Benderloch was a railway station located in Benderloch, Argyll and Bute, on the north east shore of Ardmucknish Bay. It was on the Ballachulish branch line that linked Connel Ferry, on the main line of the Callander and Oban Railway, with Ballachulish.

Benderloch (Scottish Gaelic: Meadarloch, pronounced [ˈmet̪əɾl̪ˠɔx]) is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The name is derived from Beinn eadar dà loch, meaning "mountain between two lochs".Benderloch lies on the A828 road in the coastal parish of Ardchattan, Argyll, Scotland. It grew up as the railway line from Ballachulish to Connel was completed in the early part of the 1900s, between the older locations of Selma and Craigneuk. Its railway station closed in 1966. Benderloch has a village shop (the renowned "Pink Shop"), garage, caravan and leisure store, cafe and a forest walk up to a viewpoint on the summit of Beinn Lora. Benderloch forms part of the Lynn of Lorn National Scenic Area, one of forty in Scotland.

The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) is one of Europe's leading marine science research organisations, one of the oldest oceanographic organisations in the world and is Scotland's largest and oldest independent marine science organisation. Sited on the Dunstaffnage peninsula, beside Dunstaffnage Castle and near Oban, Argyll on the Scottish west coast, SAMS marine research and teaching portfolio is diverse in topic and discipline, global in outlook and relevance, and delivered in partnership with academic, business, government, regulatory, voluntary and civic society colleagues. Advanced research is carried out in the marine environment, including polar research in the Arctic and Antarctic, climate change and marine biological research. SAMS is an academic partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands and delivers BSc, Masters and doctorate] programmes in the marine science field. It is also a member of the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS), and one of its staff is the director of the Scottish Alliance for Geoscience, Environment and Society (SAGES).

Oban Airport (Scottish Gaelic: Port-adhair an Òbain) (IATA: OBN, ICAO: EGEO) is located 5 nautical miles (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) northeast of Oban, near the village of North Connel, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Operated by Argyll and Bute council, it has a CAA licence as a commercial airport following recent upgrading. Currently Hebridean Air Services is the only airline based at Oban. It operates scheduled flights on two routes, to the Isles of Colonsay and Islay return and to the Isles of Coll and Tiree return. Sightseeing flights also operate out of Oban Airport with trips around the Loch Linnhe area. Flights include sites such as Oban, the Gulf of Corryvreckan, Tobermory, Castle Stalker and The Bridge over the Atlantic. Oban airport links the mainland with the islands of Coll, Colonsay, Islay and Tiree. The airstrips on the Islands of Coll and Colonsay, also operated by Argyll and Bute council, have benefitted from extensive upgrading to enable them to attain CAA licensing in 2008 to allow for commercial traffic. Scheduled flights began in 2008.

Dunbeg (Scottish Gaelic: An Dùn Beag), formerly known as Dunstaffnage (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Stafhainis or Dùn Staidhinis), is a village about 2+1⁄2 miles (4 km) outside of Oban, Scotland. It has a population of just under 1,000. It is home to the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), one of the primary marine science centres in the UK. Also near Dunbeg is Dunstaffnage Castle, part of the Campbell Clan and is owned by the Captain of Dunstaffnage.

North Connel is a hamlet on the north side of Loch Etive in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Connel Bridge connects the community to Connel on the south shore of the loch, approximately 7 kilometres from Oban. While the bridge belonged to British Rail, a toll was charged to cross and it closed at night. Once sparsely populated, the number of houses in North Connel quickly increased after the bridge was handed over to Argyllshire County Council in the late 1960s.Oban Airport or Connel Airfield is nearby.

North Connel was a railway station located in North Connel, Argyll and Bute, on the north shore of Loch Etive. Its location was at the north end of Connel Bridge. It was on the Ballachulish branch line that linked Connel Ferry, on the main line of the Callander and Oban Railway, with Ballachulish.

Connel Bridge is a cantilever bridge that spans Loch Etive at Connel in Scotland. The bridge takes the A828 road across the narrowest part of the loch, at the Falls of Lora. It is a category B listed structure.

The Falls of Lora is a tidal race which forms at the mouth of Loch Etive when a particularly high tide runs out from the loch. They form white water rapids for two to five days either side of the spring tides.
