Castellau ("fortifications"; alternate: Castella) is a hamlet, with a country house of the same name in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. Historically, it lies within the parish of Llantrisant, just north-west of Beddau. It is connected with the history of the Trahernes. In 1988, Ysgol Castellau became the first Welsh medium education school to open in the southeast within new buildings.

Pen-y-coedcae is a village within the electoral ward of Graig and Pontypridd West, between the town of Pontypridd and the village of Beddau, and is part of the community of the town of Pontypridd, within Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales.

Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School is an 11–18 mixed, English-medium, community secondary school and sixth form in Beddau, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.

Beddau (English: Graves Welsh: Y Beddau) is a large former mining village (and electoral ward) situated within the South Wales Valleys around 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from Llantrisant and 4 miles (6.4 km) from the larger town of Pontypridd in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales.

The Royal Mint Museum is a numismatics museum located in Llantrisant, Wales, which houses coins, medals, artwork and minting equipment previous owned by the Royal Mint. Although the museum is located on the same site as the Royal Mint, the mint and the museum are separate companies. In partnership with the mint, a new £9 million visitor centre was built to allow members of the public to view part of the museum's collection.

The Coinage Act 1816 (56 Geo. 3. c. 68), also known as the Coin Act 1816 or Liverpool's Act, defined the value of the pound sterling relative to gold. One troy pound of standard (22-carat) gold was defined as equivalent to £46 14s 6d., i.e. 44½ guineas, the guinea having been fixed in December 1717 at £1 1s exactly. According to its preamble, the purposes of the Act were to: prohibit the use of silver coins (which would now be of reduced weight, 66 shillings rather than 62 shillings per troy pound), for transactions larger than 40s establish a single gold standard for transactions of all sizes.

Taff-Ely (Welsh: Taf-Elái) was a local government district with borough status in Wales from 1974 to 1996.

On 12 August 1893 a T-link broke beneath a locomotive running down the bank from Merthyr to Cardiff hauling a passenger train. This allowed an underhung spring to break away from the engine and foul the wheels of the leading van, derailing the entire train. The first six carriages ran down an embankment, killing thirteen.

Llantrisant (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˈtrɪsant] ; "Parish of the Three Saints") is a town in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan, Wales, lying on the River Ely and the Afon Clun. The three saints of the town's name are SS. Illtyd, Gwynno, and Dyfodwg. Llantrisant is a hilltop settlement, at an altitude of 174 m (571 ft) above sea level. The town is home to the Royal Mint.

Llantrisant Guildhall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref Llantrisant) is a municipal building on Castle Green, Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The structure, which is used as a visitor centre, is a Grade II listed building.

Maesycoed is a settlement to the south and west of Pontypridd town centre in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Maesycoed is a district in the town of Pontypridd within the Rhondda electoral ward and is bounded by Graig to the south, Pwllgwaun to the east and Hopkinstown and Mynydd Gelliwion to the north.

Llantrisant Common and Pastures is a 113-hectare (280-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, south Wales. It was established in 2000. The Countryside Council for Wales states that the site has been categorized as a Site of Special Interest for "...its extensive area of acidic marshy grassland in a lowland setting, as well as for smaller areas of species-rich neutral grassland, dry acidic grassland and flush. It is also of special interest for populations of two rare plants: Cornish moneywort (Sibthorpia europaea) and a liverwort known as bog earwort (Scapania paludicola).
