Company's Garden

Artillery Memorial, Cape Town was erected in memory of the gunners who fought for South Africa during World War I. The memorial, which forms part of the Delville Wood Memorial, is located in the Company's Garden, Cape Town, and was strategically established to commemorate South Africa's artillery soldiers who fell in battle. Of those who volunteered to fight during the war, 5800 were white South African, amongst whom 15% were Dutch and 85% English. An estimated 2536 of these men were killed in the Deville Wood battle in Europe. The Artillery Memorial, an authentic cannon facing east towards the National Gallery, proudly honors South Africa's heavy artillerymen. Inscribed on it are the names of the officers, N.C.O.'s and men of the South African artillery who fell in the Great War (1914–1918).The memorial is classified as a public monument and as such is subject to protection in terms of heritage legislation administered by Heritage Western Cape the provincial heritage resources authority of the Western Cape Province.

Stalplein lies at the point where Plein, Roeland, and St. John's Streets meet in Cape Town, South Africa. Plein and Parliament Streets run southwest to Stalplein. The greater part of the square is no longer publicly accessible, since it is now confined within the grounds of the Houses of Parliament. The square features the Tuynhuys, a statue of Louis Botha, a bust of Nelson Mandela, St. Mary's Cathedral, and the De Goede Hoop Masonic Temple. In 1705, Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel of the Dutcht East India Company ordered stables built for the company in what was then known as Looyersplein (Afrikaans: Tanner's Square), thereby renaming it Stalplein from the Dutch for "Stable Square." The stables went into such disrepair that they were demolished 86 years later. The area east of the Tuynhuys was henceforward used as a town square. On May 31, 1986, Stalplein was redeveloped with a memorial garden and monument dedicated to South African soldiers. Botha's statue was moved at this time. The Mandela sculpture was unveiled on April 28, 2014.

The Cecil John Rhodes Statue is a monument erected at Company's Garden in Cape Town. The statue was erected in 1908. It features a full body replica of Cecil Rhodes wearing a three-piece suit, standing with his left hand raised and pointing north. It has been compared to the Jan van Riebeeck statue, which faces south and asserts a different sense of occupation. Despite its size, the present location of the monument in the Company's Garden makes it less significant in comparison to that of Jan Smuts at Adderley Street, Cape Town, a location that had been considered for the placement of the Rhodes statue.

The Iziko South African National Gallery is the national art gallery of South Africa located in Cape Town. It became part of the Iziko collection of museums – as managed by the Department of Arts and Culture – in 2001. It then became an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture. Its collection consists largely of Dutch, French and British works from the 17th to the 19th century. This includes lithographs, etchings and some early 20th-century British paintings. Contemporary art work displayed in the gallery is selected from many of South Africa's communities and the gallery houses an authoritative collection of sculpture and beadwork.

The Centre for the Book is a building situated next to the Company's Gardens in Cape Town. The building is run for the state by an independent organization of the same name, to promote literacy, reading, publishing and for conferences, symposia, training courses and exhibitions pertaining to these.

The Huguenot Memorial Building, located at 48 Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town, is a provincial heritage site in Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. In 1980 it was described in the Government Gazette as This predominantly Edwardian building was erected by the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church to commemorate the arrival of the French Huguenots (1688). The foundation stone was laid on 24 August 1899 and the building was officially opened on 15 October 1903. The mortal remains of President S. J. P. Kruger lay in state here from 1 December to 6 December 1904. The grounds for the memorial were not easily obtained. The Huguenot Memorial Society had to go to the Supreme Court in order to secure the rights to the disused cemetery where they intended to erect the building.The building houses the Cape Town office of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

The South African International Exhibition held in Cape Town, Cape Colony was a world's fair held in 1877 which opened on 15 February by Henry Bartle Frere.

The Jacob Gitlin Library in Cape Town, South Africa is an archive of information on Judaism, Jewish culture and history, and the nation of Israel. It was founded under the auspices of the South African Zionist Federation in 1959. The library is housed in the same building as the St. John's Street synagogue, the South African Jewish Museum, the Great Synagogue, and the Holocaust Centre. It is near the Houses of Parliament and the Tuynhuys, lying in a block between Company's Garden, St. John's Street, and a spur of Hatfield Street. Its namesake, Jacob Gitlin, was secretary of the local Dorshei Zion Society for 27 years.

De Tuynhuys (Garden House) is the Cape Town office of the president of South Africa.

The Consulate General of France in Cape Town is a consular representation of the French Republic in South Africa. The consular district includes the three Cape provinces, Prince Edward Islands and the British territory of Saint Helena (Saint Helena Island, Tristan Da Cunha Archipelago, Ascension Island). Three honorary Consuls, in Port Elizabeth, East London and Saint Helena depend on the Consulate of Cape Town. People living in Lesotho or in one in the six other South African provinces depend on the French Consulate General of Johannesburg. The Consulate General is currently located on 78 Queen Victoria Street. Under the authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development (France), the Consulate General of France is responsible for the protection and administrative affairs of French nationals settled or traveling within South Africa. The Consulate General provides many services to the French community and those who desire to travel to France.

The Gardens Shul, formally, the Cape Town Hebrew Congregation, founded in 1841, located in the Cape Town Botanical Gardens, in the Gardens neighborhood of Cape Town, is the oldest Jewish congregation in South Africa. The rabbi is Rabbi Feldman and the cantor is Choni Goldman. The congregation, known as "The Mother Synagogue of South Africa," possesses two historic structures, the 1863 synagogue and the 1905 synagogue. The original 1849 building is no longer extant.The synagogue grounds also house the South African Jewish Museum.

The South African Jewish Museum is a museum of South African Jewish life, history and identity. The museum is situated in the downtown neighbourhood of Gardens in Cape Town. It is located in the grounds of Gardens Shul, and is in the same complex as the Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre and the Gardens Jewish Community Centre (which houses the Jacob Gitlin Library). It is also close to the Iziko South African National Gallery and Houses of Parliament. The museum was founded by the late philanthropist, Mendel Kaplan. It documents the community's historical roots in Lithuania and elsewhere. Thereon it documents the role of South African Jewry in South African society and their contributions to a number of diverse fields.
