Siskiyou Summit

Siskiyou Pass (sometimes called Siskiyou Summit) is a historic mountain pass in the Siskiyou Mountains of Jackson County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is the most used pass in Oregon. The Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) made the Siskiyou Trail over the pass before pioneers traversed it with their wagons, while still later it evolved into a stage road, a railroad line, and a highway route. The name Siskiyou is believed to be derived from Cree, meaning "bob-tailed horse". Siskiyou Pass is west of the summit (high point) of Interstate 5, which is known as Siskiyou Summit (though sometimes it is referred to as "Siskiyou Pass").

Colestin is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. It is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of Siskiyou Pass and 10 miles (16 km) south-southeast of Ashland along Colestin Road, which connects to Interstate 5 via Mount Ashland Road. Colestin is adjacent to part of the Klamath National Forest in the Siskiyou Mountains.The community is named after Byron Cole, who with his brother settled a donation land claim straddling the Oregon–California border and established a stagecoach station called Cole's. After selling his interest in the station in 1859, Byron Cole acquired land and a mineral spring further north. In 1883, anticipating completion of a railroad between the two states, he built a hotel at the site. In August that year, a post office was established there and named White Point. Ed J. Farlow was the first postmaster and Cole the second. In 1892, the post office name was changed to Colestin, and it operated under that name until closing in 1943.The change in the post office name was preceded by construction of a Southern Pacific (SP) railway station at this location. In 1887, the SP had leased the Oregon and California Railroad line, which had extended as far south as Ashland by 1884. The SP then completed the line, connecting it to existing SP tracks in northern California. A railway timetable from that era lists Hornbrook as the next station south of Cole's on the SP's Mt. Shasta Route between Portland and San Francisco.

Chocolate Falls is a waterfall in the Bear Gulch valley, east side of the Klamath National Forest, south of Ashland in Jackson County, Oregon. Access to Chocolate Falls is from Colestin Road, south of the Trashi Chöling Buddhist Center and Temple Garden. Bear Gulch valley and its surrounding Mudusa Flat forest has several caves, as well as meadows and old-growth sugar pine. The Pacific Crest Trail passes just north of Chocolate Falls.

Wall Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is a tributary to Hill Creek.Wall Creek was named in the 1870s after one Andrew J. Walls.

Pilot Rock is a prominent volcanic plug located in the western Cascade Range near the east end of the Siskiyou Mountains, just east of the Siskiyou Summit near Ashland, Oregon. Rising thousands of feet above the Shasta and Rogue valleys, it is a landmark distinguishable from over 40 miles (64 km) away. At 25.6 million years old, it is one of the oldest formations of the Cascade Range. The rock is protected by the Cascade–Siskiyou National Monument and the Soda Mountain Wilderness. Several trails pass near Pilot Rock, including the Pacific Crest Trail.

Hilt (also known as Hilts) is an unincorporated community in Siskiyou County, California, United States. The community is along Interstate 5 near the Oregon border, 18 miles (29 km) north of Yreka. It is named for early settler John Hilt. Hilt was a company town for the Northern California Lumber Co. and the Fruit Growers Supply Co.

Songer Butte is a summit in the U.S. state of Oregon. The elevation is 2,736 feet (834 m).Songer Butte was named after one William F. Songer.

Tyler Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is a tributary to Emigrant Creek. Tyler Creek was named in the 1870s after James M. Tyler.

Hill Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Oregon. It empties into Emigrant Lake.Hill Creek was named after one Isaac Hill.

Buckhorn Springs is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, United States. It lies along Emigrant Creek in the Siskiyou Mountains southeast of Ashland. Buckhorn Springs Road connects the community to Oregon Route 66 near Emigrant Lake. The springs at this location are known for their cold, highly carbonated water. James C. Tolman, who acquired the property around the springs in the 1890s, built a small hotel here called Tolman Springs. Subsequent owners used the property, springs, and buildings in various ways: as a hunting retreat called Buckhorn Lodge; as a picnic stop for tourists who sometimes used the carbonated water to make soda pop; as a retreat with overnight cabins and mineral mud baths; as a health spa, as a private residence; as an inn, and after 1998 as the Buckhorn Springs Retreat Center. Buckhorn Mineral Springs Resort was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The site covers 95 acres (38 ha) and includes many structures in addition to the main lodge.

KRVC (98.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a CHR/Pop format. Licensed to Hornbrook, California, United States, the station serves the Medford-Ashland area. The station is currently owned by Opus Broadcasting Systems, Inc.

Emigrant Lake is a reservoir located 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Ashland, Oregon, at the southern end of the Rogue Valley. It has an elevation of 2,241 feet (683 m) above sea level. The lake has an average surface area of 806 acres (3.26 km2), and an average volume of 40,530 acre-feet (49,990,000 m3). The lake is impounded by Emigrant Lake Dam, which stands 205 feet (62 m) above the surrounding farmland, and is located on Emigrant Creek at the west side of the lake. The spillway is at the northern tip of the lake. Emigrant Creek is a tributary of Bear Creek.
