 located in Cambridge, England. It was owned by Dr Harriet Sturdy. The school was founded in 2006 and located to Cherry Hinton Hall in 2007. By 2010, the senior school was relocated to The Temple in Little Abington. In 2019, the school split with the Junior school now under different ownership and changing its name to Oaks International School. As an international school, it used English as the primary medium of instruction for students, but also operated a mother-tongue programme of first language study. Students in the Senior School studied towards a programme of IGCSEs, but also took GCSEs. In 2018, the school's GCSE results placed them 10th in the entire UK for small independent schools. Students had a variety of clubs they could participate in after school, including the option to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.The school closed in 2021.

Pampisford Hall is a country house designed by George Goldie in the civil parish of Pampisford in the English county of Cambridgeshire. It became a Grade II listed building on 29 October 1974. The hall's gates and gate piers are also Grade II listed.The gardens are Grade II* listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. They are not open to the public.

Pampisford railway station is a former British railway station in Pampisford, Cambridgeshire. It was on the Stour Valley Railway from 1865 to its closure in 1967.

Granta Park is a science, technology and biopharmaceutical park based on the bank of the River Granta in Great Abington near Cambridge, England. The first idea for the park came from the then Chief Executive of The Welding Institute (TWI Ltd) Bevan Braithwaite OBE. He started negotiations in 1992 for an option to buy the key 87 acres of farm land, on which Granta Park is now built, and obtained the planning permission from South Cambridgeshire District Council, which laid down the basic concept for a high quality, low density, fully landscaped development. A design team comprising Latz+Partner, a leading German landscape design company and Eric Parry Architects developed the master plan for the park in consideration of ecological criteria with the aim of preserving and enhancing the existing rural landscape and ensuring the site would be easily accessible. A joint partnership was formed between TWI Ltd and MEPC plc, and Granta Park Ltd was created. MEPC, who at that time had already made a success of Milton Park in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, supported TWI professionally to turn Bevan Braithwaite's vision of a new Cambridge science and technology park into reality.The new park began to take shape at Great Abington following a groundbreaking ceremony held at the end of 1997. Bevan Braithwaite, the Chief Executive of TWI Ltd, teamed-up with Councillor Shirley Saunders, Chairman of South Cambridgeshire County Council, and Gavin Davidson of MEPC plc to launch the building of a cluster of modern R&D facilities. Most of the key infrastructure was completed by summer 1998 with the development programme of the first Phase taking 5–7 years. Set around a cricket pitch and overlooking a new lake in the wooded grounds adjacent to Abington Hall, the buildings contain research facilities and business accommodation for several thousand staff. Granta Park provides not only new facilities for The Welding Institute's extensive R&D laboratories but also fulfils a need for purpose-built locations for the area's expanding biotech and technology sector. Brent Ditch is generally assumed to be an Anglo-Saxon earthwork in Southern Cambridgeshire, England, built around the 6th and 7th Centuries . However most of its structure has been lost over time. The site is scheduled as an ancient monument by Historic England.2 km (~1mile) in length it runs from Pampisford Hall in the North-West to Abington in the South-East. For most of its length it is wooded and it is on private land and so difficult to access. It was built as a defensive structure to control the flow of trade along ancient routes. In modern times it is bisected by the routes of the old and new A11. It is from the old single carriageway road (grid reference TL514474) that the structure is best viewed as a low ditch in a wooded area besides the road. The earth works at this point are 2 to 3 m high. The dyke is one of the smaller earthworks of several in south Cambridgeshire designed to control movement along the ancient Roman roads. The others are Devil's Dyke, Fleam Dyke and Bran Ditch. Black Ditches, Cavenham is a fifth earthwork guarding the ancient Icknield Way and can be found in Suffolk north west of Bury St Edmunds

Pampisford is a village, south of Cambridge, on the A505 road near Sawston, Cambridgeshire, England. The remaining section of a defensive ditch, dug to close the gap between forest and marsh, is known as Brent Ditch, which runs between Abington Park and Dickman's Grove, and is most clearly seen in the park of Pampisford Hall.

The Roman Road in Cambridgeshire, also known as Worsted Street Roman Road, is a 12.4-hectare (31-acre) linear biological Site of Special Scientific Interest stretching from south-east of Cambridge to north of Linton. It is also a Scheduled Monument, and is maintained by Cambridgeshire County Council.This green lane has calcareous grassland, thick hedges and small copses, which provide a valuable habitat for invertebrates. There are grasses such as sheep’s-fescue and quaking-grass, while herbs include wild carrot and purple milk-vetch.The date of the road is uncertain, but archaeological excavation has confirmed that it is Roman, and probably constructed later than the first century. It was a local road connecting Cambridge to the Icknield Way.The road is a public footpath and part of the E2 European long distance path.

Sawston Hall Meadows is a 7.4-hectare (18-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Sawston in Cambridgeshire.This site has spring fed peat meadows on chalk, a habitat formerly common but now rare. It has the nationally rare flower Selinum carvifolia, which is only found in Cambridgeshire. Drier grassland has a varied flora including spotted-orchid.The site is private land with no public access.
