Sidmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station

Sidmouth Lifeboat is a charity that provides lifeboat and lifeguard services in Sidmouth in Devon, England. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) previously operated a lifeboat at Sidmouth between 1869 and 1912. The charity's independent service dates from 1968 and since 2019 its principal lifeboat has been an Arctic 24 boat named Peter & Barbara Truesdale.

There has been a folk festival in the coastal town of Sidmouth in South West England in the first week of August every year since 1955, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to over 700 diverse events.Sidmouth Folk Festival offers a wide range of activities including major folk concerts, pub sessions, workshops and master classes, social dances and colourful dance displays, family entertainment and many children's musical and craft activities. The town's streets and venues come alive with festive atmosphere as holidaymakers and festival goers join together in a music-based holiday to remember, The popular Late Night Extra feature is also run at Bulverton on the edge of Sidmouth next to the main campsite. The festival patron is Martin Carthy MBE.

Sidmouth Priory was a priory in Devon, England. An Alien priory of Benedictine monks, a monastic cell or monastic grange dependent on Mont St Michel founded in the 11th Century through their ownership of Otterton Priory. The manor was granted by William the Conqueror and dissolved in 1414; occupied by Bridgettine monks as a grange of Syon Abbey in circa 1431. Currently dissolved and the remains of the chapel of St Peter are incorporated in the Marlborough Hotel in Sidmouth which now known as Dukes Seaside Inn. The earliest record of the chapel is 1322, when due to the movement of the River Sid, when the parish boundaries between Sidmouth and Salcombe Regis had to be redrawn with a line drawn eastwards from the chapel towards what is now Port Royal.

East Devon is a local government district in Devon, England. Its council has been based in Honiton since February 2019, and the largest town is Exmouth (with a population of 34,432 at the time of the 2011 census). The district was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the borough of Honiton with the urban districts of Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Ottery St. Mary, Seaton, Sidmouth along with Axminster Rural District, Honiton Rural District and part of St Thomas Rural District. East Devon is covered by three Parliamentary constituencies, East Devon, Tiverton and Honiton and Central Devon. All were retained in the 2019 general election by the Conservative Party, were represented by Simon Jupp, Neil Parish and Mel Stride respectively until Parish’s resignation in 2022. In the 2001 census it was found that a third of East Devon's population were over 60. The average for England was 24%. East Devon also had a higher number of people living in "Medical and Care Establishments" at 1.6% compared to the England average of 0.9%. The council area covers the area of Devon furthest to east, stretching all the way from Exeter to the county border with Dorset and Somerset. A large amount of East Devon is made up of two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), East Devon AONB and the Blackdown Hills. AONBs have the same level of protection as National parks of England and Wales which restricts new developments, which protects the natural beauty of this district. The entire East Devon coastline from Exmouth to the border with Dorset is part of the designated World Heritage Site called the Jurassic Coast; the designated area itself continues up to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage.

Sidmouth () is a town on the English Channel in Devon, South West England, 14 miles (23 km) southeast of Exeter. With a population of 12,569 in 2011, it is a tourist resort and a gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. A large part of the town has been designated a conservation area.

Sidmouth Museum is a museum in Sidmouth, Devon, England. The museum is housed in Hope Cottage, a Grade II listed building. The building was extended in 2020 to include more space for exhibits as well as new disabled access. In addition to exhibits relating to prominent local figures and history, it holds significant and diverse collections in areas such as lacemaking, local archaeology, and geology. It is owned by the Sid Vale Association (SVA).

The River Sid, situated in East Devon, is often claimed to be the shortest complete river in England. It flows for 6.5 miles (10.5 km) southwards from a source in Crowpits Covert (OSGB36 Grid reference SY138963) at a height of 206 metres above sea level. The source is at the head of a goyle or small ravine. The underlying geology is impermeable silty mudstones and sandstones of the Triassic Keuper marl, overlain with permeable Greensand and clay-with-flints. The junction between the Greensand and Keuper Marl forms a spring line. The river flows through Sidbury and Sidford to Sidmouth and is fed by springs flowing from East Hill and water from the Roncombe Stream, the Snod Brook and the Woolbrook. In Sidmouth the river outflows at the Ham through a shingle bar.The Sid Vale Association, the first Civic Society in Britain (founded in 1846), is based in the Sid Vale.

Kennaway House is a Regency town house in Sidmouth, East Devon, which was formerly known as Fort House and Church House. It is a Grade II* listed building.Fort House was built about 1805 and soon came into the ownership of the Kennaway family of Escot House near Ottery St Mary. The Kennaways resettled at Escot after 1838. By the end of the 19th century the house was in use as a lodging house. Richard Hatton Wood bought it in 1905 and on 6 July 1906 the house was transferred by deed to a newly created Church House Trust. Although not legally connected to the neighbouring Church of St. Giles & St. Nicholas, the building became Church House and its Trustees were given the express duty of using the house: “for such purposes only as Church House may properly be used. For.. promoting...any work in support of or for the benefit or in connection with the Church of England including Home and Foreign Missions or for Sunday schools, Bible Classes, Church Lads Brigade, Lectures, Mothers’ Meetings, Sacred Concerts, Choir Practices, Parish Clubs or Societies.” The same deeds also specifically prohibited certain activities deemed unsuitable: “not dancing or such like and not antagonistic to or inconsistent with the continuance of well-being of the Church of England..” The house gradually fell into disrepair until by 2001 parts of it were dangerous and its future uncertain. A campaign was launched, led by Dr Michael James, to raise funds of £1 million needed for restoration. National Lottery funding was obtained in 2006 to cover half the cost and grants made by the Town, District and County Councils and a number of private foundations. The Friends of Kennaway House raised over £100,000 in local fund-raising events. Restoration began in 2008 and the house was renamed Kennaway House after a public ballot in the local newspaper The Sidmouth Herald.It was reopened on 4 July 2009 by the Rt Hon Hugo Swire, Member of Parliament for East Devon as a Gallery and Arts Centre and a facility for private and community events. It is licensed for civil weddings and partnerships. It is owned and managed by the Kennaway House Trust, which is a Registered Charity No 1122667.

Sidmouth railway station was a fully operational station located in Sidmouth, Devon, England until its closure in 1967. The station is now a privately owned property at the top of Alexandria Road, Sidmouth. The line was part of the Southern Railway, a branch off the Salisbury to Exeter route (West of England Main Line) at Sidmouth Junction.

Peak House in Sidmouth, Devon, is a building designed by Evelyn Hellicar. It was finished in 1904 and is entirely made of beer stone. It is a Grade II Listed building.

Sidmouth Town Association Football Club is a football club based in Sidmouth, Devon, England. They are currently members of the South West Peninsula League Premier Division East and play at Manstone Lane.
