The Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg (Latin: Dioecesis Lausannensis, Genevensis et Friburgensis) is a Latin Catholic diocese in Switzerland, which is (as all sees in the Alpine country) exempt (i.e. immediately subject to the Holy See, not part of any ecclesiastical province). It comprises the Cantons of Fribourg, Geneva, Vaud and Neuchâtel, with the exception of certain parishes of the right bank of the Rhône belonging to the Diocese of Sion (Sitten). It was created by the merger in 1821 of the Diocese of Lausanne and the Diocese of Geneva, both prince-bishoprics until they were secularized during the Reformation. Until 1924, it was called the Diocese of Lausanne and Geneva. The diocese has its seat at Fribourg; it has 680,000 Catholics, constituting 51% of the population of its district (as of 2004). The current bishop is Charles Morerod, O.P., who was ordained and installed on 11 December 2011. Despite the name, it has no direct link with the former Roman Catholic Diocese of Geneva (400-1801), which was merged into the then Diocese of Chambéry, which was promoted a Metropolitan see but lost former Genevan territory to the bishopric of Lausanne in 1819.

Fribourg Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas de Fribourg) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Fribourg, Switzerland, built in the Gothic style, on a rocky outcrop 50 metres above the river Sarine (Saane), dominating the medieval town below. It is the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg.

The Musée d'art et d'histoire is a museum of art and history in the town of Fribourg in Switzerland, founded in 1774 by Tobie Gerfer. It is now housed in two main buildings - the 16th century hôtel Ratzé and a former abattoir - on either side of rue de Morat and linked by an underground passageway. The arrangement of its galleries dates to a redisplay in 1981. It mainly houses sculptures, paintings and decorative art produced in the town from the medieval era to the present day as well as 17th and 18th century historical items. It includes a glass-working gallery and a gallery devoted to the sculptor Adèle d'Affry alias Marcello.

The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (Latin: Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri; FSSP) is a traditionalist Catholic society of apostolic life for priests and seminarians which is in communion with the Holy See. The society was founded in 1988 under the leadership of 12 priests who were formerly members of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), another traditionalist organization, but were unwilling to remain part of it following the Écône consecrations, which resulted in its bishops being excommunicated by the Holy See. Headquartered in Switzerland, the society maintains two international seminaries: the International Seminary of St. Peter in Wigratzbad-Opfenbach, Bavaria, Germany, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska, United States. The society is officially recognized by the Holy See and its priests celebrate the Tridentine Mass in locations in 147 worldwide dioceses.

AV (Akademische Verbindung; academic society) Fryburgia is a fraternity or Studentenverbindung at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. Male students of all faculties are eligible to become members. The fraternity is a section of the Schweizerischer Studentenverein (Swiss Student's Society; SSS).

Collège Saint-Michel (German: Kollegium St. Michael) is a Gymnasium school located in Fribourg, Switzerland. It was established in 1582 by the Jesuit order as a boys' school.

The Cantonal and University Library (German: Kantons- und Universitätsbibliothek (KUB), French: Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire (BCU), also known as the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire de Fribourg (BCUF)) is a cantonal and university library that located in the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. BCU founded in 1848, comprises a central library and decentralized libraries, notably at the University of Fribourg. All libraries are managed according to the same library principles and guidelines. BCU is part of the Directorate of Education, Culture and Sport (EKSD) of the Canton of Fribourg and is affiliated to the Office of Culture. Its mission is to contribute to the development of the intellectual and cultural life of the canton, both for the university community and for the general public. It is part of the Western Switzerland Library Network (RERO) and works closely with the other libraries in the canton. It has been a member of the Swiss Library Service Platform (SLSP) network since 2020.

Poya Bridge (French: Pont de la Poya) is a cable-stayed bridge in Fribourg, Switzerland. The bridge is 851.6 metres (2,794 ft) in overall length with a 196 m (643 ft) main span over the Sarine River, which is the longest main span in Switzerland. The bridge was built to remove traffic from the Zaehringen Bridge and adjacent neighborhoods and upon opening, on 12 October 2014, the Zaehringen Bridge was closed to most motor vehicles.

La Maigrauge Abbey or Magerau Abbey (French: Abbaye de la Maigrauge; German: Abtei Magerau) is a monastery of Cistercian nuns located in Fribourg, Switzerland, and founded in 1255. The abbey is situated on the Sarine River and lies on the border between French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland. The community is bilingual.

The Bible and Orient Museum (officially: BIBLE+ORIENT Museum) in Fribourg, Switzerland is the exhibition of a collection of ancient Egyptian and ancient Near Eastern miniature art, as well as a project to create a modern museum to compare biblical and extra-biblical texts with archaeological, epigraphical and iconographical data. This comparison is aimed at offering stimulating insights for the advancement of the interreligious dialog.
