Palm Tree Mosque, or the Church of Jan van Bougies, or the Dadelboom Mosque, is a former residence and current mosque in Long Street, Cape Town, South Africa. It is the oldest substantially unaltered building in Long Street. The building stands on land once owned by Hermanus Smuts, south-west of a block of land granted to him in 1751. The grant was bounded by Long, Leeuwen and Keerom Streets. After his wife died in 1754, portions of the property were sold off. At the time the property had stables on it. It was purchased by one J. M. Vogel and again, after Vogel's death in 1777, by Baron Willem Ferdinand van Reede van Oudtshoorn. In 1782 it was transferred to one of his sons. Successive owners were Daniel Hugo (1785), Daniel Krynauw (1786) and Carel Lodewijk Schot (1787).Schot went bankrupt, but is probably responsible for building the first residence in about 1788. The property was bought by J. P. Roux in 1790. Freed slaves Jan van Bougies and Frans van Bengalen bought the property in 1807 and Jan van Bougies became the sole owner in 1811. Jan and Frans, along with some followers, broke away from the Auwal Mosque, when the former failed to succeed as imam. When Jan van Bougies died in 1846, aged 112, he left the property to his wife Samida of the Cape, but specified that it continue to operate as a mosque, the second oldest in Cape Town.The second storey was presumable added after the house had been turned into a mosque some time between 1811 and 1821. There was once a garden in front of the house, in which two palm trees grew. Today there is one of the remaining trees, with a new tree planted on the 8 November 1965, to replace the one that was blown over by a strong wind. The low sash window and shortened door are not by design; Long Street was raised over the years.

The Beerhouse is a speciality beer hall which opened in Cape Town's Upper Long Street on International Beer Day, Friday 2 August 2013.Occupying a two-storey Victorian building, the former premises of Bead Merchants of Africa, The Beerhouse comprises a long bar, inside lounge/dining area and outside terrace with historic wrought-iron balcony.The brainchild of German entrepreneur, Randolf Jorberg, Beerhouse stocks bottled and draught beer from 13 countries, 99 bottled beers of various styles all numbered and displayed on a beer wall, and 15-20 beers on tap.As a proponent of the local craft beer revolution, Beerhouse has a strong bias towards supporting South African microbreweries of which the Western Cape boasts over 100. In addition to clear, weiss and experimental brews, traditional African beer, Umqombothi, made from corn, sorghum malt and yeast is available. The Beerhouse carries through its theme with beer keg wash-basins in the wash-rooms and is featured in Thrillist's "21 Best Beer Bars in the World"

Gallery Mau Mau (1996–1998) was a counter-culture "art space" situated in Cape Town, South Africa. Although short-lived, the experimental space provided low-cost access to the arts for artists of all races, broke boundaries and defined the period in which a visual arts culture saw enormous growth in the city. It was run by cultural activist David Robert Lewis, multimedia artist Adam Lieber, musician and disk jockey Nick Birkby and fine artist Chris Slack. The gallery launched the careers of some of South Africa's best known young artists: Mustafa Maluka had his very first solo show there, as did Donovon Ward and Julia Clark. Other artists include Barend de Wet, Beezy Bailey, Norman Catherine, (see list of participants below).

The Western Cape Division of the High Court of South Africa (previously named the Cape Provincial Division and the Western Cape High Court, and commonly known as the Cape High Court) is a superior court of law with general jurisdiction over the Western Cape province of South Africa (except for the Murraysburg district which falls within the jurisdiction of the Eastern Cape Division). The division, which sits at Cape Town, consists of 31 judges led by Judge President John Hlophe.

The Huguenot Memorial Building, located at 48 Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town, is a provincial heritage site in Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. In 1980 it was described in the Government Gazette as This predominantly Edwardian building was erected by the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church to commemorate the arrival of the French Huguenots (1688). The foundation stone was laid on 24 August 1899 and the building was officially opened on 15 October 1903. The mortal remains of President S. J. P. Kruger lay in state here from 1 December to 6 December 1904. The grounds for the memorial were not easily obtained. The Huguenot Memorial Society had to go to the Supreme Court in order to secure the rights to the disused cemetery where they intended to erect the building.The building houses the Cape Town office of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

The Cecil John Rhodes Statue is a monument erected at Company's Garden in Cape Town. The statue was erected in 1908. It features a full body replica of Cecil Rhodes wearing a three-piece suit, standing with his left hand raised and pointing north. It has been compared to the Jan van Riebeeck statue, which faces south and asserts a different sense of occupation. Despite its size, the present location of the monument in the Company's Garden makes it less significant in comparison to that of Jan Smuts at Adderley Street, Cape Town, a location that had been considered for the placement of the Rhodes statue.

Tot Nut van het Algemeen (trans. 'For the good of all'), commonly known as Tot Nut, was a Dutch-medium school in Cape Town from 1804 to 1870.

The Japanese Lantern Monument is a symbol of political relations between the Japanese government and South Africa. This monument is currently located at the Company's Garden in Cape Town. A lantern is portable light device used as a source of light or touch like mechanism to illuminate an area of darkness. In traditional Japanese society, lanterns have been very significant in both culture and religion. In 1933, the Japanese government offered to construct a lantern monument in the Company's Garden which was handed to the Government of South Africa as a symbol of appreciation for their benevolence towards Japanese immigrants during World War I.

A statue of Sir George Grey stands in Company's Garden, in Cape Town, South Africa, in front of the local campus of the National Library of South Africa. The inscription on it reads "Sir George Grey K.C.B. Governor 1854–1861." Grey left his own personal library, the Grey Collection, to this library. William Calder Marshall from London completed the sculpture in 1863.

The Centre for the Book is a building situated next to the Company's Gardens in Cape Town. The building is run for the state by an independent organization of the same name, to promote literacy, reading, publishing and for conferences, symposia, training courses and exhibitions pertaining to these.

Stalplein lies at the point where Plein, Roeland, and St. John's Streets meet in Cape Town, South Africa. Plein and Parliament Streets run southwest to Stalplein. The greater part of the square is no longer publicly accessible, since it is now confined within the grounds of the Houses of Parliament. The square features the Tuynhuys, a statue of Louis Botha, a bust of Nelson Mandela, St. Mary's Cathedral, and the De Goede Hoop Masonic Temple. In 1705, Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel of the Dutcht East India Company ordered stables built for the company in what was then known as Looyersplein (Afrikaans: Tanner's Square), thereby renaming it Stalplein from the Dutch for "Stable Square." The stables went into such disrepair that they were demolished 86 years later. The area east of the Tuynhuys was henceforward used as a town square. On May 31, 1986, Stalplein was redeveloped with a memorial garden and monument dedicated to South African soldiers. Botha's statue was moved at this time. The Mandela sculpture was unveiled on April 28, 2014.

The Company's Garden is the oldest garden in South Africa, a park and heritage site located in central Cape Town. The garden was originally created in the 1650s by the region's first European settlers and provided fertile ground to grow fresh produce to replenish ships rounding the Cape. It is watered from the Molteno Dam, which uses water from the springs on the lower slopes of Table Mountain.
