Central Fire Station, Yangon (Burmese: ရန်ကုန်တိုင်းဒေသကြီး မီးသတ်စခန်း) is a colonial-era landmark in Yangon, Myanmar of historical significance, and designated on the Yangon City Heritage List. The building continues to be used as a fire station. The building was built in 1912, designed by the British firm United Engineers Limited. It was built to house Rangoon's fire brigade, which had been established by the Rangoon Municipal Committee in 1883. The municipality acquired a plot of land on Sule Pagoda Road at a cost of 40,000 rupees. The building, built in the Edwardian style, is noted for its 100 ft (30 metres) octagonal watchtower, and was one of the first iron-frame buildings in Yangon.

The Muslim Free Hospital (Burmese: မွတ်စ်လင်ကုသိုလ်ဖြစ်ဆေးရုံ) was established as a small dispensary in 1937 in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Burma) and gradually it has come up to the present status of a 160 bedded hospital.The chief aims and objectives of the hospital are to help the poor, the needy and the sick without discrimination of caste, creed or colour. The hospital is one of many in Myanmar run purely on a voluntary means and raises funds to treat people. The hospital comprises three buildings; main on the Maha Bandula Garden Street and two buildings on the 35th Street and are connected by over head bridges. The author and human rights activist Ma Thida has worked as a surgeon at the hospital.

Downtown Yangon (also known as the Yangon Central Business District or Yangon CBD; formerly the Cantonment) is the central business district of Yangon, Myanmar, located close to the geographic centre of the metropolitan area. The area features many of the city's major arts institutions and sports facilities.

Sule Shangri-La Hotel (formerly, Traders Hotel) is a hotel located in downtown Yangon. It was the tallest building in Myanmar from 1996 to 1999. The 466-room hotel used to be known as Traders Hotel before it was rebranded in 2014 as Sule Shangri-La Yangon by its owner Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.

Yangon City Hall (Burmese: ရန်ကုန်မြို့တော်ခန်းမ; YCH) is the city hall of Yangon, the largest city of Myanmar, and the seat of the city's administrative body, Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC). The building is considered a fine example of syncretic Burmese architecture, featuring traditional tiered roofs called pyatthat, and was designed by Burmese architect U Tin, who also designed Central Railway Station. Construction began in 1926 and ended in 1936. The city hall occupies the former site of the Ripon Hall.The city hall has been the focal point of several major political demonstrations, including a 1964 People's Peace Committee rally supported by Thakin Kodaw Hmaing, which attracted 200,000 people and was subsequently clamped down by Ne Win's military junta. and the site of several bombings, including one in 2000, 2008, and 2009.Centrally located in downtown Yangon, it is next to several important landmarks such as Sule Pagoda, Maha Bandula Park, High Court, and the Main Post Office. The building is listed on the Yangon City Heritage List.

Kyauktada Township (Burmese: ကျောက်တံတား မြို့နယ် [tɕaʊʔdədá mjo̰nɛ̀]) is the center of downtown Yangon, Myanmar. The township consists of nine wards, and shares borders with Botataung Township in the east, Seikkan Township and Yangon River in the south, Pabedan Township in the west and Mingala Taungnyunt Township in the north.The township is home to many historic buildings, including the Sule Pagoda, the City Hall, the High Court Building, the Strand Hotel as well as embassies of the UK and India. Three of the tallest buildings in Yangon, the Traders Hotel (now Sule Shangri-La), the Sakura Tower, and the Center Point Tower are located in Kyauktada. Many government offices are headquartered here. Maha Bandula Park across from Sule Pagoda and the city hall is a major recreational area in the downtown area. The township has five primary schools, one middle school and one high school. Many of its school children attend high schools in nearby townships of Botataung and Pabedan.

Pabedan Township (Burmese: ပန်းဘဲတန်း မြို့နယ်, pronounced [bəbɛ́dáɰ̃ mjo̰nɛ̀]) is located in the center of downtown Yangon, Myanmar. The township is home to Bogyoke Aung San Market and Theingyi Market, two of the largest markets in all of Yangon. The township consists of eleven wards, and shares borders with Kyauktada township in the east, Seikkan township and Yangon river in the south, Latha township in the west and Dagon township in the north.The township has three primary schools, two middle schools, three high schools., and BEHS 2 Pabedan.

Bogyoke Aung San Market (Burmese: ဗိုလ်ချုပ်အောင်ဆန်းဈေး; formerly the Scott Market) is a major bazaar located in Pabedan township in central Yangon, Myanmar. Known for its colonial architecture and inner cobblestone streets, the market is a major tourist destination, dominated by antique, Burmese handicraft and jewellery shops, art galleries, and clothing stores. Bogyoke Market is a popular black market location to exchange currency. The market also has a number of stores for local shoppers, selling medicine, foodstuffs, garments and foreign goods. Moreover, it is the best place to make photo shoots with the ancient building. The market always closes on Monday.

The Sule Pagoda (Burmese: ဆူးလေဘုရား; pronounced [sʰúlè pʰəjá]) is a Burmese Buddhist stupa located in the heart of downtown Yangon, occupying the centre of the city and an important space in contemporary Burmese politics, ideology and geography. According to legend, it was built before the Shwedagon Pagoda during the time of the Buddha, making it more than 2,600 years old. Burmese legend states that the site for the Shwedagon Pagoda was asked to be revealed from an old nat who resided at the place where the Sule Pagoda now stands. The Sule Pagoda has been the focal point of both Yangon and Burmese politics. It has served as a rallying point in the 1988 uprisings, 2007 Saffron Revolution and 2021 Spring Revolution. The pagoda is listed on the Yangon City Heritage List.

Yangon Central railway station (Burmese: ရန်ကုန် ဘူတာကြီး [jàɰ̃ɡòʊɰ̃ bùdàdʑí]), also known as Yangon Central Station, is the largest railway station in Myanmar. It is located within downtown Yangon, and serves as the gateway to Myanmar Railways' 3,126 mi (5,031 km) rail network whose reach covers Upper Myanmar (Naypyidaw, Mandalay, Shwebo), upcountry (Myitkyina), Shan hills (Taunggyi, Kalaw), and the Taninthayi coast (Mawlamyine, Ye). The station was first built in 1877 by the British, and was later rebuilt in 1911. However, the station was destroyed by the retreating British in 1943 from advancing Japanese forces. The current station building was designed by U Tin in traditional Burmese architectural style, making prominent use of indigenous tiered roofs called pyatthat, and was completed on 5 June 1954. Yangon Central railway station has been designated a landmark building since 1996.
