Spetzgart Castle (German: Schloss Spetzgart) is a building complex dating back to the Staufer period, which is located in the Hödingen district of Überlingen, Germany. It is currently a campus for the students in grades 10PLUS and 11 of Schule Schloss Salem. The school has been using the castle since May 3rd, 1929. The castle and the surrounding residential buildings form the residential area of Spetzgart.

Hödingen is a village in the municipality of Überlingen, in the west of the Bodenseekreis in southwest Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) northwest of Überlingen.

Überlingen (German pronunciation: [ˈyːbɐˌlɪŋən] ; Low Alemannic: Iberlinge) is a German city on the northern shore of Lake Constance (Bodensee) in Baden-Württemberg near the border with Switzerland. After the city of Friedrichshafen, it is the second-largest city in the Bodenseekreis (district), and a central point for the outlying communities. Since 1 January 1993, Überlingen has been categorized as a large district city (Große Kreisstadt).

On 1 July 2002, BAL Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937, a Tupolev Tu-154 passenger jet, and DHL International Aviation ME Flight 611, a Boeing 757 cargo jet, collided in midair over Überlingen, a southern German town on Lake Constance, near the Swiss border. All of the passengers and crew aboard both planes were killed, resulting in a total death toll of 71.The official investigation by the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (German: Bundesstelle für Flugunfalluntersuchung -BFU) identified the main cause of the collision to be a number of shortcomings on the part of the Swiss air traffic control (ATC) service in charge of the sector involved, as well as ambiguities in the procedures regarding the use of the traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) on board.: 110 In 2004, Peter Nielsen, the air traffic controller on duty at the time of the collision, was murdered in an apparent act of revenge by Vitaly Kaloyev, a Russian citizen and architect whose wife and two children had been killed in the accident.

Linzgau is a historic region in Southern Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located north of Lake Constance and south of the Danube valley.

Lake Überlingen (Standard German of Germany: Überlinger See, Swiss Standard German: Überlingersee) is the northwestern "finger" of the Obersee, the lower part of Lake Constance. The boundary of lake is defined as the ferry link from Meersburg to Constance. It extends north to Bodman-Ludwigshafen. In contrast to the main south-eastern part of the Upper Lake, which is a condominium, Lake Überlingen is considered German territory. The total area of Lake Obersee is about 473 km2; with its 61 km2, Lake Überlingen is about as large as the Untersee part of the lake. The elevation of the water surface is about 395 m above sea level. The maximum depth of Lake Überlingen of 147 m is significantly lower than that of rest of the Obersee with 254 m. Mainau, the Island of Flowers, is on the Constance side of Lake Überlingen. Neighboring municipalities are Meersburg, Überlingen, Uhldingen-Mühlhofen and Sipplingen in Bodenseekreis as well as Allensbach, Bodman-Ludwigshafen and the city of Constance in the Landkreis of Constance. The Seefeld Aach in Uhldingen flows into Lake Überlingen in Uhldingen, and the Stockacher Aach between Bodman and Ludwigshafen. Several smaller streams also flow into the lake. The intake point of the Bodensee-Wasserversorgung is in Sipplingen, at a depth of approximately 60 m. This firm supplies about 4 million people in many parts of Baden-Württemberg with drinking water, producing about 135 million m³ annually. This represents approximately 1.25% of the discharge. Like the rest of Lake Constance, Lake Überlingen is a popular water sports area. Because of its steep banks, it is also a popular scuba diving area. It is, however, dangerous: the banks drop off steeply to about 60 m, visibility is limited, the currents often change and the water temperature in the deeper parts is only 4-5 °C. Novice divers drown almost every year.

Owingen is a municipality in the district "Bodenseekreis" in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

Sipplingen is a municipality in the district of Bodensee in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

Billafingen is a village that is part of Owingen in the Bodensee district, Germany, close to Überlingen. It was first mentioned in 970 and merged with Owingen in 1975. Its population is around 700. It has won the village improvement competition "Unser Dorf soll schöner werden" ('Make our village more beautiful') several times.

Hegne station (German: Bahnhof Hegne) is a railway station on the Bodanrück peninsula, within the municipality of Allensbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It serves the village of Hegne and Hegne Abbey. It is located on the standard gauge High Rhine Railway of Deutsche Bahn and is served only by regional trains.

The Bodanrück is the peninsula that divides Lake Constance into Überlinger See and Gnadensee, which is part of Untersee. The cities of Konstanz, Radolfzell and Allensbach are located there.

The Birnau pilgrimage church (German: Wallfahrtskirche Birnau or Basilika Birnau) is a Baroque pilgrimage church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Assumption of Mary on 15 August and Visitation on 2 July) on the northern shore of Lake Constance (the Überlinger See) between Nußdorf and Uhldingen-Mühlhofen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It lies in the hamlet of Birnau on the western section of the Upper Swabian Baroque Route, directly below federal highway B 31. Built between 1746 and 1749 by the Vorarlberg master builder Peter Thumb for Salem Abbey, it is famous for its rich Rococo decoration: frescoes by Gottfried Bernhard Göz, and also stucco work, altars and sculptures by Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer. Since 1946 Birnau has also served as the parish church for Deisendorf and Nußdorf. In 1971 it was raised to a minor basilica by Pope Paul VI. The former monastery buildings in front of the church, with their distinctive bell tower, now house a priory of the Cistercian Territorial Abbey of Wettingen-Mehrerau.
