The site is located a few miles to the south-east of Leeds station on the line between Leeds and Castleford. Owned and operated by Freightliner, it is the heavy maintenance facility for its diesel and electric locomotives and wagon fleet.

Stourton Freightliner Terminal (Stourton FLT), is a railfreight intermodal transport hub located in Stourton, Leeds, England. It is operated by the Freightliner Group, and has services arriving and departing for ports in Felixstowe, Southampton and Tilbury in the south of England. Stourton serves as a dedicated collection and delivery point for containers across Yorkshire, with a minor sub-service to Teesport in Middlesbrough by rail. The site was opened in July 1967 by British Rail as part of its dedicated Freightliner brand. Between the closure of many intermodal terminals in the 1980s, and the prospect of a resurgence in Channel Tunnel traffic, Stourton was the only intermodal terminal in Yorkshire between 1987 and 1994.

Leeds South is a parliamentary constituency in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, which returns one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The constituency existed from 1885 to 1983 and was recreated in 2024 following the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies. In the 2024 general election, the seat was won by Hilary Benn of the Labour Party, who serves as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in the government of Keir Starmer. Benn had represented Leeds Central, the main predecessor of Leeds South, since 1999. Leeds South was the seat of the former Leader of the Labour Party, the late Hugh Gaitskell, and the former Home Secretary Merlyn Rees.

Hunslet (English: ) is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) southeast of the city centre and has an industrial past. It is situated in the Hunslet and Riverside ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds Central parliamentary constituency. The population of the previous City and Hunslet council ward at the 2011 census was 33,705.Many engineering companies were based in Hunslet, including John Fowler & Co. manufacturers of traction engines and steam rollers, the Hunslet Engine Company builders of locomotives (including those used during the construction of the Channel Tunnel), Kitson & Co., Manning Wardle and Hudswell Clarke. Many railway locomotives were built in the Jack Lane area of Hunslet. The area has a mixture of modern and 19th century industrial buildings, terraced housing and 20th century housing. It is an area that has grown up significantly around the River Aire in the early years of the 21st century, especially with the construction of modern riverside flats. It was at one point the main production site for Leeds Creamware, a type of pottery (still produced) so called because of its cream glazing. Hunslet is now prospering as it follows the trend of Leeds generally and the expansion of office and industrial sites south of Leeds city centre.

Hunslet was a rural district of the administrative county of Yorkshire, West Riding from 1894 to 1937. The rural district was created by the Local Government Act 1894 as successor to the Hunslet Rural Sanitary District. It lay to the south of the county borough of Leeds, and initially consisted of four civil parishes: Middleton Oulton with Woodlesford Templenewsham Thorpe StapletonThe council offices were in Hunslet within the county borough. In 1920 the area of the rural district was reduced when Middleton was included in the enlarged boundaries of Leeds. Five years later the parish of Thorpe Stapleton, with a population at the 1921 census of just 23, was absorbed by Templenewsham. In 1928 a further extension of the City of Leeds took in Templenewsham, leaving the rural district with the single parish of Oulton with Woodlesford. The district was abolished in 1937 by a county review order, with its area included in an enlarged Rothwell Urban District.

Stourton is a mainly industrial area of the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The area falls within the City and Hunslet ward of Leeds Metropolitan Council.

Park Halt railway station on the Middleton Railway in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England is the terminal station of the railway. It is situated next to Middleton Park. The halt was constructed so passengers could alight to walk around the reclaimed colliery site of Broom Pit and allow for the run-round of trains. Park Halt is located near the John Charles Centre for Sport. The site consists of a platform with pedestrian access into the park.

Cockburn John Charles Academy (formerly The South Leeds Academy) is a mixed secondary school located in the Belle Isle area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.It was originally known as Belle Isle Middle School, before becoming a secondary school. It was then renamed Merlyn Rees Community High School. The school was formally merged with Matthew Murray High School in 2006 and was renamed South Leeds High School. The school then relocated to a new site near John Charles Centre for Sport. In 2009 the school converted to academy status and was renamed The South Leeds Academy. After a period of poor results the school gained a new sponsor in 2018 and was renamed Cockburn John Charles Academy. Cockburn John Charles Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. The new academy no longer has a Sixth Form but has strong relationships with local Post 16 providers. Cockburn John Charles Academy is the 2nd in a franchise of schools owned by the same sponsor and all sharing the Cockburn name.

Knowsthorpe, Knostrop or Knostropp is an area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, on the River Aire. The spelling "Knostrop" is predominantly used for the large water treatment works in the area. Atkinson Grimshaw painted Knostrop Cut, Leeds, Sunday Night, 1893. The area falls within Temple Newsam ward of Leeds City Council.

The Hunslet Mill and Victoria Works Complex is a series of very large disused mill buildings in Goodman Street in Leeds.
