Rönninge railway station

Rönninge is a residential area in Salem Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. Statistically it is a part of the bimunicipal [1] contiguously built-up Tumba urban area. The railway Stockholm - Södertälje was opened in 1861. By the beginning of the 1900s a settlement began to grow. A school house was built in 1906. The population of Rönninge is today about 4,300. Rönninge has a station on the Stockholm commuter rail network's Södertälje line.

Statistically it is a part of the bimunicipal contiguously built-up Tumba urban area.In 2005, Salem had a population of 14,171. The number of inhabitants increased to ca. 16,000 in 2008, and to almost 17,000 in 2020 .

Garnudden Nature Reserve (Swedish: Garnuddens naturreservat) is a nature reserve in Salem Municipality, Stockholm County in Sweden. The purpose of the nature reserve is to protect the natural values of the area for the future, as it is located close to an urban environment, as well as an effort to sustain the biodiversity of the area. The area is topographically varied and is typical for forest areas on Södertörn. Several protected species are known from the area, including Phellinus pini and Cortinarius sulfurinus.The area is accessible to visitors via footpaths. A beach for bathing also lies within the reserve and is supervised by Salem Municipality.

Bornsjön is a lake at Södertörn in Salem Municipality in Södermanland, Sweden. It is part of Norrström's main catchment area. The lake is 17 metres deep, has an area of 6.34 square kilometres (2.45 sq mi), and is 11 metres above sea level. In test fishing, a large number of fish species have been caught, including European perch, white bream, common bream and ruffe. The lake is within the boundaries of the Bornsjön Nature Reserve, and has been sheltered since 1920.

Aspen is a lake in Botkyrka Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. The lake is crossed by the European route E4/European route E20 and is located about 20 kilometres southwest of Stockholm, the Swedish capital. It has an area of 1 km2.During the Stone Age, Aspen was in the ocean, but was uplifted by the time of the Bronze Age. Bronze Age settlements grew up around the lake and for some thousand years Iron Age farms were around the lake. The area developed during this period. A graveyard from that period is preserved in the area. Skrävsta Ekholmen nature reserve is in the vicinity of the lake with about sixty large oak trees, half of which are centuries old. There are large bats and many other rare animal and plant species. Around the lake is a nature trail at 7½ km length. The path leads through the woods, high above the marsh.

Botkyrka Municipality (Botkyrka kommun) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, not far from the capital Stockholm. Its seat is located in the town of Tumba. In 1971 Grödinge was merged with Botkyrka and in 1974 Salem was added. The Salem part was split off again in 1983, and a new Salem Municipality was formed. Botkyrka has an estimated population of 91,925.

Tumba is a bimunicipal locality and the seat of Botkyrka Municipality in Stockholm County, Sweden with 37,852 inhabitants in 2010. A part of its statistical urban area, called Rönninge, is in Salem Municipality. The population is 35,311 (2005). The Swedish krona banknotes are printed by Crane AB at Tumba Bruk, in Tumba. Tumba is situated half-way between Stockholm and Södertälje and is considered a Stockholm suburb. In Tumba and Rönninge there are stations on the Stockholm commuter rail network. Tumba also has a High School (Tumba gymnasium) with almost 1.000 students. The Alfa Laval company was founded in Tumba by Gustaf de Laval and remains in the suburb, as does DeLaval, split from Alfa Laval in 1991. Tumba is diverse, with high-rise apartment buildings and single-family houses. Tumba also has a shopping mall, Tumba Centrum, near the railway station. The melodic death metal band Amon Amarth is from Tumba.
