The Township of Mariposa was a municipality located in the southwest corner of the former Victoria County, now the city of Kawartha Lakes, in the Canadian province of Ontario. The other municipal neighbours of Mariposa are Ops and Fenelon on the east, Eldon on the north, Brock on the west, and Scugog on the south, with the latter two located in the Durham Regional Municipality. The former township includes the communities of Little Britain, Manilla, Mariposa, Valentia, and Oakwood. Today, most of the former township is represented in the City of Kawartha Lakes by the Ward 8 Councillor, John Pollard, and Ward 4 Councillor Andrew Veale.

Oakwood Aerodrome (TC LID: COK3) is a registered aerodrome located 1 nautical mile (1.9 km; 1.2 mi) southwest of Oakwood, Ontario, Canada.

Mississaugas of Scugog Island is a First Nation and reserve for the Mississaugas of Scugog Island band government in south-central Ontario, Canada. It is located near Lake Scugog in Durham Region.

The Great Blue Heron Casino is located on Scugog Island, just east of the community of Port Perry, Ontario, and northeast of Toronto. Both the Casino and the land on which it is built are owned by the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. The First Nation theme is carried throughout the facility, in the interior art and is especially noticeable in the signature red, blue and cream colour roof. The Great Blue Heron Gaming Company, a partnership of Casinos Austria, the Steiner Family, and Sonco Gaming, operates the Casino. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation manages the slots, while the Baagwating Community Association, a non-profit, charitable organization formed by the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, manages the table games. Revenues and profits are distributed among the parties, and to various charitable organizations, based upon contractual sharing arrangements. Opened originally in 1997, with gaming tables and a 650-seat bingo hall, the Casino was extensively renovated in 1999 and 2000. Its floor area is approximately 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2), in which there are now two bars, one restaurant, a slots' room with 545 machines and a 60 table games. The table games include: Roulette, Blackjack, Spanish 21, Mini Baccarat, Let it Ride Poker, Texas Hold Em Poker, Pai Gow Poker, Three & Four Card Poker and Texas Hold Em Bonus Poker. As of 1999, there is no longer a bingo hall on premises. On November 1, 2021, The Great Blue Heron Casino announced the completion of their renovation and hotel, which was announced on January 9, 2018. The renovation was delayed multiple times due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The renovation consists of a 100 room hotel and a 20,000 foot addition to the casino.

Lindsay/Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport (TC LID: CNF4) is a registered aerodrome located 1.1 nautical miles (2.0 km; 1.3 mi) west northwest of Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. The aerodrome is home to mostly general aviation aircraft, the COPA Flight 101 Kawartha Lakes Flying Club, and maintenance and service facilities. Kawartha Lakes Aerodrome is also used by Ornge as a refueling stop, and is a popular fly-in lunch destination for pilots in central Ontario.

Sonya (pronounced Sawn•ya) is a small hamlet in Durham Region and the City of Kawartha Lakes in Ontario, Canada. It is located 3 km north of Seagrave on Simcoe Street, also known as Regional Road 2. A recently constructed sub-division has expanded the hamlet from about 15 houses to more than 30. At one time it had a railroad station, as part of the Whitby, Port Perry, and Lindsay Railroad, a post office, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The railroad closed in the 1940s and the general store was destroyed by fire in the 1950s. The railroad trackbed is still visible just west of the hamlet where it crossed the concession road, and the station, now gone, was located just north of the road. The former Knox Presbyterian Church, built in 1893, is now a private residence, after closing in the 1980s. The village park land is now surrounded by the new subdivision and was once home to the Sonya Sleigh Riders baseball team.

Cambray is a community in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, situated at the intersection of Cambray Road and Elm Tree Road. It is on the main street connecting Woodville to Lindsay. Originally a native encampment, Cambray was established as a mill site between Lindsay and Eldon Station. The first farm was owned by the Jarvis Family, followed by the Sinclair and Wilkinson families. It was located in Fenelon Township, Victoria County until 2001, when it was reformed as Kawartha Lakes. Joseph Wilkinson named the village and township because he admired the literary works of François Fénelon, Archbishop of Cambrai. He also founded one of the first mills in 1855.

The City of Kawartha Lakes (2021 population 79,247) is a unitary municipality in Central Ontario, Canada. It is a municipality legally structured as a single-tier city; however, Kawartha Lakes is the size of a typical Ontario county and is mostly rural. It is the second largest single-tier municipality in Ontario by land area (after Greater Sudbury). The main population centres are the communities of Lindsay (population: 22,367), Bobcaygeon (population: 3,576), Fenelon Falls (population: 2,490), Omemee (population: 1,060) and Woodville (population: 718).

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School is a Catholic secondary school located in the southern part of Lindsay, Ontario. It is currently the only Catholic secondary school in the City of Kawartha Lakes. The school was opened in 2000, and celebrated its 10th anniversary on March 29, 2011.There are approximately 300 students enrolled in grades 9 through 12, making it the smallest of three High Schools located in Lindsay. Students are required to wear a uniform purchased from R.J. McCarthy in navy blue, white, gold, and khaki pieces specific to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. The school offers classes for the workplace, college and university-bound student, as well as a Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM) in Health/Wellness and their brand new Agriculture Specialist High Skills Major program, introduced in 2019. A French immersion program was introduced in 2016. Advanced Placement courses are also offered. K courses are also offered at the school for students who are not achieving credits but are working towards building basic life skills, social skills and skills to prepare them for entry-level jobs in the workplace.

Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute, commonly referred to as LCVI or LC is a secondary school in Lindsay, Ontario.It is a part of the Trillium Lakelands District School Board. It was previously in the Victoria County Board of Education.

Scugog Centre is a community in the township of Scugog, Ontario. Located on the shores of Lake Scugog's east side (opposite Scugog Island centred at Island Road (Regional Road 7) and Demara Road) just east of Lakeside Beach. The area is mainly agricultural with few homes, with more residential areas along the lake. At the intersection of Island Road, Demara Road and Stephenson Point Road are a few historic structures: Scugog Island Hall (banquet facility built in 1884) Scugog Island United Church and Manse (built 1868) Scugog Island Centre School (built 1865)

Lindsay is a community of 22,367 people (2021 census) on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 43 km (27 mi) west of Peterborough. It is the seat of the City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County), and the hub for business and commerce in the region.
