Luni, Italy

Ortonovo is a frazione (borough) in the comune of Luni in the Province of La Spezia, Liguria, north-western Italy. It is located about 100 km (62 mi) southeast of Genoa and about 20 km (12 mi) east of La Spezia. Until April 2017 it was the name of the commune including both Ortonovo and Luni.

Castelnuovo Magra (Emilian: Castarnò) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of La Spezia in the Italian region Liguria, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) southeast of Genoa and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) east of La Spezia. The municipality of Castelnuovo Magra contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Colombiera, Molicciara, Palvotrisia, Molino Del Piano and Vallecchia. Castelnuovo Magra borders the following municipalities: Fosdinovo, Ortonovo, Sarzana. The local dialect (referred to in Italian as Lunigianese or similar names) constitutes a variety of Emilian rather than Ligurian.

The Avenza–Carrara railway was a short line connecting the center of Carrara with the locality of Avenza, falling in the same municipality, on which there was and still there is a station of the Genoa-Pisa railway. Opened in 1866, the line constituted later an element of the Carrara Private Marble railway; after the closure of the latter it remained in service as goods connection until the closure to traffic in 1969. The definitive suppression was established by Decree of the President of the Republic no. 1459 of December 28, 1970.

Carrara San Martino railway station, previously named Carrara Città, was a railway station common to two lines, now suppressed, located near the center of Carrara.

Carrara-Avenza railway station, also known simply as Carrara or Avenza, is a railway station of the city of Carrara, Italy. It is located on the Genova-Pisa line. It is the only station serving the Tuscan city, after the closure of Carrara San Martino in 1969.

Carmine Church is a Roman Catholic building which is located in via Loris Giorgi (formerly via Alberica) in Carrara.

The Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara is a public tertiary academy of art in Carrara, in Tuscany, Italy. It was founded on 26 September 1769 by Maria Teresa Cybo-Malaspina, duchess of Massa and princess of Carrara; but its origins go back to 1757, when, on the advice of the sculptor Giovanni Domenico Olivieri, she founded the Accademia di San Ceccardo in which sculpture, architecture and painting were to be taught. To house it, she commissioned Filippo del Medico to design and build a new building (which is now the Biblioteca Civica); in 1807, by order of Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, the accademia was moved the Palazzo del Principe. The school of architecture was at first under Filippo del Medico; Giovanni Antonio Cybei was head of the school of sculpture.: 227 Like other state art academies in Italy, it became an autonomous degree-awarding institution under law no. 508 dated 21 December 1999, and falls under the Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Universita e della Ricerca, the Italian ministry of education and research.

Carrara Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Carrara) is a Roman Catholic church, dedicated to Saint Andrew, in the town of Carrara, located in central Italy. Most of the exterior, and much of the interior, is covered in the local Carrara marble.

Carrara ( kə-RAR-ə, Italian: [kaˈraːɾa]; Emilian: Carara, Emilian: [kaˈɾaːɾa]) is a town and comune in Tuscany, in central Italy, of the province of Massa and Carrara, and notable for the white or blue-grey marble quarried there. It is on the Carrione River, some 100 kilometres (62 mi) west-northwest of Florence. Its motto is Fortitudo mea in rota (Latin: "My strength is in the wheel").

The Magra is a 62-kilometre (39 mi) long river of Northern Italy, which runs through Pontremoli, Filattiera, Villafranca in Lunigiana and Aulla in the province of Massa-Carrara (Tuscany); Santo Stefano di Magra, Vezzano Ligure, Arcola, Sarzana and Ameglia in the province of La Spezia (Liguria). In Roman times, it was known as the Macra and marked the eastern boundary of the territory of Liguria. The river's drainage basin occupies around 1,700 km2 (660 sq mi). Its most important tributary is the Vara which joins the Magra from the right within the commune of Santo Stefano di Magra.

Apuania was a short-lived comune of the Kingdom of Italy, created in 1938 under the Fascist regime by merging the Tuscan cities of Massa and Carrara and the smaller town of Montignoso. The province of Massa-Carrara was accordingly renamed province of Apuania. Among the main supporters of this unified municipality were Fascist leaders Renato Ricci, from Carrara, and Osvaldo Sebastiani, from Massa. Apuania had an area of 181 square kilometres and population of 106,378 inhabitants (59,031 in Carrara, 41,819 in Massa, 5,528 in Montignoso), making up for over half of its province's overall population of 204,377; its motto was Ex tribus una (Latin: "From three, one"). The administrative seat was located in Carrara, the largest of the three merged towns. The municipality of Apuania was dissolved in 1946, after which Massa, Carrara and Montignoso were re-established as separate municipalities.

Miseglia is a village in Tuscany, central Italy, administratively a frazione of the comune of Carrara, province of Massa-Carrara. At the time of the 2011 census its population amounted to 449. Miseglia is about 2 km from Carrara and 10 km from Massa, and it is situated on a peak next to the Carrara marble quarries of Canale di Fantiscritti and Canalgrande. Those quarries have been excavated since the Roman period. The proper village dates back to the 12th century, when it was a property of the pieve of Sant'Andrea in Carrara.
