Halles Saint-Géry

Saint-Géry Island (French: île Saint-Géry) or Sint-Goriks Island (Dutch: Sint-Gorikseiland ) was the largest island in the Senne (Zenne) river in Brussels, Belgium. It was named after Saint Gaugericus of Cambrai, who built a chapel there around 580; hence the name "Brussels", which comes from Bruocsella or Broekzele, meaning "settlement in the marsh". It ceased to exist as an island when the Senne was covered over in the late 19th century.

Ancienne Belgique (French for "Old Belgium") is a concert hall for contemporary music in Brussels, Belgium. Located in the historic heart of Brussels, it is one of the leading concert venues in Belgium, hosting a wide variety of international and local acts.

Het Zinneke (Brusselian dialect for "the mutt"), sometimes called Zinneke Pis by analogy with Manneken Pis, is a bronze sculpture in central Brussels, Belgium, erected in 1998. Created by Tom Frantzen, it represents a urinating dog, along the same lines as Manneken Pis (a boy) and its derivative Jeanneke Pis (a girl). It is an example of folk humour (zwanze) popular in Brussels.Het Zinneke is located at the junction of the Rue des Chartreux/Kartuizersstraat and the Rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Grains/Oude Graanmarkt in the City of Brussels, not far from the Halles Saint-Géry/Sint-Gorikshallen, a former covered market, and one of the trendiest districts of the capital. In August 2015, Het Zinneke was struck by a car, and was restored by the sculptor.

The Boulevard Anspach (French) or Anspachlaan (Dutch) is a central boulevard in Brussels, Belgium, connecting the Place de Brouckère/De Brouckèreplein to the Place Fontainas/Fontainasplein. It was created following the covering of the river Senne (1867–1871), and bears the name of a former mayor of the City of Brussels, Jules Anspach (1829–1879). The Boulevard Anspach is continued to the north by both the Boulevard Émile Jacqmain/Émile Jacqmainlaan and the Boulevard Adolphe Max/Adolphe Maxlaan, forming a "Y" crossroad at the Place de Brouckère. To the south, it crosses the Place de la Bourse/Beursplein about halfway through, and continues towards the Place Fontainas where it becomes the Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier/Maurice Lemonnierlaan. Many places of interest lie along the Boulevard Anspach, for instance the Brussels Stock Exchange, the Ancienne Belgique concert hall, the Pathé Palace cinema (officially named the Cinéma Palace since 2018), as well as numerous shops and restaurants. De Brouckère metro station on lines 1 and 5 of the Brussels Metro is accessible from the Boulevard Anspach, as well as the Bourse/Beurs premetro (underground tram) station.

The Bourse - Grand-Place/Beurs - Grote Markt premetro station is an underground tram station in Brussels, Belgium located in the city centre under Boulevard Anspach, next to the Place de la Bourse and the Brussels Stock Exchange, after which it is named. It is also located metres from the Grand Place. Brussels trams stopping at that station are the lines 3 and 4 as well as evening services 31, 32 and 33. The station in part of the North-South axis between Brussels-North railway station and Albert premetro station. A connection with bus routes 46, 48, 86 and 95 is possible at ground level.

It was created following the covering of the river Senne (1867–1871). The former Brussels Stock Exchange building, of which it takes its name, is located on this square. It is served by the premetro (underground tram) station Bourse/Beurse on lines 3 and 4.

The Place Sainte-Catherine (French) or Sint-Katelijneplein (Dutch) is a square in the Quays or Sainte-Catherine/Sint-Katelijne Quarter of Brussels, Belgium.

The Place Fontainas (French) or Fontainasplein (Dutch) is a square in Brussels, Belgium. It was created following the covering of the river Senne (1867–1871). It is named in honour of André-Napoléon Fontainas (1807–1863), a former mayor of the City of Brussels. The square lies at the conjunction of the Boulevard Anspach/Anspachlaan to the north with the Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier/Maurice Lemonnierlaan to the south, in the Midi–Lemonnier or Stalingrad Quarter (southern part of the City of Brussels). It is served by the premetro (underground tram) station Anneessens on lines 3 and 4.

The Brussels Stock Exchange (French: Bourse de Bruxelles, Dutch: Beurs van Brussel), abbreviated to BSE, was founded in Brussels, Belgium, by decree of Napoleon in 1801. In 2002, the BSE merged with the Amsterdam, Lisbon and Paris stock exchanges into Euronext N.V., renaming the BSE Euronext Brussels. The most well known stock market index on the BSE is the BEL20. The former Brussels Stock Exchange building (French: Palais de la Bourse, Dutch: Beurspaleis), usually shortened to Bourse or Beurs, is located on the Place de la Bourse/Beursplein along the Boulevard Anspach/Anspachlaan. This area is served by the premetro (underground tram) station Bourse/Beurse on lines 3 and 4.

Saint Catherine's Church (French: Église Sainte-Catherine, Dutch: Sint-Katelijnekerk) is a Roman Catholic parish church in Brussels, Belgium. It is dedicated to Saint Catherine. The current church was designed by the architect Joseph Poelaert and built between 1854 and 1874 on the site of a basin of the former Port of Brussels, replacing an older church dating back to the 15th century. The complex was designated a historic monument in 1981.The church is located on the Place Sainte-Catherine/Sint-Katelijneplein, in the Quays Quarter. This site is served by Sainte-Catherine/Sint-Katelijne metro station on lines 1 and 5 of the Brussels Metro.

Au Derby, formerly known as Au Daringman and Ballon du Centre, is a café in Brussels, Belgium. It was operated under the name Au Daringman for nearly twenty-five years, during which time it became a cult venue frequented by artists, local residents, and Dutch-speaking Brussels inhabitants. The café is located at 37, Rue de Flandre/Vlaamsesteenweg in the historic city centre of Brussels. It has been a protected heritage site since 22 February 2024.

Bruxella 1238 is an archaeological site located beneath the Brussels Stock Exchange in Belgium. The site presents the remains of a Recollect convent established in the early 13th century and offers visitors an insight into nearly a millennium of Brussels’ history. Excavations conducted between 1988 and 2022 uncovered building foundations, burial grounds, and various artefacts, which are now presented through an immersive scenography. The convent endured significant events, including the European religious wars and the 1695 bombardment of Brussels by the troops of Louis XIV. Declared national property at the end of the 18th century, the convent was eventually demolished to make way for the construction of the Stock Exchange building. Among the preserved remains is the supposed tomb of John I, Duke of Brabant, a figure later linked to the beer legend of Gambrinus.
