North Tampa (neighborhood)

North Tampa is a region that comprises the city of Tampa communities of Forest Hills, Harvey Heights, North Tampa (neighborhood), Tampa Overlook, Temple Crest, Terrace Park and University Square, and the areas in New Tampa. The region represents District 7 of Tampa City Council. North Tampa also comprises communities in unincorporated Hillsborough County such as Avila, Northdale, Carrollwood, University, Lutz and Lake Magdalene.North Tampa contains a section of Lowry Park, specifically, the neighborhood's North section.Prominent locations within this region include Busch Gardens, the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI), and the University of South Florida.

Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School is a charter school in Tampa, Florida, United States, founded with support from former NFL player Derrick Brooks and former San Francisco 49ers owner Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr. Both of the founders are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. University Mall, previously University Square Mall, is a shopping mall located near the University of South Florida, just north of the city limits of Tampa on Fowler Avenue. The property is located just east of I-275. The mall is anchored by Burlington Coat Factory, Grand's, and K&G Fashion Superstore. Demolition of the closed section of the mall began on February 19, 2019.

George D. Chamberlain High School is a public high school in Tampa, Florida, United States. It was opened in 1956 on North Boulevard (on the corner of Busch Boulevard). The school is named in honor of George D. Chamberlain, who served for several years as a trustee for the Hillsborough County School System.In 2002, the school started a culinary operations academy program supported by Outback Steakhouse. No other school in Hillsborough County offers this program. Chamberlain is also the only school in the Hillsborough County Public School District to offer Marine Corps JROTC, with 100 plus cadets enrolled. Chamberlain boasts nationally award winning Junior Achievement 3DE Academic program as well as the Cambridge AICE program which allows students to earn an international diploma by taking advanced academic courses and passing exams administered by the University of Cambridge in England. University is an unincorporated census-designated place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 41,163 at the 2010 census, up from 30,736 at the 2000 census. The University of South Florida is located just southeast of the community, within the Tampa city limits. The community is also known as "University West", mainly due to its location in relation to the university. The community is often notoriously referred to by locals as "Suitcase City" due to the high rate of transients.

Forest Hills is a neighborhood partially within the city limits of Tampa, Florida, United States, with the northern portion located in unincorporated Hillsborough County near Lake Magdalene. In 1926 a golf course and club house was built there. In 1949, "Babe" Zaharias bought the clubhouse and golf course, and may have lived in the clubhouse for a time. She moved to a house nearby in 1954. In 1956, she died of cancer in Galveston, Texas and the course closed. The area was mainly a citrus grove until residential development began in the 1950s and 1960s. A developer from Miami wanted to buy the golf course land, but the City of Tampa decided to buy it and restore it. In 1974 the course was reopened. Since then it has been renovated, the courses were rebuilt and an irrigation system added.In recent years, some of the older, smaller homes in Forest Hills have been replaced by bigger homes of larger square footages. This has been particularly the case with properties located around the lakes and ponds in Forest Hills located west of North Boulevard and north of Country Club Drive. The area, essentially close-in suburb of Tampa city proper, remains popular with both new arrivals to the Tampa area and native Tampans alike. Forest Hills still contains the golf course named after Babe Zaharias, a public golf course owned by City of Tampa. The neighborhood has its branch post office with a ZIP Code of 33612. The population was 4,734 at the 2000 census.The neighborhood was designed in 1926 along with the golf course (originally called "Golfland Country Club") and remains to this day largely as designed back then.

Nowatney is an unincorporated community in northern Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The community is within the census-designated place of University. The ZIP code for the community is 33613.

Python was a steel roller coaster located at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay theme park in Tampa, Florida. Built by Arrow Development and opened on July 1, 1976, it was the first roller coaster at Busch Gardens since the park opened in 1959. The roller coaster was located in the Congo section of the park near Stanley Falls Flume and later the Congo River Rapids. After 30 years of operation, Python closed on October 31, 2006 and was eventually replaced by Jungala, a family section of the park. Python was one of several Corkscrew models built by Arrow Development, imaged after the likes of Corkscrew at Knott's Berry Farm. The roller coaster reached a maximum height of 72 feet (22 m), with a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour (64 km/h), and reached a length of 1,200 feet (370 m). Upon opening, the roller coaster was received well by critics and guests.

The Arthenia L. Joyner University Area Community Library is a member of the Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System (THPL) and the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative (HCPLC). It is a 15,000 square foot facility located adjacent to Muller Elementary Magnet School on 13619 North 22nd St. In addition to serving as a public library, the location also serves a partnership library with the Hillsborough County Public School system. The library doubles as a media center for the Mueller Elementary Magnet School during school hours and as a public library during all operating hours. In addition to books, the library offers a variety of meeting spaces, computers, technology instruction, literacy and family events.
