Wyczółki Park

Wyczółki is a neighbourhood, and a City Information System area, located in Warsaw, Poland, within the district of Ursynów. It is a mixed area, consisting of residencial zones, as well as business office complexes and storage warehouses.The oldest known records of Wyczółki, then a small village inhabited by petty nobility, come from 1483. In 1805, there were constructed the Wyczółki Manor House, and an English landscape garden, now known as the Wyczółki Park. In 1939, east of Wyczółki was opened the Służewiec Horse Racing Track, which, upon its opening, was the largest and the most modern horse racing venue in Europe. Portion of Wyczółki was incorporated into Warsaw in 1938, while the remaining part, in 1951. Between 1950s and 1970s, in Wyczółki were built manufacturing industry buildings, as part of the Industrial and Storage District of Służewiec, later known as Służewiec Przemysłowy (Industrial Służewiec). In the 1990s, the industrial activity in the area went to a hold, and was replaced with business office complexes.

Its boundaries are commonly accepted to be Cybernetyki, Domaniewska, Marynarska, and Wołoska Streets. The area is mostly composed of office buildings, including the headquarters of branches of many multinational corporations.It is named after Mordor, a fictional location in the 1954–1955 fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings written by J. R. R. Tolkien. The local government had refused to officially recognize the name of the area. However, in 2022, two streets in the area had been named after J. R. R. Tolkien, and Gandalf (character from the novel), in reference to the unofficial name.

Additionally in the north, there is the neighbourhood of Grabów, consisting of terraced houses. There is also located the Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies, one of the largest high tech research facilities in Poland.The oldest known records of Grabów, then a small village, date to the 18th century. By 19th century, in the area, to the southeast, was also present the village of Krasnowola. In 1951 both villages were incorporated into Warsaw. In 1980s and 1990s, there was constructed the residencial neighbourhood of Grabów, consisting of terraced houses.
